Late Friday, at the beginning of the Labor Day weekend, the FBI released some of the notes that agents took during their Fourth of July weekend interview with Hillary Clinton. Do you see the pattern here? Fourth of July… Labor Day… I can’t wait until Thanksgiving!

In recent weeks, lots of people in Washington have been quick to assure us that Director James Comey is an honorable man who would never let politics get in the way of the FBI doing its job. But a Friday night document dump on Labor Day weekend raises serious questions about whether politics has infected his office.

Hillary CAN Keep A Secret

Here are a few of the things we learned from the FBI’s notes:

Hillary Clinton used a total of 13 mobile devices. Some were destroyed with hammers by Clinton aides. Why would they do that? Clearly, because they understood the devices contained politically damaging information.

Emails on at least one device were reportedly deleted AFTER Congress had demanded the information be preserved. The destruction of information in the course of an investigation is itself a crime.

One laptop with a log of all of Hillary’s emails (a computer kept by the Clinton Foundation, by the way, and not the State Department — pay for play anyone?) incredibly got “lost” in the mail — a new spin on “the dog ate my homework.”

Hillary told FBI agents that she thought the “C” on her emails had something to do with identifying paragraphs of the email rather than “CLASSIFIED.” Was there a paragraph A or B?

Here’s the point: Hillary Clinton was not consistently irresponsible in keeping things secret. She was reckless in taking appropriate steps to prevent our national security secrets from falling into the hands of our enemies. But she was extraordinarily competent in keeping HER secrets away from the FBI, Congress and the American people.

When it comes to her own potentially incriminating emails, she approached every one of them as if they were stamped “TOP SECRET.” Nothing, including sledge hammers, was rejected as a possible solution to her dilemma.

Clinton’s Concussion

Conservative commentators have suggested that after a lifetime of lying, Hillary has become extraordinarily good at it. But in the past year, some odd lies were easily identified.

For example, Hillary claimed that FBI Director James Comey had said her statements were “truthful.” She lied about her lying! PolitiFact rated that whopper as “Pants On Fire.”

When questioned about that lie, Clinton said, “I may have short-circuited.” Indeed.

The FBI notes raise a serious question that Big Media continues to ignore: Did her concussion cause neurological damage? During her interview, on more than 40 occasions, Clinton told FBI agents that she could not recall or did not remember something.

At one point she actually blamed her memory loss on her concussion. It is possible that some of the things that appear to be lies are instead evidence of her continued “fog” from the severe head injury she suffered. That is the best possible spin you can put on it.

But whether it is habitual lies or neurological damage, either is a legitimate issue that raises serious questions about whether she can lead the country.

And Speaking Of Health…

After a significant absence from the campaign trail, Clinton addressed a Labor Day rally in Cleveland, Ohio. But just as she was beginning her remarks, she had a dramatic coughing fit. It went on for several minutes. You can watch it here.

Later in the day, she attempted to hold a press conference on her new campaign plane. But Fox News had to abandon its coverage after Clinton experienced yet another uncontrollable coughing fit.

One reporter from NBC did report on it and today he is being shamed by the Clinton campaign and his fellow “journalists.” I guess they see it as a violation of the loyalty oath reporters take to serve Hillary.

Trump Goes To Church

Over the holiday weekend, Donald Trump went to the Great Faith Ministries International Church and received an incredible reception. Trump was presented with a prayer shawl, which one network host called “a prayer rug.” Sorry, wrong religion.

Trump told parishioners that he was there to listen to them. He praised the black church, saying, “It’s from the pews and pulpits and Christian teachings of black churches all across this land that the civil rights movement lifted up its soul and lifted up the soul of our nation.” He called on church leaders to defend religious liberty and promised a new civil rights agenda for our time.

Later in the day, Trump toured a Detroit neighborhood with Dr. Ben Carson, and visited Dr. Carson’s childhood home.

The buzz around Washington is that the Democrat Party is panic-stricken over this event. A focus group of young black voters finds they just aren’t that into Hillary.

According to the exit polls, Mitt Romney won only 6% of the black vote in 2012. Can Trump do better? He is trying hard to appeal to minority voters and some polls suggest his efforts are yielding results.

By the way, there are reports that Reuters tried to cut off the live video feed when he was presented with the prayer shawl. A camera man was heard on an open mic saying, “I’m shooting this, I don’t care what they say. I’ll take a demotion for this… ”

Goodbye, Phyllis

Phyllis Schlafly, a dear friend of many years, passed away yesterday. It is always a risk to say someone is irreplaceable. But it is hard to imagine what the Republican Party would look like, and, more importantly, what America would look like without Phyllis Schlafly.

Phyllis burst onto the scene in 1964 with her book entitled, “A Choice, Not An Echo.” She wrote it to promote Barry Goldwater and, as the title implies, to ensure that voters had a real choice between the parties, not just an echo of the establishment elites. She would go on to write more than two dozen books and she became a champion of American conservatism.

Phyllis fought every four years to ensure that the Republican Party platform remained pro-life. I was honored to stand with her on many of those occasions. She led the successful campaign to defeat the Equal Rights Amendment and warned that the feminist movement would lead to all kinds of unintended consequences.

She was labeled an extremist by the media for warning that those consequences would include the blending of genders and the undermining of marriage. Recent headlines have only proven that Phyllis Schlafly was right all along.

Feminist leaders of her day like Betty Freidan and Gloria Steinem were treated by the media as if they were great celebrities, precisely because they mocked motherhood and marriage, and supported abortion on demand. Conversely, Phyllis Schlafly spoke for millions of American women when she defended marriage and motherhood as good and honorable institutions. And she was vilified for it.

Phyllis had the courage of her convictions. She stood up against the left. She fought the good fight, and she won time and time again. She was called the “Godmother of the conservative movement” and the “First Lady of American Conservatism.” Ronald Reagan lauded her leadership as “an example to all those who would struggle for an America that is prosperous and free.” All so true.

We already miss her, but I am sure Phyllis has already heard those glorious words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
