Mapping Our Descent Into the Third World

Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words. Here is a map that shows the ongoing efforts of the Obama administration to nationalize a border crisis of its own making. It also reveals the shameless duplicity of a mainstream media doing their absolute utmost to make the town of Murrieta, CA appear like Ground Zero in the fight against government-instigated extortion. And no matter home many times I have to repeat it, I will remind my fellow Americans it is nothing other than extortion, and it boils down to one simple idea: you either accept de facto amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens currently residing in the United States, or the Obama administration and its allies will do everything they can to exponentially exacerbate the problem.

Let’s begin with Murrieta and why it makes such a convenient media punching bag. The town of 105,000 residents became the national symbol of resistance to the federal government’s effort to disperse illegals within American communities when its residents turned away Homeland Security buses carrying illegal aliens on July 1, and have continued to do so. Pro-illegal immigration forces organized protests of their own, and the resulting standoff has resulted in six arrests so far, as as well a convenient amount of heat and light for the media.

But there is more to it than that. Murrieta also has a reputation for being part of “Reagan Country” and having ignited the so-called Reagan revolution in 1978. Thus for our overwhelmingly leftist and pro-illegal immigration media that considers any resistance to comprehensive immigration reform some combination of  "nativist,“ "bigoted,” “xenophobic,” and “callous,” Murrieta represents a “two-fer:” it is not just conservatives who are reprehensible, but Reagan conservatives.

That’s a big reason why Murrieta remains in the eye of the storm while Baltimore, MD, where two Democratic Sens. Barbara A. Mikulski and Ben Cardin led the charge to prevent the feds from converting a vacant office building into a shelter for illegals, remains below the radar. The same sotto voce treatment was afforded to the Democrat stronghold of Chicago, where the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) dropped plans to house illegals in a former monastery in Olympia Fields.

And most Americans have never heard a word about Lawrenceville, VA either. That’s a town where black Americans who gave Obama 95 percent and 93 percent of their vote in 2008 and 2012, respectively, comprise 76.2 percent of the residents. Residents who also vehemently opposed the administration’s effort to turn historically black St. Paul’s college, closed last year after losing accreditation, into another “temporary” shelter for illegal alien children. “Please take your UACs and relocate them to D.C., where you can keep a very close eye on their welfare and keep them out of our backyard,” said John Zubrod, who was one of the 1,000 residents who showed up at Brunswick High School to confront HHS officials.

Mr. Zubrod is onto something. There are numerous enclaves across the nation that embrace progressive-inspired amnesty. Moreover they double-down with “sanctuary city” policies that prevent law enforcement officers from inquiring about a person’s immigration status, even if a felony has been committed, in some cases. Why shouldn’t such sanctuary cities – which have never engendered a single lawsuit by the same Department of Justice that sued Arizona to prevent illegals from being identified – be at the top of the list when it comes to accommodating the stream of “refugees” engendered by the illegal immigration they champion? As luck would have it, here is an actual list of those cities.

Isn’t it time they walked the walk of their oh-so-enlightened talk? How about it, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.? Surely those who see American exceptionalism, national sovereignty and the rule of law as jingoistic, anachronistic and an impediment to their “by any means necessary” agenda are more than ready to embrace the Obama administration’s determination to fundamentally transform the United States of America, aren’t they?

Of course not. Progressives invariably embrace “enlightened solutions” only when they remain largely abstract, funded by taxpayers – and occur “somewhere else.” Historian and long-time California resident Victor Davis Hanson nails the hypocrisy:

“Go to Palo Alto or Mountain View and then contrast it with Redwood City: Metrosexuals and Pajama Boy techies make a great deal of money in the former, while their low-paid gardeners and nannies crowd into the latter. And never the twain seems to meet, if at all possible. If Silicon Valley’s billionaires were to build mansions in Redwood City and plan to put their children in the public schools there, they might be a bit more credible in their loud denunciations of all those who are not persuaded by their multi-million-dollar advocacy of illegal immigration.”

But they won’t intermingle with the “great unwashed,” any more than they would step up and alleviate Murrieta of a reality that may take a far more serious turn once the holiday weekend is over. Some time this week, Americans will likely learn if the same federal government that retreated from its efforts to set up illegal alien facilities in some communities will begin forcibly imposing processing centers on others. A July 3 press release by the border patrol portends an ominous future. “Due to security considerations, we are not providing any further information regarding the schedule or location of migrant transfers at this time,” it stated.

