A Trio of Progressive Depradations

Sometimes a week goes by where the depredations of progressive ideology is so blatant it is impossible to focus on one story. Last week was one such week. Here’s a trio of tales that once again illuminate the utter bankruptcy of the American left.

Let’s begin with the Iranian deal, or more accurately, the worst diplomatic giveaway in U.S. history. National security advisor Ben Rhodes is the poster boy for the Obama administration’s utter contempt for the truth. Despite two previous TV interviews where he insisted Iranian facilities would be subjected to “anytime, anywhere” inspections, Rhodes offered up this Orwellian, down the memory hole denial last week. “We never sought in this negotiation the capacity for so-called anytime, anywhere where you could basically go anywhere in the country, look at whatever you wanted to do, even if it had nothing to do with the nuclear program,” he declared.

Even if it does have to do with the nuclear program, the process agreed to is farcical. Iran can deny International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors access to any undeclared site. If they do, a process that involves a committee comprised of the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China, the European Union — and Iran — can be stretched out as long as 24 days, even if an inspector’s request is validated. “They can’t hide the evidence of (a violation) in any meaningful way in that kind of period of time,” insists National Security Adviser Susan Rice.

Really? Here’s a timeline of North Korea’s steady march to nukes, despite the Agreed Framework of 1994 negotiated by Bill Clinton. Note the ultimate impotence of the IAEA. And despite the ultimate outcome, see if if this sounds familiar. “This is a good deal for the United States,” Clinton insisted at the time. “North Korea will freeze and then dismantle its nuclear program. South Korea and our other allies will be better protected. The entire world will be safer as we slow the spread of nuclear weapons.”

Furthermore, what Rice isn’t saying is that even if a clear-cut violation is presented to the committee, getting them to acknowledge it might be a tad problematic — considering both Russia and China will continue selling arms to Iran under the “watchful” eyes of U.N. inspectors.

But wait, this deal gets even worse. American nuclear experts will be banned from inspections. Moreover, European nations, and the U.S. have agreed to “cooperate with Iran on the implementation of nuclear security guidelines and best practices,” and to “strengthen Iran’s ability to protect against, and respond to nuclear security threats, including sabotage, as well as to enable effective and sustainable nuclear security and physical protection systems,” the text of the agreement states. In case one misses the subtext, this is a not-so-subtle effort designed to undercut Israel’s ability to defend itself. A Western source apprised of the deal spelled out the insanity. “The United States and its partners have just become the international protectors of the Iranian nuclear program,” the source explained. “Instead of rolling back the Iranian nuclear program, we’re now legally obligated to help the Iranians build it up and protect it.”

Why stop there? The deal also frees up $150 billion in previously frozen assets, giving the world’s foremost sponsor of state terror the ability to ramp up its conventional weapons and terror program as well. “It is real, it is possible, and, in fact, we should expect that some portion of that money would go to the Iranian military and could potentially be used for the kinds of bad behavior that we have seen in the region up until now,” said Rice.

Ya think?

Rice then doubled-down on the Obama administration’s fecklessness, telling Wolf Blitzer the deal “was never, and was not designed to prevent them from engaging in bad behavior in region,” she claimed. “They’re doing that today. The goal is to ensure that they don’t have a nuclear weapon, and therefore, when they are engaging in that bad behavior, are that much more dangerous.” In other words, these dolts can’t imagine a scenario where Iran’s continued de-stabilization of the Middle East precipitates an overall nuclear arms race that exponentially increases the danger in the worlds most unstable region.

Congress to the rescue? Not a chance. By the time you read this, Obama will have made a mockery of national sovereignty, presenting the deal to the U.N. Security Council for certain approval it got on Monday, prior to any input from Congress. Thus ten years of sanctions arduously negotiated will be eliminated, never to be re-imposed. What about notion that sanctions can be “snapped back” at any time? As truthful as “anytime anywhere” inspections. Furthermore, since clueless Republicans hashed out a deal flipping the Constitutional requirement that treaties can only be approved by a two-thirds concurrence of the Senate on its head, and made this deal subject to a two-thirds vote for disapproval, bet your life Democrats will orchestrate just enough resistance to sustain an Obama veto. Democrats with substantial Jewish populations in their districts will be allowed to vote no, while just enough of these surrender weasels will make sure it’s a done deal.

