The wall I refer to is one of either ignorance or deception that is surrounding you on the issue of anthropogenic global warming. Given the facts, we can draw no other conclusion. The people around you are either ignorant of the facts, or they know them and are being deceptive. Since this issue is a huge reason for why our nation’s freedoms and security are in jeopardy, you are not immune from the blame.
There is no better example of this than your blaming last year’s Texas drought on global warming. The drought was forecasted by myself and others as soon as the Pacific changed to its colder cycle in 2007. On national TV and in blog after blog, references to the 1950s were used to describe what was about to occur. Yet the wall of ignorance or deception resulted in a completely non-factual statement, and in doing so, you degraded the governor of Texas to score cheap political points.
Had you known what you were talking about – had you checked the facts and had you torn down the wall – you would understand that the warm state of the Pacific in the ‘80s and the '90s led to above normal precipitation across Texas and indeed most of the nation!
Had you torn down the wall, you would understand that a warm PDO (Pacific Decadal Oscillation), a natural occurrence, results in more moisture and a more active weather pattern for enhanced precipitation in the United States. You would understand that this would lead to a more favorable climate for plant growth in the U.S. If you had torn down this wall, you would know that the opposite cycle, the cold PDO, leads to the opposite effects. You would know the U.S. dries out as it did in the 1950s.
The dryness that is now occurring is because of the physical realities of the weather pattern, not what your advisors have been telling you.
Even your own government scientists have come around to the idea we warned about several years ago.
“We can now be more confident that the models are correct,” says National Center for Atmospheric Research’s Aiguo Dai, “but unfortunately, their predictions are dire.”
In the United States, the main culprit currently is a cold cycle in the surface temperature of the eastern Pacific Ocean. It decreases precipitation, especially over the western part of the country. “We had a similar situation in the Dust Bowl era of the 1930s,” said Dai.
He is simply forecasting what happened in the 1950s also (the cold cycle of the PDO) because of the same pattern. This was foretold by many private sector climate realists several years ago and is opposite of what you believe.
You would also know that global temperatures would stop rising and begin to cool. So, Mr. President, tear down this wall and look at the temperature trend and how it leveled off compared to the 1990s.
Mr. President, tear down this wall and look at the actual global temperatures – the last three years are in a jagged fall!
Mr. President, tear down this wall around you. Your policies are based on information that is being proven false each day. But you have to look. You have to open your mind to the facts. This is not serving the common good of the nation you lead.
The policies you are pushing are destroying any chance this nation has of becoming self-sufficient. By handcuffing the nation’s economic engine, we are entangled in a morass and weakened to the point that we are in danger at home and abroad. You speak of high-minded ideas. You want to bring back the manufacturing sector. How? With expensive energy and prohibitive regulations and taxes?
As patriots, we beg you to tear down this wall that has trapped you and trapped our nation. A booming economy helps all of us. Imagine unemployment at 3% and $1.50 gas at the pump. We cannot do this by handcuffing the lifeblood of the nation’s economy with energy policies based on falsehoods about the environment.
The fate of the nation hangs in the balance.
Mr. President, TEAR DOWN THIS WALL.
