There are disturbing reports in a leading Capitol Hill newspaper that the Obama administration is, once again, looking for ways to circumvent Congress and ignore the courts.

Using his pen and his phone, Obama is hoping to enact a radical climate change agreement through executive regulation, just like he did with the Iranian nuclear deal.

In addition, leaked memos from the Department of Homeland Security indicate that the administration is preparing to ignore court orders that have so far frozen his executive amnesty efforts.

Whether it’s ignoring the Defense of Marriage Act, refusing to enforce our immigration laws or abuse of the IRS, the left’s disrespect for the law seemingly knows no limits. And because the left-wing media gives him a free pass, Obama now feels so emboldened that he is willing to ignore the courts!

Just imagine if a conservative administration refused to enforce laws banning prayer in school, used the IRS to target political enemies and used executive power to shut down abortion facilities. Enterprising journalists would be investigating every agency. There would be outraged editorials every day blasting the administration’s abuse of power.

Left-wing politicians all over the country are learning from Obama’s example. Members of Congress cannot permit these kinds of executive abuses to go unanswered. The checks and balances of our constitutional republic must be respected.

If they are not, then our elected representatives in Congress are superfluous and the president rules by himself. That is not the vision our Founding Fathers had for America. And that is not the kind of government we want to leave to our children and grandchildren.

The Left’s Radical Agenda

If you thought Common Core represented radical educational policy, you will be doubly outraged by how the Department of Education is pushing the boundaries on radical social policy.

[Monday], federal education bureaucrats here in Washington informed an Illinois school district that it had violated the rights of a transgendered student. The person in question is biologically male, but mentally perceives himself as a girl and has demanded the right to use all the female facilities at his high school.

The school district did everything it could to reasonably accommodate these demands, but drew the line at the girls’ locker rooms and showers. For the Obama administration, that was not good enough. It has given the school district 30 days to surrender or lose federal funding.

Let me repeat that: The bureaucrats in Washington, D.C., are threatening to harm all the students in a school system unless the school district caves in to the extreme demands of one “transgendered” student.

I’m curious: How many parents would vote to let boys use the girls’ bathrooms or showers?

As one Illinois official recently explained, “The students in our schools are teenagers, not adults… Boys and girls are in separate locker rooms — where there are open changing areas and open shower facilities — for a reason.”

Our D.C. overlords evidently don’t care about the privacy rights of the other female students. At this point, parents should be reaching for their proverbial pitchforks and torches.

I am dumbfounded by the passive response of many congressional leaders. This bureaucratic overreach in service to a radical social policy is outrageous!

If there was ever a cause that justified the decentralization of power, of reining in rogue government, this is it!

Soros Says…

Billionaire George Soros, funder of multiple left-wing causes, has admitted that the borders of Europe are an “obstacle” to be overcome. Soros fully supports the mass migration of so-called “refugees” into Europe, the vast majority of whom (in spite of media images) are young Muslim men, not women and children.

Soros’ main outlet for dispensing his largesse is called the “Open Society.” Perhaps he should rename it the “Open Borders Society.”

Stand With Israel

The United States and Israel are twin pillars of Western Civilization. We have common values and a common enemy. Israel is at the tip of the spear in the war against militant Islam. For these reasons and more, Israel and America are natural allies.

Yet the Obama administration seems confused between friend and foe — constantly criticizing Israel while reaching out to Iran. A top priority of the next president should be to repair the alliance with Israel. Read more in my latest opinion piece in The Washington Times.
