A female New York Police Department officer is being lauded after video surfaced of her carrying a young girl to safety after she was wounded during a shooting in Times Square.

“Whether they’re rushing toward the danger to help save a little girl or rushing home to family after their tour this #MothersDay — the dedication of NY’s Finest knows no bounds,” NYPD Deputy Commissioner John Miller tweeted Sunday, accompanied by the video.

Video shows Officer Alyssa Vogul rushing down Broadway and toward an ambulance while holding the 4-year-old girl, Skye Martinez, on Saturday. The girl was shot while shopping for toys with her parents.

ANDREW YANG SAYS NYC ‘CANNOT AFFORD TO DEFUND THE POLICE’ AFTER TIMES SQUARE SHOOTING

The shooting allegedly unfolded when a group of men began arguing, with at least one man pulling a gun and shooting bullets. Three people were injured, including Martinez in the leg, a 23-year-old female tourist in the thigh, and a 43-year-old woman in the foot.

Police identified Farrakhan Muhammad as a suspect in the shooting.

The video of the officer comes at a time when anti-police sentiment has ticked up amid calls to reform and defund police departments that were sparked by recent incidents in which police officers injured or killed black people.

Failed 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, who is running for mayor in New York City, hit back against calls to defund police, however, pointing to the New York Police Department officers who responded to the Times Square shooting.

“The truth is that New York City cannot afford to defund the police,” Yang said Sunday.

“Nothing works in our city without public safety, and for public safety, we need the police,” Yang said. “My message to the NYPD is this: New York needs you. Your city needs you. We need you to do your jobs professionally, responsibly, and justly.”
