All manner of politicians and pundits are crying out for the United States to punish the Assad regime for its use of chemical weapons on its own people. The Chinese and Russians have taken the side of Assad and warned of dire consequences should the United States act unilaterally in Syria’s civil war and punish the Assad government. The British government has washed its hands of the entire affair. The Obama administration with a weak and dysfunctional foreign policy, untenable domestic policy and disastrous economic policies is now blustering on a world stage that dismisses it as irrelevant.

This perception, deserved or not, could very well bring the world to the brink of all out war over what is essentially a Muslim civil war in a failed nation. Should by some miracle the actions of the Obama administration result in the overthrow of the Assad regime without inciting WW III, what then? Will the Muslim conflicts in the Middle East suddenly cease and peace reign throughout the land?

There is no doubt that the use of chemical weapons is a cowardly and despicable act deserving of some action by the world community. The real question then is should the United States be the sole deliverer of that action without any assistance by the world community? Why not let the Russians or Chinese handle this one?

The Obama administration with it’s apology tour, support of Muslim causes and outright ineptitude brought about the current Mideast conditions. How can we Americans expect that they will be able to solve the problems they wrought?

There must come a time when the United States government heeds the words of The Mahatma Gandhi when he said, "What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty and democracy?“

The solution to the twin evils of Islamic terrorism and Muslim sectarian violence are entirely within the realm of the Muslim world community. Could the United States or any other non Muslim nation ever solve the Muslim world’s problems? The best we can do is protect ourselves but we must remember, as Dwight Eisenhower said, "We will bankrupt ourselves in the vain search for absolute security.”
