The Patriot Post® · Pope Francis Named Time's 'Person of the Year'
Time magazine chose Pope Francis as its 2013 Person of the Year, beating President Barack Obama, Republican Senator Ted Cruz and several others for the top honor.
Pope Francis was selected from a short list of candidates including Syrian President Bashar Assad, Amazon founder and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, President Barack Obama, Senator Ted Cruz, gay rights activist Edith Windsor, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and Miley Cyrus…Miley Cyrus???… Consideration of Cyrus and the Pope for the same award puts this “Person of the Year” award into proper perspective; the trash can.
Beware of honors prematurely bestowed, not for what has already been done to earn the award, but in anticipation of what MIGHT be. Nobel Peace Prize Committee set the precedent for this type mistake, when it politically awarded the Peace Prize Medal to President Barack Obama, and the World knows how that turned out, with Obama creating civil wars and new Middle East rebellions, wars, riots, insurrection, and use of poisonous gas agents, all spawned by their anointed one.
“Rarely has a new player on the world stage captured so much attention so quickly,” said Time Managing Editor Nancy Gibbs Wednesday. “In his nine months in office, he has placed himself at the very center of the central conversations of our time: about wealth and poverty, fairness and justice, transparency, modernity, globalization, the role of women, the nature of marriage, the temptations of power.”
Gibbs pointed out that “The 76-year-old Pope has no army or weapons, no kingdom beyond a tight fist of land in the middle of Rome, but with the immense wealth and weight of history behind, to throw down a challenge… Francis has become something of a rock star.”
Francis has been declared to be “A Pope For Our Time,” but Jesus himself declined earthly and rock star honors as a King who would multiply the loaves and fishes forever, but provided only one-time welfare “food stamps” that pretender President Obama would multiply ad infinitum in return for popularity, power, and votes. Jesus was not interested in earthly honors, rock stardom, and popularity.
Is Pope Francis a true reformer to correct church wrongs including those done by sexually deviant, often homosexual priests, or is he radical like Obama who is dedicated to the “Fundamental transformation of the United States?”
To its chagrin, America is learning the hard way that “CHANGE” can also be from bad to worse as seems to be the case. Will changes and words of Francis create more problems than they solve?
One thing has already been proven when Francis declined his responsibility to judge offending priests that cost the church about one-third of its membership and related contributions, plus over one $Billion in damages to victims with his copout statement, “Who am I to judge?”
If Pope Francis would only read the Bible command when Jesus gave power; “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it… "Whosoever sins you forgive, They are forgiven; Whosoever sins you retain, They are retained.” How can forgiveness or retention of sins be done without judging which action is appropriate?
Francis rekindled a sense of hope for the homosexual community and so-called “Cafeteria Catholics” that choose church teachings they will follow or not. Traditionalists are troubled about this break from tradition telegraphed by Francis. Many faithful question the underlying agenda of Francis and how he “transforms” the Church. A new book, “Francis: A Pope for Our Time,” raise serious questions, equating the church as changing immutable doctrine to accommodate the easy pick and choose beliefs according to moderns “Our Time.”
Question is whether Pope Francis is following the failing President Obama “Transformation of the US” blueprint that lends possible credence to the likes of WND.com, who claim that Saint Malachy, who lived in Ireland in the 12th century, prophesized a rather accurate sequential order of popes, ending with current Pope Francis. Regardless, “Tempus Fugit,” and as Jesus said, “No one knows when that day or hour will come; not the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father’ so the only recourse for mankind is to be prepared, always.
