President Obama met Pope Francis in a historic meeting in the Vatican, exchanged gifts and token words, another photo-op for Obama, who for his presidential library must already have amassed millions of photos of his majestic profile depicting himself as the second coming of historic pharaohs.

Obama presented Francis with a seed chest with fruit and vegetable seeds used in the White House Garden, in reciprocation of the Pope opening the gardens of the papal summer residence to the public. The chest was custom-made of leather and reclaimed wood from the Baltimore Basilica, one of the oldest Catholic cathedrals in the U.S, and inscribed with the date of their meeting. Francis presented Obama with a copy of his papal mission statement decrying a global economic system that excludes the poor. Obama said he will keep it in the Oval Office.

Obama perceives Pope Francis to be a kindred spirit who is viewed by the media as an agent of change in the Catholic Church, much like Obama proclaimed himself to be the agent of change by his transformation of the U.S. Ignored is the fact that change is not always for the better, but more often than not, change is from bad to worse.

The relationship between the Obama administration and the Catholic Church is precarious. and no doubt Obama will not leave the Vatican without having heard the official views from the horse’s mouth on ObamaCare and its objectionable mandates for abortion, contraception, and sterilization. The White House sees agreement on economic policies with Francis, who like Obama, emphasizes economic disparity, poverty, and inequality of wages, as a form of moral validation of the similar agenda of Obama.

Prior to the meeting, Obama told interviewers, “Given his great moral authority, when the pope speaks it carries enormous weight, He can cause people around to the world to stop and perhaps rethink old attitudes and begin treating one another with more decency and compassion.”

Those words are the Obama hope that Francis will not offer substantial objection to ObamaCare that is fraught with abortion, contraception, and sterilization. Homosexual behavior and same-sex marriage is the second immutable force dividing the two leaders.

Obama has a history of victory over the church in the U.S. as he hoodwinked renowned universities of Notre Dame and Georgetown, along with leaders including NY Cardinal Dolan and a host of others. Those include V.P. Joe Biden, Sec. of State John Kerry, along with a laundry list of catholic-in name-only (CINO) members of Congress, headlined by Democrat Speakers Nancy Pelosi and Republican John Boehner.

Which side, if any, will benefit from this historic (always described as historic by the Precedent) meeting of two influential world leaders, that will not melt the ice of uncompromisable differences between the two sides. Obama has long and loudly proclaimed that he will not compromise or negotiate, and one can be assured that these are the last days if Francis and the Church compromise on abortion and the validity of the homosexual agenda.

This meeting will be of no permanent value if it just another dog and pony showcase for Obama. In golf the saying is “Drive for show; Putt for dough.” No doubt it was a tremendous drive and a great show. Now the question, “Who will sink this most vital putt?”