The era of good feelings? “We will never stop supporting our friends in the region and the people of Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Bahrain and Lebanon. Even after this deal our policy towards the arrogant U.S. will not change,” said Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday.

Last week was when we also learned about the chilling indifference for human life that attends Planned Parenthood (PP), an organization so twisted it has perfected an abortion technique that preserves certain fetal organs for harvesting. “So then you’re just kind of cognizant of where you put your graspers, you try to intentionally go above and below the thorax, so that, you know, we’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m going to basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact,” explained PP director of medical services Dr. Deborah Nucatola over a meal of salad and wine.

An anti-abortion group called the Center for Medical Progress recorded the secret video during which they posed as buyers from a medical research company. And the best PP came up with in its defense was an apology for the “tone and statements” of Nucatola, even as they derided the “smear attack” against their organization. Moreover while PP insists selling these organs is legal, they haven’t addressed whether their doctors may be tailoring the timing and method of abortions to get those organs, also illegal under federal law.

Unsurprisingly, several Democrats defended PP, with Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman characterizing the sting as “right-wing pornography.” The mainstream media circled the abortion-on-demand wagons as well. LA Times columnist Robin Abcarian insisted there’s “no end to the creative deviousness of people looking to harm Planned Parenthood, America’s most important reproductive healthcare provider.” That so-called healthcare provider that has performed 988,783 abortions in the last three years, making it the largest abortion provider in the nation. Yet perhaps the most unintentionally revealing defense was the one concocted by the Washington Post’s Jo-Ann Armao who chose to defend Nucatola directly, insisting that there “is no reading of that story that can suggest this is a woman callous about the people she cares for.”

Guess that would depend on how one defines “people,” right, Jo-Ann?

In addition to its $320.1 million in clinic income, 52 percent of which is derived from abortion, and $223.8 million in private donations, PP gets a whopping $487.4 million dollars a year from taxpayers. Congressional investigations, as well as others in various states, are forthcoming. In the meantime, “Planned Parenthood is still receiving $50, $75, sometimes $100 per specimen per fetal part. So all of that is just straight up profit that goes to their bottom line,” Center for Medical Progress founder David Daleiden told CBS News.

PP disputes that assessment, but here’s the screen capture of a tissue order form used by Stem Express, a multi-million dollar company that approached PP to find out if it can function as the group’s middleman in the sale of fetal tissue. Stem Express insists it complies with all laws and hopes “the events of the last few days will not diminish our efforts to support the research community or hinder our partners from continuing their important work.”

The bet here is that nothing will hinder their work in a culture where “clumps of cells” are readily disposable, and anything resembling moral decency has been tossed on the ash heap of history. But much like a scandal-ridden ACORN was defunded by Congress, it’s long past time PP pursued its Mengele-like endeavors on its own dime.

One final story condensed for space consideration. Here are five names that will never be branded into the national psyche: Thomas Sullivan, Carson Holmquist, Skip Wells, David Wyatt and Randall Smith. They are the five military personnel who were killed in last week’s terrorist attack — again terrorist attack — perpetrated by an Islamist mutt named Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez. That’s because the mainstream media, led by the despicable Andrea Mitchell, who tried to turn Abdulazeez into a gun-loving redneck, will move on as soon as it is feasibly possible. And they will do so for the same reason Kate Steinle is already down the memory hole for every non-conservative news source: nothing accrues to Obama’s benefit here.

Furthermore, the last thing this administration wants is for Americans to learn that we’re allowing 100,000 Muslims to emigrate to the U.S. on an annual basis, even as FBI Director James Comey said that his agency is already incapable of managing the domestic threat posed by ISIS wannabes. Make no mistake: our president has decided that fighting ISIS over here is better than fighting ISIS in the Middle East — even as its ability to flourish in that region is the ultimate siren song for recruitment right here. Expect more so-called “lone wolf” murders. This despicable calculation virtually assures it.
