Rod Serling was an American original, a genius.

In 1959 he produced an episode of “The Twilight Zone” titled “It’s A Good Life”, featuring, in Rod Serling’s words, a “monster” that terrorized the little town of Peaksville. The monster was in the form of a churlish, malevolent little boy who possessed immense power which he used to punish anyone who displeased him. In the end, that included just about everyone in the entire country.

Tell me if that sounds like anybody we’ve heard of lately.

Here’s the clip:

The episode, based on a short story by Jerome Bixby, is a brilliant, prescient picture of what you can expect from someone with unfettered power, but with absolutely no concept of Honor, wisdom or compassion. Today, we’re watching a real-life version of this play out.

In the current version, however, it isn’t clear exactly who is orchestrating the events we are seeing…(“…now it’s payback time…”). In order to get their way, there doesn’t appear to be any limit to the harm these people, whoever they might be, are willing to inflict on the country, it’s institutions, or the people.

What we are seeing is a malicious treatment of the country, a deliberate assault, done for the apparent purpose of forcing authoritarian control on Congress and the American People. Until someone puts a stop to it, we haven’t seen the worst of it.

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" – Edmund Burke

Think any of this is over the top? Stick around and we’ll see where it goes from here. I wish I was just making this stuff up.
