[Tuesday] night, President Trump tweeted, “Big day planned on NATIONAL SECURITY tomorrow. Among many other things, we will build the wall!” [Yesterday], he followed through with two executives orders.

The first authorizes the construction of a wall along the Mexican border. The second directs the federal government to terminate grants to sanctuary cities, a move the vast majority of Americans support.

Some have said that building a wall is impractical, if not impossible. Are we a superpower or not? Do we have the will to defend our borders or not?

The Saudis have a border wall. The Israelis have a great security fence. If the Chinese could build a great wall hundreds of years ago to defend their border, I think we can too.

In the days ahead, President Trump is also expected to sign additional executive orders calling for a system of “extreme vetting” for refugees and suspending visas from several nations known to be hotbeds of radical Islamic terrorism.

President Trump continues shaking up Washington. It is tremendously encouraging to see him acting so boldly!

Investigating Voter Fraud

In recent days, President Trump got the media talking about voter fraud. Of course, the liberal media largely parrot the talking points of the Left and completely dismiss the issue.

But now that he has the media’s attention, President Trump has called for a “major investigation” into voter fraud. And why wouldn’t he?

The Left is making a big deal about the popular vote. It routinely mocks concerns about the integrity of our elections and yet fights popular initiatives like voter ID laws. Meanwhile, it is up to its eyeballs in irregular activities. Remember ACORN?

Donald Trump is president. It is his Justice Department (or will be as soon as Sen. Jeff Sessions is confirmed). So I applaud this announcement. There are legitimate reasons to be concerned, and they have nothing to do with Russian hackers!

As The Heritage Foundation has noted, a 2014 study found that an “estimated 6.4 percent of noncitizens voted illegally in the 2008 presidential election.” In addition, a 2013 poll found that “13 percent of noncitizen respondents admitted they were registered to vote.” And left-wing states like California are enabling such illegal activity.

Another Big Announcement

[Yesterday], President Trump announced that he will name a Supreme Court nominee next Thursday, Feb. 2nd, to fill the vacant seat of Justice Antonin Scalia. This will be one of the most consequential decisions President Trump makes, and I thank God that it is President Trump making it, not President Hillary Clinton.

By the way, I know Sen. Mitch McConnell is unlikely to win a popularity contest among grassroots conservative activists. But we should acknowledge the tremendous favor he did for the conservative movement in keeping Scalia’s seat open for the new president and not allowing Barack Obama to cement a left-wing majority on the high court. Thank you, Sen. McConnell!

Having said that, the burden now rests with the Trump-Pence White House to get this right. Once again, Democrats are vowing to block any nominee who does not meet the liberal litmus tests of the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and Chuck Schumer.

President Trump produced a list of potential nominees during the campaign. There are many good names on the list. But as people delve into their backgrounds, various conservatives are raising questions about some of them.

One way for President Trump to hit a grand slam home run might be to continue doing things differently and nominate Utah Sen. Mike Lee. While Lee was not a Trump fan, he is solidly conservative and his Senate seat would be safe. Schumer and other liberal senators would likely oppose him due to his ideological views, but I think it would be very hard from them to smear Sen. Lee.

House Makes Hyde Permanent

For 40 years, Republicans and Democrats in Congress have been able to agree on one thing: Taxpayer dollars should not be used to fund abortions. This policy became known as the “Hyde Amendment,” named after the late pro-life leader Rep. Henry Hyde (R-IL).

It was an easy position for politicians to take because polls (here and here) have consistently found that large majorities of the American people do not want their hard-earned tax dollars used to destroy innocent unborn babies.

I am pleased to report that [Tuesday] night the House of Representatives voted to make the Hyde Amendment a permanent feature of federal law. The legislation also prohibits Obamacare from paying for abortions.

While the legislation passed the House, I was, nevertheless, deeply disturbed by the vote. Only three House Democrats supported the bill.

This should not have been a controversial or partisan issue. Sadly, Democrats have moved so far left in their pro-abortion extremism, they now insist that you should be forced to pay for abortions. But you won’t hear that from the “mainstream media.”

Other Headlines

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway is now receiving Secret Service protection, which someone in her role would normally not receive (although Valerie Jarrett did). Even though Conway is the first woman to successfully manage a presidential campaign, she gets no accolades for breaking that glass ceiling. Instead, she is the subject of left-wing hate and death threats.

Speaking of left-wing hate… Agent Kerry O'Grady may soon find herself unemployed. In violation of the Hatch Act, she endorsed Hillary Clinton for president and, referring to Donald Trump, she wrote, “I would take jail time over a bullet … for what I believe to be disaster to this country… Hatch Act be damned. I am with Her.” Because of left-wing hate, President Trump has already been the target of at least one known assassination attempt and several threats.

Kudos to James O'Keefe and Project Veritas. Their journalistic efforts exposed left-wing plots to disrupt the inauguration and authorities have arrested one of the radical leaders.

Speaking of the inauguration, while liberal journalists decried President Trump’s inaugural address as “dark” and “divisive,” a new poll finds that 65% of Americans liked Trump’s “America First” message.

Here’s a great tip: A group of group of West Texas cowboys walked into a Washington, DC, restaurant. (No, this isn’t a bad joke.) After their meal, they left a note for their waitress:

“We may come from different cultures, and we may disagree on certain issues, but if everyone would share their smile and kindness like your beautiful smile, our country will come together as one people, not race, not gender, just American. God bless.”

They also left a $450 tip!
