The story of Texas ninth-grader Ahmed Mohamed, made famous by his homemade “clock” that resembled a suitcase bomb, has taken a curious turn. His father, Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed has parlayed accusations of Islamophobia with regard to the school’s caution into a political attack against the United States for its complicity in the 9/11 atrocity–in all its “Truther” glory.

This is Mohamed’s second foray into one of the radical left’s favorite fever swamps. Last month, one day after the fourteenth commemoration of 9/11, Mohammed posted a Sept. 12 Facebook photo of the burning towers, using his Sudanese National Reform Party page. The page, which has since been taken down, asserted that 9/11 was an inside job. Here is a translation of a statement included with the photo written by Asad al-Barari:

The Events of September 11th:

There is a saying, “The hater writes them; the fool publishes them; and the idiot believes them.” This applies to the rumors that people both spread and believe; it describes the creation of rumors in all their stages.

Yesterday [Friday, September 11, 2015] was the anniversary observed in the United States of America on what is called “September 11th.” This was the miracle that came to America in the form of terrorism — which offered her the invasion of Islamic countries (headed by Afghanistan and Iraq), which she saw as a great threat — on a golden plate. The first had an Islamic government, while the second was a mighty Arab state in the Middle East.

Without any doubt, the events of September 11th claimed thousands of innocent lives, and violated the basic belief of religions, that civilians should not be harmed in any war. Yet, for its sake, millions of blameless souls have perished — though one state has been spared. One state that exists only on the map.

The events of the Arab Spring, or the despicable chaos that is its true name, were a part of this “September [11th] Strategy,” that the U.S. pursued in sending her armies into Afghanistan and Iraq. The American army destroyed their regular armies, but found that it could not destroy their irregular forces. This is what drove her to foment that reprehensible chaos — an ancient plan to destroy states completely — which was carried out to the letter in all the lands of the Arab Spring. The result was not only thousands of refugees and deaths in every part of the world, but also the huge humiliations that have become the fundamental malaise of the Arabs in everything they do.

Thus [the events of September 11th] are but an American media creation, no matter how some may try to label them as"Islamic terrorism.“ They were indeed terrorism, but terrorism American style — terrorism that sweeps away and annihilates whole countries, and not those few buildings in the midst of New York City.

That screed was followed by another posting on Mohamed’s National Reform Party Facebook page Sept. 28 that contained a 15 minute, English language video containing a raft of Truther allegations including the now-familiar assertions that the "10 seconds” it took for the remaining tower to collapse demonstrates 9/11 was an “inside job,” with the video’s original poster insisting the attack is “all a lie.” Moreover the collapse of Trade Towers’ Building 7 is “suspicious” because it was never hit by a jet, but its collapse nonetheless mimics the demolitions of a building “brought down by explosives.”

That footage is followed by a shot of a Manhattan street covered in debris and an image of George W. Bush. “There is a tremendous amount of evidence that the government was involved in the September 11 attack,” the video asserts, adding that while proof of a conspiracy is “speculation,” the rest is “scientific fact.” It further insists an American mainstream media controlled by a “small group of people” replete with Western journalists intent on “manipulating emotions,” demonstrated by broadcasted photos of Osama bin Laden, “creates anger towards Arabs and fools people into thinking the Arabs are responsible for the attack.”

That Facebook page has also been taken down.

Before it was, Breitbart News captured what appears to be an Arabic language National Reform post written by Mohamed himself. Breitbart got Raymond Stock, Middle Eastern political and cultural affairs expert, and former Guggenheim Fellow with a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from the University of Pennsylvania to translate the page. Stock revealed that the same Truther “inside job” nonsense had been reiterated, stating “the war against terror is nothing more than an illusion made in America—as al-Qa`ida was made in America, as well as what is happening now in the Arab East at the hands of the West.” The post further stated the “events of September 11th were planned precisely to launch the war on Iraq, and 50% of the American people are becoming aware of that.”

