“There’s too many men, too many people making too many problems. And there’s not much love to go ‘round. Can’t you see this is the land of confusion?” —lyrics by Mike Rutherford of Genesis

The confusion experienced by many Americans is not due to the heatwave over the Midwest but to the gaslighting of the public by the media, led as usual by coastal elites and assisted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

In Paris, France, the opening ceremony seemed to be mocking “The Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci. Until it wasn’t. Featuring a lesbian and drag queens and led by a nearly nude man painted blue (representing Dionysius, the Greek god of fertility, wine, and revelry), it actually represented a pagan feast, according to its artistic director. Strange how this piece of communicative art was so ambiguous. Not satisfied with that travesty, the IOC allowed two boxers who have XY chromosomes to compete in women’s boxing. This was in conflict with the International Boxing Association (IBA), which ruled they couldn’t compete.

The IBA claimed it had definitive evidence these two were not female but have refused to disclose it. The IOC claimed they were female because their passports said so. One of the boxers, Imane Khelif, delivered such fierce punches to his (her?) opponent, Angel Carini, that Carini quit the fight after 46 seconds.

The director of the Secret Service, addressing the near-assassination of former President Donald Trump, accepted full responsibility for the near-catastrophic failure. And then blamed the multiple failures on local law enforcement.

President Joe Biden was said to be a dynamo — running circles around staffers, making pointed inquiries, and directing policy — until the debate with Trump, during which he made the unintelligible claim that “We finally beat Medicare.” Subsequent appearances confirmed what many Americans had concluded — Biden was a spent force.

Vice President Kamala Harris assumed the title of presumptive nominee without ever having won one vote for that position. Within hours she claimed to have the support of hundreds of delegates. She has since been described as “dynamite,” a “trailblazer,” and a “champion.” One would think she invented the Internet and was the inspiration for “Love Story” — except Al Gore did that. And if you are confused, this is the same vice president who has a staff turnover rate of 92%; who was against fracking until she wasn’t; who was for a mandatory buyback of assault weapons until she wasn’t; who was appointed border czar by Biden until that was never the case; who supported a fund for rioters after the death of George Floyd until she didn’t; and who claimed Biden was fully fit to run again for office when everyone knew he wasn’t.

But rest assured — she is not the one confused; you are.

One expects a politician to change some of his views over time. Both Trump and Vance have. But Harris changes hers by the hour, abetted by the media that advocates for her.

But let clarity reign. Food is more expensive than four years ago, as are gasoline, car insurance, dining out, mortgages, and a host of other things. Crime is up, and millions of illegal immigrants are due free healthcare, housing, and education at your expense, according the Democrats. Let that factor into your decision in November.
