Edmund Burke in the 18th Century made a profound statement of particular portent to 21st Century times: “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Do not allow evil to triumph. Do not do sit by and do nothing.” Another Burke saying significant to the times: “Better be despised for too anxious apprehensions, than ruined by too confident security.” Burke also observed, “Men are qualified for civil liberty in exact proportion to their disposition to put moral chains upon their own appetites.”
Moral chains in the 21st Century are too binding, restrictive, old school, uninformed, and intolerant. Burke addresses intolerance: “Toleration is good for all, or it is good for none.” This Burke statement applies to most activist groups be they homosexual, environmentalist, anti-religious, abortionist, feminist, or objectors of the Ten Commandments. Liberals in general, as pertains to extreme Liberal causes emulate the Three Wise Monkeys – “Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil” – except against the Moral Right. Intolerance by extreme Liberals is attributed only to those disputing their viewpoint, or as Obama puts it, “No negotiation; my way or the highway.”
Giacomo Leopardi speaks to those Liberal Intolerant: “No human trait deserves less tolerance in everyday life, and gets less, than intolerance.” Liberals are generally intolerant of everything good, ranging from Religion, Christianity, Bible, Life, Education, Energy, Parents, Conservatives, and everything traditionally good and holy.
Liberal theory holds that Government knows what is best for everyone, particularly that divergence from Government mandating and forced acceptance of anti-religious principles, or be subject to financial penalties and imprisonment.
When good men do nothing, evil triumphs. Too many take the attitude that nothing they do will help, and it is best to just grin and bear it. That is precisely what happened to Nazi Germany that was mesmerized by power of Hitler speeches resulting in WWII, one of the worst man-caused casualties and damage in recorded history.
Not much has been learned by younger Americans below the age of senior citizens, as many of the younger unappreciative adapted to easy going with inheritances of hard-earned wealth accumulated by thrift and frugality of parents and ancestors whose wealth genesis resulted from experiencing the agony of the Great Depression and WWII. Now those who have not earned it demand instant gratification, as the J.G. Wentworth commercial proclaims, “It’s my money and I want it now.”
Younger generations down to virtual infants, are addicted to cell phone apps that can answer most any query about FACTS that might be truisms, but cannot connect the dots and do not go beyond the facts to interpret underlying meanings. “Freedom” can be looked up but does not preclude the necessity to earn and maintain it, as forecast by Founders, particularly Thomas Jefferson who foresaw loss of freedom.
According to J. David Gowdy:
“LIBERTY!” The very word evokes hope and stirs the inner soul of man. Throughout the course of time, individuals and nations oppressed by the yoke of tyranny or bondage have cried out for liberty’s reprise and have sought for the comfort of its soothing rays. Revolution and war have oft been its price. Few nations have ever obtained it, let alone maintained it. Why so rare this prize for which so much blood and so many tears have been shed? Is its definition misunderstood? What is liberty and how is it secured, or more portentous, how is it lost?“
Patrick Henry concurred with opinions of righteous Founders:
"Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom. No free government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue; and by a frequent recurrence to Fundamental Principles.”
Nothing but lies emanate from the mouth of the anointed one, seconded by minions and lemming followers who echo the lies. Seeming truths are merely another form of lie, typified by VP Joe Biden who put things into exact contrary context: “Bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive” – the exact opposite of what should have been. Defenseless Osama was killed, contrary to the Geneva Convention, forever burying information more valuable to the U.S. than the death of Osama.
Bankrupt GM was given a structured settlement engineered by Obama for union benefit with massive bailouts that would eventually cost U.S. taxpayers billions. Under existing bankruptcy laws, GM could have shed its onerous union agreements, leases, duplicate plants and operations, possibly split into about seven individual efficient job-saving corporations that could have functioned “lean and mean.” Saving GM was payback to unions and meant continuation of policies that would eventually repeat the bad process, while undoing intended good consequences.
Simplistic as it sounds, Satan is the father of lies, and the Obama administration “Lives by the lie, and therefore will die by the lie,” as personified by Obama who has innumerable lies recorded for posterity. Problem being that too many are in denial and refuse to hold the feet of lying perpetrators to the fire. Rose-colored glass class may take down all the “Live and let live” lazy citizens who will not involve themselves in the political process on the lame excuse, “What good will it do?”
“Truth Or Consequences” was a 1940s game show in which contestants had to answer an off-the-wall question that usually could not be answered correctly in the two seconds allotted. If the contestant could not complete the “Truth” portion, there would be “Consequences,” usually an embarrassing stunt. In the case of Obama lies, no lie seems to embarrass “The man who came to dinner,” who with ingratitude, took ownership of the entire house.
Lies spread downward through the rank and file when emanating from the highest authorities of the land, President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker John Boehner and predecessor Nancy Pelosi, and Chief Justice John Roberts, plus a cast of thousands. Particularly serial liars can never be trusted as no good can come from those who would not know the truth if it came up behind them and bit them in the posterior.
