Maybe the House Judiciary Committee should go home early now that former special counsel Robert Mueller has already definitively stated that his two-year investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election was not so much as sneezed on by President Trump.
Georgia Republican Rep. Doug Collins at the top of the hearing, which is expected to last for several more hours, asked Mueller at the very top if his exhaustive, invasive probe was in any way “curtailed or stopped or hindered” by the president or the White House.
Mueller, fulfilling Democrats’ great hope that he would bring his 400-page report “to life,” said simply, “no.”
Democrats have all but dropped any hope of finding a conspiracy between the Trump 2016 campaign and Russia, perhaps because Mueller’s report definitively stated that it found none, so their fever dreams rest on the assertion that Trump, at least in his heart, wanted to obstruct and stop the special counsel’s investigation.
Well, now they have their answer, for the 100th time.
