CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin is back with the network eight months after being suspended for exposing himself to his co-workers at New Yorker magazine on a Zoom call.
“Well, obviously, I wasn’t thinking very well or very much, and it was something that was inexplicable to me,” Toobin told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota Thursday. It was his first television appearance since the masturbation incident, which resulted in him being suspended by CNN and fired by the New Yorker.

Toobin said that he thought his camera was turned off, but he conceded “that is not a defense” for his “deeply moronic and indefensible” behavior, adding that it’s “part of the story.”
Toobin lost his job at the New Yorker in November of last year as a result of the indecent exposure incident a month before, which reportedly happened during a meeting with colleagues about the 2020 presidential election.
CNN opted not to fire Toobin but rather to give him some time off “while he deals with a personal issue” and essentially took a leave of absence.
A CNN spokesperson said that Toobin “will be back on CNN regularly in his chief legal analyst role.”

“I am trying to become the kind of person that people can trust again,” Toobin told Camerota, adding that he has spent his “miserable months” off-air “trying to be a better person” and attending therapy.
CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Washington Examiner.
