The Politically Correct Armed Insurgency JV Team

On Wednesday January 28th, and Thursday January 29th, White House Deputy Press Secretary Eric Shultz referred to the Taliban, the enemy we have been fighting for 14 years, and the same group that helped Al Qaeda bring down the twin towers, as an “armed insurgency.” This blatant refusal to call a terrorist group what they are is only harming our foreign policy and leading to the degradation of our ability to defend ourselves from further attacks. We cannot hope to win this war if we try to gloss over these terrorist groups. Names reflect a deeper phobia – fear of coming to grips with the problem and acting to resolve it. We can no longer simply accept this attitude from our elected officials. It’s time they stop beating around the bush with these issues and take a stand that will insure our country’s stability and security.

Mr. Shultz is quoted as saying that “The threat from the Taliban is acute if you are a service member in Afghanistan or if you are a U.S. diplomat or contractor working in Afghanistan.” He went on to state that the difference between the two is that Al Qaeda has much more “global aspirations.” He said that the Taliban rely on “terror tactics” but they have “been principally focused on Afghanistan.” Sure didn’t feel that way on 9/11 when Al Qaeda, with the aid of the Taliban, slaughtered 3,000 people. This is the same terrorist organization that butchered almost 140 children in a terrorist attack in Pakistan (so much for the focus on Afghanistan). This is the same terrorist organization that just yesterday (January 30th) killed 3 more American workers. For an “armed insurgency,” they sure do act like terrorists.

Instead of focusing on American lives, once again the Obama administration is playing word games, trying to make the world seem better than it is, and trying to justify administration actions that are unjustifiable. This whole exchange was in response to journalistic criticism over our trade with the Taliban for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. The Obama administration traded five terrorists for a deserter, and now they are criticizing the Jordanian government for attempting to do something similar. Instead of admitting that the U.S. set a precedent that will only end with more dead bodies, once again this administration is trying to twist reality to cast their actions in a positive light. This is a dangerous and costly line to walk, one that will end up costing more American lives. Recent reports indicate that the terrorists we released for Sgt. Bergdahl are already trying to contact the Taliban to get back into the fight (even though we told them not to, and expected that they would, of course, obey). With a few thousand troops still left in Afghanistan, these terrorists have plenty of targets to choose from.

We are partially responsible for this absolute political debacle unfolding before our eyes. For years we have tolerated this political correctness garbage, even when we all knew it was a lie. No wonder that this story isn’t trending anywhere. Instead, the latest trailers for Ted 2 and the Terminator are the big buzz. Who cares? The American public have become so used to politicians standing a podium spouting political correct wind that we simply turn the other cheek and ignore them. Well now it’s gone to far. Now our “leaders” are making “distinctions” that will end up costing American lives. We have reached the point of no return. Either we stand up now for what we believe in or we might as well surrender. How can we fight an enemy that we aren’t even allowed to call the enemy? How can we fight terrorists that aren’t actually terrorists (but use terror tactics…)? How can we stop the spread of radical Islam is we aren’t allowed to call it that out of fear of offending a few spineless individuals? Enough.

We are at war. We are fighting radical Islamic terrorists. We have a government that is so hopelessly incompetent in this fight that they don’t even know that they are fighting. We elected this government. We choose a leader who would rather talk than act. These are facts. There is no changing them. You can either accept them or do something about them, or you can back to your YouTube video and pretend that everything is just wonderful.

This is your country. You are all Americans. Act like it. Americans don’t sit back and let the world turn. Americans change the world. Americans fight. Americans win. Americans don’t let stuffy suited politicians promote policies that will fail. That great American spirit that shaped the world is still within all of us.

The path we must embark on is not an easy one. Change must happen, war must be fought, and good men will die. If freedom is to prevail, we must be bold enough to throw off the shackles of political correctness and march forward, confident that freedom and justice will once again triumph.

Ronald Reagan, facing the threat of nuclear annihilation from the Soviet Union stated what we must do best: “They say we offer simple answers to complex problems. Well, perhaps there is a simple answer—not an easy answer—but simple: If you and I have the courage to tell our elected officials that we want our national policy based on what we know in our hearts is morally right.”
