“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Property and our sacred Honor.”

That is the last sentence in our Declaration of Independence of which 56 men of honor signed their names, knowingly committing treason against the British Crown. Our Founding Fathers sought “honor;” freedom from corruption, bribery, tyranny and elitism. They were honorable men who led honorable lives and literally put their lives on the line for honor and liberty.

“Lives, property, honor: of those 56 who signed the Declaration of Independence, nine died of wounds or hardships during the war. Five were captured and imprisoned, in each case with brutal treatment. Several lost wives, sons and entire families. One lost his 13 children. Two wives were brutally treated. All were at one time or another the victims of manhunts and driven from their homes. Twelve signers had their homes completely burned. Seventeen lost everything they owned. Yet not one defected or went back on his pledged word. Their honor, and the nation they sacrificed so much to create, is still intact.”* (Rush Limbaugh)

Then there’s Abraham Clark, a New Jersey signer. His two sons, fighting for the Revolutionary Army, were captured, put in prison, and starved nearly to death. Before dying Clark was made an offer: his sons would be freed if he would recant his signing of the Declaration and instead declare for the King and Parliament. The despair and anguish in his heart should touch all of us down through the past 200 years to find out his response was “No” and his sons died. Honor!

We also have similar stories of POWs in the Hanoi Hilton. Under extreme duress, starvation, physical torture, years of solitary confinement, many also had honor and refused to renounce America.

So what happened? Where are examples of such honor today? It’s still out there but not where it needs to be. There are millions of honorable Americans who defend our country every day but it seems to be a trait void among our elected elite. Today honor has been supplanted by a self-serving thirst of greed, influence, corruption, money and power. Where is the honor when our President releases a forged birth certificate, proven so by 16 independent forensic experts, and 535 Members of Congress and the media turn a blind eye? Where is the honor when the Supreme Court refuses to hear any of the 30 or so cases sent to it dealing with Mr. Obama’s constitutional eligibility? Or the Court clerks withhold evidentiary documents from the Justices needed to make decisions? Where is the honor when a President, Congress and the Supreme Court fails to honor their Oath of Office as a matter of routine?

Considering our current severe spending and debt problem, where is the honor when Nancy Pelosi considers it beneath her dignity to take a pay cut? Or when the Senate refuses to pass a budget, required by law, four years running? Where is the honor when DOJ drops a case against the New Black Panthers for voter intimidation, claiming insufficient evidence, when the incident is recorded on several video tapes? Where is the honor when four Americans are killed in Benghazi, the Administration puts forth a false story line and lies for weeks, and Members of Congress ask softball questions and the media asks none? A Republic can’t long endure without an honest, probing media.

Where is the honor, considering our spending crisis, when Mr. Obama prefers golf to negotiation, and spends an estimated $1 billion a year of taxpayer money on vacations for himself, his family and his dog? Where is the honor when Congress sets a limited work week as a matter or routine and can give themselves a pay raise without a roll call vote? Where is the honor when a President lies with almost every breath, it is blatantly obvious, yet the media says and does nothing? Where is the honor when the President talks about strengthening the middle class yet virtually every decision he makes serves to divide the nation along race, economic, religious and cultural lines? Where is the honor when Democrats call Republicans a “culture of corruption” but when caught doing the same activities it’s just “politics?” And if you lie to Congress it’s a felony but when Congress lies to you, again it just “politics.”

Where is the honor when the Administration and the Courts show obvious favoritism towards one religion and prejudice against all the others when our First Amendment clearly says otherwise? Or when the Administration claims to be the most transparent in history and moves from one cover up to another and through one Executive Order after another shelters documents, witnesses and staff members from the scrutiny of Congress? Where is the honor when politicians parse words, obfuscate and misinform so as to circumvent the Constitution for their own agenda? Where is the honor in pushing our Constitutional Republic towards a “nation of men” instead of, as founded, a “nation of laws?” Where is the honor of living off the Government dole, expecting others to provide you with food, shelter, security and prosperity? Where is the honor in hyping up events far beyond what is reasonably expected so as to garner support for your side, or blaming others when you’re guilty too? Where is the honor in a President deliberately weakening the Armed Forces through budget cuts, cultural changes and social experiments when national security is that President’s number one constitutional obligation?

Where is the honor in a President who is quick to take credit for all that happens that’s good and super quick to cast blame on others when it’s not? Where is the honor in placing “politics” and scoring political points above national security, fiscal stability, personal liberty, national and personal prosperity, and the welfare of the nation? Where is the honor in trying to disarm our citizens, usurping their God given, Constitutionally protected rights while arming Muslim nations who are our potential enemies? Where should our priorities lie? There are treasonous events all through this listing that could go on for another ten pages.

Where is the honor when American citizens sit idly by, watch all this take place, and do nothing? Where is the public’s outcry regarding Fast and Furious, Benghazi, massive voter fraud, political corruption and the shredding of our Constitution? Or the media’s obvious bias for one political party over the other? Where are the example of honor to hold up to our posterity so that future generations of Americans can still live in an honorable and free country given to us by our Founding Fathers? There is a cavernous difference between the character, integrity and honor of our Founders and that of our ruling class elites today. That must change if we’re to continue as a free nation. When society becomes immoral, corrupted and dishonorable to the point it is today, it soon collapses.