[UPDATE] We didn’t even have to wait that long. Shortly after I wrote the above paragraph, Breitbart Texas announced that federal agents will be showing up in Murrieta with riot gear. Two residents from neighboring towns told the news website what to expect next:

Jeremy Oliver, a resident of Temecula, California–a town that neighbors Murrieta–told Breitbart Texas that local police officers warned the protesters that “it’s going to get ugly.”

Oliver said, “The feds are pissed that they haven’t been able to use this facility. Officers out there warned people that federal agents will be in Murrieta on Monday–they are going to get the next bus through no matter what. Riot gear and shields will be used to push the crowd back.”

John Henry, a Murrieta resident since 1991, was told the same thing by local officers.

“We're being told that federal Marshals or ICE will be here in the next few days and that they are bringing riot gear,” Henry said. “They’re apparently going to be blocking off the street with concrete blockades so that no vehicles can get through. The River County Sheriff's Department showed up last night and brought a huge watch tower that shoots up into the air 35 feet.”

The weekend is when we also learned the invasion is far broader in scope than initially reported. In an article that bashes Murrieta, which the New York Times insists “has not been as transformed by immigration as many other communities in Southern California have,” the paper also reveals that “federal officials have begun to send the expected 240,000 migrants and 52,000 unaccompanied minors who have crossed the border illegally in recent months in the Rio Grande Valley to cities around the county.”

Note the word expected.

Thus, nearly 300,000 illegal aliens are simply being dispersed by the same administration that insists it is sending a clear message to Central American nations that the illegals will not be allowed to stay in the country. Really? Here’s all you need to know: our so-called Commander-in-Chief, who could stop this invasion dead in its tracks, is instead seeking more than $2 billion from Congress to reinforce the border and streamline the deportation process–even as he has threatened to bypass Congress and pursue unilateral changes to the country’s immigration system.

What unilateral changes? The ever-reliable New York Times urges him to “go big” and expand his already Constitutionally-suspect Dreamers program to include their families as well as the families of citizen children, even as he should prioritize giving the current influx of illegals “lawyers and caregivers.” “Republicans will howl over Mr. Obama’s solo actions,” the paper warns. “Let them. Let the party pay a heavy price among Latino and Asian voters for failing to tame its nativist wing, whose only idea for immigration is a fantasy of an airtight border and mass expulsions.”

In other words, as far as progressives are concerned, national sovereignty and the rule of law that illuminates the critical difference between legal immigrants and illegal aliens, is reduced to nativist fantasy. And yet again, the Times focuses on Murrieta, characterizing protests resisting the federal government’s attempt to impose its agenda on that town as a “pageant of ugliness” – because residents had the unmitigated gall to protest, while waving American flags and shouting “USA!”

You know what genuine fantasy is? Calling millions of Americans nativist for resisting a progressive agenda that abides wholesale law-breaking as a vehicle for advancing it. Failing to mention that a Democrat party in total control of Congress and the White House for two years, including at one point a 60-seat filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, avoided comprehensive immigration reform like the plague. Telling the American public that a majority of us support de facto amnesty, when every poll that shows support for it is underscored by a host of pre-conditions without which it is utterly rejected. Pre-conditions that more and more Americans have begun to realize will never be honored by an Obama administration with an unprecedented contempt for the rule of law.

The latest data released by ICE in response to a Freedom of Information request reveal the truth: the number of immigrants under 18 who were deported or turned away at ports of entry fell from 8,143 in 2008, the last year of the  Bush administration, to 1,669 in 2013. And the 600 minors on average deported from non-border states over the last decade fell to 95 last year.

This government-manufactured crisis, aided and abetted by cultural elites and radical leftist open-border advocates, is rapidly rising to an existential level. Either we remain a nation where the rule of law is the ultimate arbiter of our destiny, or we continue our descent into Third World-ism championed by a progressive ideology that views that descent as a justifiable comeuppance for a nation that dared to raise itself above the rest. Progressives who would impose their will on towns like Murrieta, CA, even as the Palo Altos and Mountain Views of the nation – along with tony neighborhoods in countless sanctuary cities – remain calculatingly immune from the consequences of such self-aggrandizing garbage.

Such overt hypocrisy needs to be recognized for what it truly is: cultural apartheid. An effort to squeeze the middle class out of existence by bringing in low-skill, low-educated workers to complete for the increasingly scarce jobs on the bottom end of the economic spectrum, and H-1B visa-enabled tech workers to compete for jobs on the higher end, courtesy of another overt lie that claims we suffer from a lack of such workers. In short, those who would turn this nation into another basket case of economic polarization ruled by a self-perpetuating cultural elite, are all in.

Thus in November, it is absolutely incumbent on the American electorate to throw them all out.
