A Goose-Gander Solution

If you like progressive hypocrisy ladled on with a trowel, it doesn’t get much thicker than the leftist lard overflowing from the offices of the Journal News newspaper in White Plains, N.Y. Shortly after the tragedy at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Conn., these anti-gun fanatics decided that a pushback was in order. Thus, the paper published an interactive Google map containing the names and addresses of all the pistol permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties.

Despite massive blowback from citizens rightly outraged by this selective invasion of privacy, the Journal contends it will continue its crusade and publish names of permit holders in Putnam County as well.

Now in times past, those offended by such jackboot tactics would have sat back and taken it. This time is different. Blogger Robert Cox with “Talk of the Sound” published his own piece entitled “Map: Where are the Journal News employees in your neighborhood?” The title is self-explanatory. Another blogger and gun owner, Christopher Fountain, who writes a post entitled “For What It’s Worth,” followed suit and posted the names, home addresses and phone numbers of the Journal News’ publisher, editor, visual editor and a number of other staff members.

Editor and Vice President Cyndee Royle, who made the original call to publish the permit holders’ names, because “sharing as much information as we could about gun ownership in our area was important in the aftermath of the Newtown shootings,” decided that sharing was a one-way street. She pulled down her Facebook page, and her Tweets are “protected,” meaning that only “confirmed followers” have access to them.

Sorry Cyndee, no soap. Here’s Cyndee’s (married name Lambert), address and home and work phone numbers:

Cynthia R, Lambert

17 Mcbride Ave

White Plains, NY 10603
(914) 948-9388

Ditto for Journal publisher Janet Hasson:

Janet Hasson,

 3 Gate House Lane,

Mamaroneck, NY 10534
(914) 694-5204

And let’s not leave out Dwight R. Worley, the reporter on the story:

Dwight R. Worley

23006 139 Ave

Springfield Gardens, NY 11413
(718) 527-0832

All of the above are courtesy of Christopher Fountain. I’m publishing them as well because “sharing as much information as we could about self-important media types in the area is important in the aftermath of irresponsible publishing decisions.”

Now mind you, I take no particular pleasure in doing something that I might have refrained from doing in the past. But for far too long, those of us who wish to “live and let live” have taken a mountain of crapola from those who consider themselves the doyens of cultural superiority. Self-righteous blowhards who expected us to grin and bear it, shrug our collective shoulders and move on. I can’t speak for everyone else, but I’ve had enough.

And guess what? So have the hypocrites at the Journal. As reported by Politico on Tuesday, the paper “has hired armed security guards to defend its offices.” Like I said above, hypocrisy ladled on with a trowel. The only thing more satisfying would be a boycott by those who advertise in this rag, along with mass cancellations of subscriptions by Journal readers. A bankrupt newspaper forced to close down it offices would thus have no need for armed guards.

Problem solved.
