The Patriot Post® · 'Tolerant' Often Intolerant
Anecdotal evidence proves that most Americans are TOLERANT to a fault. The masses are too busy and absorbed in their own day-to-day and their itty-bitty ubiquitous devices to get involved even in thinking about critical topics of the day.
Forgiveness is an essential element of life and the bible answers the question of how many times to forgive, saying seventy time seven, meaning endless. The problem is with grown children into their forties and fifties, addicted to alcohol from teenage years, and having perhaps done the twelve steps multiple times, and constantly forgiven by parents, siblings, friends, and relatives; at what point, if any, does tough love come into play and the umbilical safety cord be cut, and does that negate forgiveness or not? Where is the dividing line between forgiving and enabling?
Or if one is hell-bent on not forgiving, and when your church preaches the wrong sermon; God, Jesus Christ, and the Ten Commandments, simply pull an Obama and go to a church that will preach a self-serving sermon. Problem solved…Or that can kicked down the road ala Congress.
Forgiveness and tolerance are two different things, and many take pride in their tolerance that is misguided because though it is right and proper to tolerate and respect the person, it does not follow that devious views or lifestyles of these conflicted persons should receive the same respect.
Too many are wrapped up in the concept of tolerance that virtually respects the sin along with the sinner and cannot comprehend that as far as deviate behavior is concerned, one must love the sinner but hate the sin. A majority tends to put both in the same basket and TOLERATE the sin along with the sinner. Tolerate is its own form of intolerance when the new-age tolerant are then intolerant as far as the accused intolerant who do in fact tolerate the sinner but not the sin. Am I missing something here?
American culture is bored and demands change, no matter the consequences, good, bad, or indifferent. Americans have been promised “change” since the 2008 presidential election, and change they got, no matter that it appears to be for the worse. Change need not be from bad to good or good to better, or even to best.
The more things change, the more they stay the same, or go from bad to worse, worser, to worst, as Keith Olbermann was wont to say on his TV platform. Boredom is Satan’s domain in which he works best for the rest to be worse.
Einstein is famous for his not really original quote, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result.” The only thing that cannot ever change is the immutable God and his admonitions and advice, but that is considered harsh and distasteful.
God has given His Ten Commandments to serve as guidelines for safe and sanitary life, but excessive useless counter-productive Government laws, regulations, and mandates create social and moral problems when all that needs be done is to abide by what the Bible says in Genesis, “By the sweat of thy brow will thou earn your bread.” Today everything is free, no work required or even recommended, so how is the reviled physical obesity going to be worked off while the moral obesity is piling up morally regressive pounds?
