Indiana Results: Republicans Have A Nominee

In Indiana, Donald Trump continued smashing his opponents, taking 53% of the vote, while Texas Senator Ted Cruz received 37%. Ohio Governor John Kasich won just 8%. Within moments of the polls closing, the networks called the state for Trump, and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus tweeted that Donald Trump was the presumptive nominee. Indiana’s results convinced Texas Senator Ted Cruz to suspend his campaign last night. And this morning, Ohio Governor John Kasich suspended his campaign too.

Indiana Results: Democrat Fight Goes On

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders scored a surprising upset win [Tuesday] night in Indiana’s Democrat primary. Prior to [Tuesday’s] vote, Clinton was leading in the polls by an average of seven points. But [Tuesday] night Sanders won 53% to 48%.

Speaking at his victory rally, Senator Sanders said, “I understand Secretary Clinton thinks this race is over. I’ve got some bad news for her.” He then vowed to fight on in West Virginia, Kentucky and other states and then take his fight to the convention floor.

Sanders’ victory, however, didn’t do much to change the dynamics of the Democrat contest. Clinton is far ahead of Sanders in the delegate count — 2,202 to 1,400.

Clinton has 92% of the delegates needed to win her party’s nomination. As one pundit said, she could lose every remaining contest by 20 points and still get the delegates needed to secure the nomination.

It is worth pointing out that the count among delegates actually won in the primaries is much closer — 1,682 for Clinton to 1,361 for Sanders. Hillary’s big lead comes from 520 so-called “superdelegates.”

Unless something happens to change their minds between now and the Democratic National Convention in July, Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee this November.

Holocaust Remembrance Day

[Yesterday was] Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel. It is called “Yom Hashoah Ve Hagevurah” — Day of the Holocaust and the Heroism. It is a day of reflection on the unthinkable, remembering that Adolf Hitler and his allies murdered six million Jews, one-third of the world’s Jewish population.

After such horrors, it is hard to imagine that such evil could ever occur again. But today the lessons of the Holocaust are fading. Writing in the Boston Globe, columnist Jeff Jacoby notes this disturbing fact: “In 2013, a survey of more than 53,000 respondents in 101 countries found that only 54 percent of the world’s adults had even heard of the Holocaust — and of those, one-third believe it is either a myth or has been greatly exaggerated.”

Far worse, Iran, ISIS and other adherents of radical Islam are promising a second Holocaust — threatening to wipe Israel off the map. The ancient evil of anti-Semitism is growing. The political left in Europe is infected with Jew-hatred.

There is good news. Today millions of Christians are standing with the Jewish people. Together, we will defend Judeo-Christian civilization and fight persecution whatever its source. NEVER AGAIN!

National Day Of Prayer

[Today] is the 65th annual National Day of Prayer. This year’s theme is “Wake Up America,” based on the verse in Isaiah 58:1: “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.”

From the breakdown of the family to the state of race relations in America and the fight against radical Islam, there is certainly plenty to pray about.

Please join Carol and me in praying for our country and our values. There will be events taking place in Washington and across the country [today]. Click here to learn more.
