Hillary and the Rapist (No, Not Bill)

The Democrats have had great success over the years in rallying votes from women, especially single women, by claiming that the Republicans are waging a “War on Women”. In 2012, Obama won the vote of unmarried women by 67% to 31% using this tactic (although Romney won the vote of married women by 53% to 46%, who presumably either could take care of themselves, or rejected Big Daddy Government in favor of a traditional protector and provider, a husband).

As “proof” of this war Democrats point to the oft-debunked myth of a 77% “wage gap” between men and women in the workplace, GOP opposition to forcing taxpayers to fund contraception and, of course, the long-standing GOP support for the right of unborn children to take their first breath, as opposed to Democrats, who demand an uninhibited “right” to abortion under the rubric of a “woman’s right to choose”.

Yet if one wants to see the true face of a War on Women, one has to look no farther than the presumed front-runner for the 2016 Democrat Party presidential nomination, Hillary Rodham Clinton who, in 1975, volunteered to defend Thomas Alfred Taylor, one of two men accused of raping a 12-year old girl. Despite not being a public defender, and therefore under no obligation to take the case, Clinton readily accepted the case and attacked the task of getting her client acquitted.

To be sure, every accused person deserves a vigorous defense if they are going to be deprived of life, liberty, or property at the hands of the government. However, the justice system is ostensibly in place to find the truth, and punish the guilty.

That is not the path Hillary Rodham took. In her defense of this child rapist, she took a scorched earth approach, attacking the credibility of the child victim, accusing her of making the story up, of having “an unusual stubbornness and temper when she doesn’t get her way”, and claiming that (according to a child psychologist she allegedly consulted) young girls from troubled homes have a tendency to “exaggerate or romanticize sexual experiences.” Clinton proceeded to destroy the young girl and her credibility, and as a result was able to secure a plea bargain for Taylor, who was released with time served in the county jail after only two months for raping this poor child.

As horrific as that outcome was, just as disturbing, if not more so, was Hillary’s outright glee in the result, considering the fact that she knew her client was guilty, as evidenced by her own admission during an interview with Arkansas journalist Roy Reed, who was interviewing the Clintons as part of a piece on rising political stars for Esquire Magazine.

As originally reported in the Washington Free Beacon, during the interview with Reed, Hillary freely admitted that she knew Taylor was guilty, joking that it forever destroyed her “faith in polygraphs” at seeing her client pass one. Clinton exploited a mistake made by the crime lab in the chain of custody of Taylor’s underwear, which were soaked in the victim’s blood from the rape.

The Esquire piece was never published, and Reed’s interview tapes were eventually donated to the University of Arkansas, where it was forgotten about for decades. Then, when Hillary Rodham Clinton was running for president in 2008, Newsday writer Glenn Thrush wrote an extensive article on Hillary’s attack on the child victim, thought it would never see the light of day, having been delayed and buried by Thrush’s editor because “it might have an impact” on Hillary’s chances of winning the nomination. Hillary would get additional help from the dean of the University of Arkansas, demanding Thrush remove the audio from the website, claiming they had intellectual property rights to it.

The story was brought back to life recently when Josh Rogan of The Daily Beast tracked down the victim and interviewed her about the horrible ordeal she was forced to endure, and the additional insult of having her rapist get off with only two months in jail and, of course, having Hillary Clinton, the supposed role model for women everywhere, joking about getting her attacker off without additional jail time.

In Rogan’s interview, the victim, now 52-years old (name withheld to insure privacy), said “Hillary Clinton took me through Hell,” and called her a hypocrite for pretending she is a champion of women’s rights. The victim continued, “I would say [to Clinton], ‘You took a case of mine in '75, you lied on me… I realize the truth now, the heart of what you’ve done to me. And you are supposed to be for women? You call that [being] for women, what you done to me? And I hear you on tape laughing.”

As First lady of Arkansas and then as First Lady of the United States, Hillary was a willing, enthusiastic participant in efforts to cover up or distract from husband Bill’s numerous instances of womanizing, sexual harassment, and rape.

The most famous, of course, was his affair with Monica “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” Lewinsky, a young, star-struck White House intern thrilled by the attention given her by The Leader of the Free World. Though she was very young and impressionable, and Bill was married, it was clearly consensual, and therefore the least egregious of his infidelities. There was also Gennifer Flowers, with whom Bill had a 12-year affair, whom Hillary tried to discredit as “trailer trash”.

Her attacks on the victims of Bill’s aggression continued, from the sexual harassment of Paula Jones (he exposed himself and sexually propositioned her in an Arkansas hotel room), to the sexual assault of Kathleen Willey (whom he groped and kissed against her will in the White House), to the rape of Juanita Broaddrick. In each instance, Hillary maneuvered to discredit the victims and protect her husband’s political career in order to protect and further her own ambitions.

Democrats blasted Republican Mitt Romney in 2011 for having “binders full of women”, referring to the binders of bios and resumes that his staff brought to him in order to consider more women for staff positions. Get that? Romney was blasted for proactively seeking to hire qualified women in his administration.

Yet Bill Clinton has a decades-long history of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape, and his wife Hillary, presumably the front-runner for the 2016 Democrat Party presidential nomination, jokes about setting free a child rapist, and the Democrat Party and its media echo chamber are utterly silent. Where is the wall-to-wall coverage of this scandal by ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times?

The silence is deafening.

There is indeed a war being waged against women and girls, but it comes from the Democrat side of the divide, not the Republican. If given the choice, I suspect most women would choose convicting rapists over getting free birth control.
