Arrogant liberal journalists naturally assume that conservative talk radio only succeeds in making Americans dumber. They reach this conclusion by avoiding conservative talk radio entirely.

The overwhelming majority would never dare appear on one of these shows and debate the conservative host.

If one of them ever entered the ring with Mark Levin, they’d invoke the “mercy rule” before the first commercial break.

In recent years, Levin has matched a brainy talk show with a series of brilliant political books. The latest is called “Plunder and Deceit: Big Government’s Exploitation of Young People and the Future.” It’s a good bet that no liberal journalist will read it, no liberal newspaper will review it, and that no liberal network would imagine calling up Levin for an interview. They are too busy advocating tolerance and diversity.

Levin argues that the current ruling generation of statists — elected in part by millennial voters — are unraveling American civil society by undermining the country’s moral foundation and her economic footing. The central question of our time may be whether today’s young people still desire the founding vision of America with its constitutional limits on government, assisted by moral self-discipline, or whether we face a terminal moral and economic decline.

The book begins with a discussion about the massive growth in the national debt and our entitlement programs, and then tackles education, immigration, the minimum wage and national security.

The chapter on the environment provides a look at the statist ideologies that the liberal media downplay so deliberately, especially when their radical underbelly is exposed, and ignore completely when their theories are proven false. Levin notes that in July 2014, more than a hundred radical green groups signed an anti-capitalist document called the Margarita Declaration. “The climate crisis is the result of unsustainable development systems, incompatible with the happiness of the people. … The structural causes of climate change are linked to the current capitalist hegemonic system. Fighting the climate change involves changing the system.”

Did anyone hear about that on the news?

The left pushes against economic freedom with dire prognostications of planetary doom. Levin cites Dr. Mark Perry, an economics professor at University of Michigan and a scholar for the American Enterprise Institute, who made a list of 18 “spectacularly wrong apocalyptic predictions” made by eco-leftists around the first Earth Day.

Did you hear about that?

In January 1970, Life magazine reported, “Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support … the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution … by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half.”

The king of spectacularly wrong predictions was Paul Ehrlich, the author of “The Population Bomb,” who wrote in the Earth Day issue of The Progressive magazine that between 1980 and 1989, some 4 billion people, including 65 million Americans, would perish in the “Great Die-Off.” Unfazed, in 1989 NBC’s “Today” appointed Ehrlich their “reporter” for a special series unspooling more doom. This time Ehrlich predicted that soon we’d be tying our boats to the Washington Monument after massive flooding.

Our media are never embarrassed by these spectacularly failed predictions. Levin could write an entire book on this alone. To promote the leftist agenda, they ignore them and create an entirely new set of dire predictions.

Let us never forget The Washington Post’s definition of conservatives — the “poor, uneducated, and easy-to-command” types. That condescending statement was made 22 years ago. Nothing’s changed.

And they’d never dare debate Mark Levin.
