The Patriot Post® · Big Media Moves On
Most fair observers agree that last week was a good week for Donald Trump, featuring major policy speeches with unifying themes and repeated appeals to minority voters. As we noted Friday, the polls were already starting to show some movement in Trump’s favor. The Los Angeles Times daily tracking poll had Clinton leading Trump by two points last week. Now he’s ahead. We’ll have to see whether additional polling confirms this momentum.
Yet in the middle of all this, The Washington Post decides to move on from the election. Convinced that Clinton is cruising to victory, the Post is looking forward to the opening days of President Hillary’s administration. Over the weekend, the paper ran a report headlined: “With A Comfortable Lead, Clinton Begins Laying Plans For Her White House Agenda.”
That is a clear example of big media repeating the main Clinton narrative — that the election is over. Forget the debates. Forget the remaining 78 days of campaigning. Ignore the email server and the Clinton Foundation scandals. The Washington Post has called the race and it’s time for the rest of us to move on and get on board with the left’s agenda.
I promise you, my friends, that’s not happening here. We will keep fighting, with your continued support, from now until November 8th to make sure Hillary Clinton never steps foot in the Oval Office again!
Get Your Checks In Now
Speaking of the Clinton Foundation, it was announced late last week that if Hillary wins, the Clinton Foundation will no longer accept foreign money. But why was the foundation accepting foreign money in the first place? I discussed this issue on Fox Business last week. If you missed my interview, you can watch it here.
But here’s the more important point: What the Clinton Foundation did in making that announcement was to essentially broadcast to anyone interested, “Get your bribes in now! The window of opportunity is closing.”
They are conceding that it is not ethically appropriate for a foundation, led by a former president and a top government official, to accept money from industries with business pending before the government. So with just 81 days remaining, they publicly told anyone hoping to take advantage of the influence game that now was the time to get their money in so they could get on the list for future favors.
Clinton Blames Powell
Desperate to deflect attention from her growing email scandal, Hillary Clinton attempted to blame former Secretary of State Colin Powell for the fact that she put our national security secrets in jeopardy. It was revealed late last week that in her interview with the FBI, Clinton told agents that Powell had recommended using a private email address.
According to CNN, former Secretary of State Madeline Albright organized a dinner of former secretaries of state in 2009. Over dessert, Albright reportedly asked them “to offer one salient bit of counsel” to Mrs. Clinton. Powell’s recommendation: Use her own email address, as he had done.
Now, here’s some context.
To begin with, Secretary Powell says he has no recollection of the dinner. He did, however, send Hillary a memo describing his use of a personal email account. But to suggest that Hillary did exactly what Powell did is beyond misleading.
When Colin Powell became secretary of state, the department had an extremely limited internal email system. That deficiency was corrected in 2005, long before Hillary Clinton became secretary of state.
Moreover, Powell did not use his personal email account to handle classified messages. He strictly used the secured State Department network for such exchanges. He never had a private server that he exclusively used for all his communications. Nor did he delete tens of thousands of emails.
Asked about the controversy over the weekend, Powell replied, “Her people have been trying to pin it on me. The truth is, she was using [the private email server] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did.”
In other words, Hillary didn’t get the idea from Powell.
By the way, this scandal isn’t going away any time soon. We knew based on FBI Director James Comey’s public statements that the FBI had discovered some of Hillary’s missing emails. But check out this headline from The Hill: “FBI Uncovers 15K Undisclosed Emails In Clinton Probe.”
Hillary’s Huma Problem
Questions have been raised about Huma Abedin, one of Hillary Clinton’s most trusted aides, before. Her parents were closely linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. Now those connections are getting a second look.
For example, it was reported over the weekend by the New York Post that Huma — not her parents — for ten years worked for “a radical Muslim publication that opposed women’s rights and blamed the U.S. for 9/11.” Given Abedin’s close relationship to Clinton, and her influence on policy, this would seem to be fertile ground for investigative journalists.
Unfortunately, many in Washington don’t want to talk about it because they are afraid of being accused of “Islamophobia.”
