As most of you know, I had the great honor of working alongside Dr. James Dobson over the years. Dr. Dobson had two great passions, which I shared—God’s institution of the family and Christian citizenship.
Dr. Dobson was a powerful ally during my time in the Reagan White House. And after I left the Reagan administration, I partnered with Dr. Dobson to transform the Family Research Council from a three-person office in debt into a multi-million-dollar organization with more than 100 employees.
Many left-wing politicians despised what Dr. Dobson stood for. But many other elected officials were inspired by him. Members of Congress today regularly tell me that Dr. Dobson saved their marriage or helped them deal with a difficult, strong-willed child.
Another big fan is the vice president of the United States. While speaking at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Georgia, a student asked Vice President Vance who helped him shape his conservative beliefs when he was growing up. Vance replied:
“When I was a kid and I was kind of developing my politics, there was actually a radio host, James Dobson, who was really influential to me. He was a good Christian guy. He talked about the family. He talked about things I cared a lot about, and I came from a broken home.
"So, when he talked about the ways in which a broken home had a negative effect on kids, it made sense to me because I was seeing it in my own life. And then here was a guy who was actually talking about it.
"What I liked about him is that he didn’t talk about it in this judgmental way. He wasn’t attacking a kid like me who didn’t have everything handed to him. He was just explaining in a very real world, with a fundamentally Christian underpinning, here’s what happens when things are broken.”
Dr. Dobson would be extremely honored to know how he inspired a young boy growing up in a broken home who would later become vice president of the United States.

What Happened To The Democrats?
Democrats were stunned on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, and none more so than Kamala Harris. The former vice president was “completely shocked” on Election Night. Her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, was “stunned.” They shouldn’t have been. They ran the most hard-left, neo-Marxist campaign in history. That’s why the American people rejected them.
Under JFK, the Democrat Party was for lower taxes. It was pro-life and all in on making America great. Under Bill Clinton, Democrats were for smaller government and deregulation. His mantra was, “The era of big government is over.” Clinton was also tough on crime and illegal immigration, and he was against same-sex marriage. (Actually, he appeared to be against his own marriage.)
Today, Democrats are the party of Hasan Piker, a radical antisemitic and anti-American social media influencer. In spite of his extremist views Democrats rush to appear on his podcast. Democrat leaders today undermine America’s troops in the middle of a war.
Billionaire Tom Steyer is one of the Democrats’ leading candidates for governor of California. He just released his immigration platform and declared that our federal immigration police are “a criminal organization.” He vowed to arrest immigration police officers, prosecute them and put them in jail if he is governor.
So, he’s running on the idea that it’s time for another Civil War by promising to arrest federal law enforcement officers.
Democrats are the party of defund the police, defund homeland security and defund the border. They are the party of abortion on demand. They are the party of child mutilation and taxpayer-funded sex change operations for illegal aliens and prison inmates. They are the party of men in women’s sports and boys in girls’ bathrooms.
They are a party at war with normalcy and every value that defines America.
The Blockade
As Democrats continue to wet their tighty-whities, Gen. Dan “Raizin” Caine gave another Pentagon press briefing Thursday morning. He reiterated that the U.S. Navy is not blockading the Strait of Hormuz but is blockading the ports of Iran.
Gen. Caine also described what happens when a U.S. Navy vessel approaches a ship that has just left an Iranian port and is trying to evade the blockade. He described how a junior officer on the bridge of a destroyer, often very young, will broadcast this stark warning:
“Do not attempt to breach the blockade. Vessels will be boarded for interdiction and seizure transiting to or from Iranian ports. Turn around or prepare to be boarded. If you don’t comply with this blockade, we will use force.”
That sailor is somebody’s son or daughter standing on the bridge of an American destroyer, staring at a potentially hostile vessel, and essentially telling them, “Don’t even think about it. Turn around or we will board you or sink you.”
Compare that courage to Senator or Congressman “Fill in the blank,” representing the vast majority of congressional Democrats and a few Republicans, who are getting their 15 seconds of fame going on talk shows and telling the American people that our military has failed.
Not one of them would have the guts to do what 19 and 20-year-old Americans are doing right now to protect this country. These young Americans are the embodiment of American greatness.
America is being pulled down by egos dressed in suits. Every defeatist word out of their mouths risks demoralizing the soldiers, sailors and airmen in harm’s way right now.
This is what we have been dealing with since Vietnam—a political “leadership” that undermines the men and women willing to risk their lives to defend and protect us. And, if the polls are to be believed, the American people may send even more of them to Congress this November.
Confronting Communist China
Yet another university “researcher” from Communist China has been busted attempting to smuggle a potentially dangerous toxin into the United States. Youhuang Xiang was given a student visa by the Biden administration to conduct biological research at Indiana University.
But officials became suspicious when he received a package marked “women’s underwear” from a Chinese science and tech company. Xiang was detained by immigration officials in November when he returned to the United States after a trip to Great Britain. Under questioning, Xiang admitted that his package of “women’s underwear” actually contained illegal samples of E. coli bacteria.
During the course of the investigation, the FBI discovered that Xiang is a member of the Chinese Communist Party and had lied to immigration officials about his affiliation with the party.
First of all, how many Chinese Communist Party members are doing research at American universities? Last year, three Chinese “researchers” at the University of Michigan were arrested for attempting to smuggle dangerous toxins into the country.
Second, E. coli is relatively easy for university researchers to obtain. So, why the subterfuge of smuggling it into the country from China in a box labeled as women’s underwear?
One possibility is that Communist China is planning to bring in much more deadly pathogens into the United States, and they are probing our weaknesses to discover what smuggling methods may or may not work.
But don’t worry too much about that because the really important thing is that we maintain our access to cheap Chinese-made goods. (Sarcasm.)
In related news, the White House is reportedly investigating the sudden deaths and disappearances of 10 American scientists from 2023 to last month.
I’m always careful about things like this because there are often logical explanations, and what may seem to be a strange set of circumstances may not be statistically out of the ordinary. But we are living in dangerous times, and prudence demands caution.
Vance Fights Fraud
Last month, President Trump tasked Vice President J.D. Vance with leading the administration’s effort to crack down on waste, fraud and abuse in federal spending. The scale of the fraud, as we have seen in Minneapolis, is breathtaking.
This is an extremely important task given that the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office estimates that as much as $500 billion of taxpayer money is lost every year to fraud. That’s enough money to send $5,000 checks to every taxpayer.
Vice President Vance’s anti-fraud task force announced this week that it has suspended Medicare payments to 447 hospices and 23 home health agencies in Los Angeles for $600 million in suspected fraudulent activity.
That’s likely just the tip of the iceberg. There are nearly 1,800 hospices licensed in Los Angeles County—six times the national average relative to the region’s elderly population. That is one sick county!
Graham Weighs In
Here’s an update on the AI-generated image posted by President Trump that caused so much controversy earlier this week. Reverend Franklin Graham weighed in today, saying:
“I think this is a lot to do about nothing. There is so much ill-intended speculation. I think [Trump’s] enemies are always foaming at the mouth at any possible opportunity to make him look bad.”
Graham noted that the image had no Christian symbols but did have a nurse, U.S. fighter jets, the American flag and the Statue of Liberty.
Rev. Graham also noted that President Trump posted another AI-generated image Wednesday, which you haven’t heard about. It was a picture of Jesus whispering into Trump’s ear. Graham said he liked that image, adding, “We all need that—we all need to be listening to Jesus.”
