Rock Pile or Cathedral?

Rona Swanson · Aug. 22, 2014

“A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.” –Antoine de Saint-Exupery

How we see things.

It makes all of the difference in the world.

When we face the future with a sense of eager anticipation, everything is sunlit and golden.

When we face the future and what could be with a sense of dread and a desire to avoid it, life is lived in the shadows.

We can even see one another as rock piles (hopeless messes) or cathedrals (glorious creations erected to glorify God).

Maybe we need a vision test today.

Maybe we need some corrective lenses.

I pray that we take on God’s view of what will be…and know that in every rock pile there is the potential of a towering cathedral!

Romans 15:13, The Message: “May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!”

Daniel 12:3, The Message (MSG): "Men and women who have lived wisely and well will shine brilliantly, like the cloudless, star-strewn night skies. And those who put others on the right path to life will glow like stars forever.“