Mohamed then adds his son to the mix, claiming Ahmed was a victim of Islamophobia rather than Zero Tolerance policies that have precipitated a number of dubious student suspensions. “Moreover, what happened to Ahmed Mohammed would not have occurred were he not Muslim and Sudanese,” the translation reads, with Mohammed further insisting the incident “shocked the West, and made Obama seek to honor him, rather than his terrorizing his fellow students.”

Another part of the post charges the “state-controlled” American media with engendering an attitude of “fear” towards Muslims “that has no relation to reality.” Mohamed believes that fear campaign will lead to the growth of Islam in America:

American society has come to live in fear of all that is Muslim or black due to the state-controlled media. And I would add:

It is a fear that will turn into confidence in all that is Muslim, because what the American media present is nothing more than a lie that has no relation to reality.

This will lead to the spread of Islam.

The post also links to an article by Arjun Walia at the Collective Evolution website. Walia contends people have been “conditioned” to believe terrorism “threatens us,” and that Western nations are fighting the good fight against those “who have supposedly committed a number of atrocities on Western soil. This couldn’t be further from the truth,” he insists. He further states “it’s a well documented fact that Al-Qaeda was a creation of the CIA — there are multiple sources which show that — and it seems that ISIS might not be any different,” adding there is “no proof” Middle Easterners pose a threat to our safety. Rather, it is “corporately owned media groups that have been consolidated in the hands of a few, like CNN that are responsible” for what he describes as a “false flag terrorism "run by covert operations designed to deceive and manipulate in such a way as to appear as though they had been carried out by groups, nations, or entities other than those who actually planned and executed them.”

9/11 is one such example.

This week, Mohamed joined his son and the rest of the family in Saudi Arabia, the latest stop on a tour that began in Qatar when an invitation to visit that nation was extended by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. Their sister institution, the Qatar Foundation International (QFI), has links to the Muslim Brotherhood (MB).

The Saudis picked up the next leg of the trip, sponsoring a family pilgrimage to Mecca that included Ahmed’s uncle Moussa Al-Hassan. According to the Arab News, al-Hassan kept the theme alive insisting the “ordinary American citizen lives in a state of fear of Arabs because of the American media’s portrayal of him as an extremist terrorist.” Ahmed himself played the game as well. “It was really sad that she took the wrong impression of (my clock) and I got arrested,” he told reporters.

Ahmed also filmed a “come meet the clockmaker” video for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) for their 21st “Champions for Justice” Anniversary banquet held in Arlington, VA on Oct. 17. That would be the very same CAIR that launched an Islamophobia.org website in 2014 in an effort “to monitor and challenge the growing anti-Muslim bigotry in American society” — even though the organization itself remains an unindicted co-conspirator in the Texas Holy Land Foundation trial where several people were convicted of providing material support to the U.S. designated terror organization Hamas.

While in Saudi Arabia, it might be useful for a family seemingly attuned to the injustices of religious intolerance, to explore the policies and traditions of what is arguably the most religiously intolerant nation on earth. Government policy in Saudi Arabia prohibits the building of churches. Yet at the same time it not only promotes the most virulently intolerant version of Islam known as Wahhabism domestically, it spends billions to export it all over the world. Its most recent effort in that regard was an offer to build two hundred mosques in Germany, a country inundated with Muslim “refugees” the Saudis themselves want no part of, despite having 100,000 air-conditioned tents capable of housing up to three million people.

As for traditions, there aren’t many nations that would grant Ahmed’s sister, Eyman, also suspended from middle school in the same district in 2009, less rights and privileges than the nation where a women who reported she was gang-raped was sentenced to receive more lashes than her alleged rapists, because she was not accompanied by a male escort when the crime occurred.

Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed and his entire family are free to take any political positions they choose. Yet what began as something that might be construed as a reasonable response to a school district’s zero tolerance over-zealousness, has deteriorated into something best described as an Islamophobia awareness tour, all the requisite amount of America-bashing included. It remains to be seen if an equally tone-deaf President Obama will further promote that agenda when Ahmed and company meet with the president on White House Astronomy Night next Monday.
