The Patriot Post® · 'Hacks' Hit Back

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One this weekend, President Trump slammed former intelligence chiefs John Brennan, James Clapper and James Comey as “political hacks.” The president also called Comey a “liar” and a “leaker.”

Sunday, the “hacks” hit back. Speaking on CNN, former CIA Director John Brennan said, “I think Mr. Trump is, for whatever reason, either intimidated by Mr. Putin or afraid of what he can do, or what might come out as a result of these investigations.”

Seriously? Brennan worked for a president who tried to “reset” relations with Russia. It didn’t work. Obama was eager to prove his flexibility for Putin. It got him nothing.

Obama let Putin walk into Ukraine and did nothing in return. Well, almost nothing. A senior military official at the time explained to The Wall Street Journal that the Obama White House was debating whether to send socks to the Ukrainians.

The Russians provocatively buzzed our ships and aircraft and sent bombers to our borders. Obama laughed it off.

When Obama refused to enforce his own red line in Syria, the Russians moved in with massive military forces, catching Brennan and others completely by surprise.

Russia strengthened its alliance with Iran, while Obama undermined Israel. Obama knew Russia was attempting to hack our election infrastructure, yet he did nothing about it.

While all this was happening, Obama refused to increase defense spending, which was a gift to Russia and other adversaries.

And Brennan thinks Trump is afraid of Putin?!

Abandoning the Dream

The New York Times published a disturbing opinion piece this weekend by Professor Ekow Yankah. Dr. Yankah asked, “Can my children be friends with white people?” Sadly, he seems to conclude that they cannot. He wrote:

“I will teach my boys to have profound doubts that friendship with white people is possible… For many weary minorities, the ridiculous thing was thinking friendship was possible in the first place.”

It was only a couple of years ago that people like this professor were saying, “I have to teach my children to be suspicious of the police.” Now he is saying, “I have to teach my children to be suspicious of all white people.”

That The New York Times would publish this racist column is disgusting. The Times would never and should never publish a column by a white professor asking if his children could be friends with black people. Instead, the Times would launch a campaign to get the racist professor fired.

Increasingly, many on the Left are abandoning Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream. The civil rights movement he started fought for a society where all people were judged based on the content of their character, not the color of their skin. But today many on the Left are all about exploiting race and marginalizing people based on the color of their skin.

For this professor, it’s all about progressive politics. Consider these excerpts:

“Of course, the rise of this president has broken bonds on all sides. But for people of color the stakes are different. Imagining we can now be friends across this political line is asking us to ignore our safety and that of our children… His election and the year that has followed have fixed the awful thought in my mind too familiar to black Americans: ‘You can’t trust these people.’”

In 2008, millions of white Americans voted for Barack Obama over John McCain. Many did so desperately hoping Obama’s election might result in racial reconciliation. Sadly, that did not happen.

Last year, there was no black candidate to vote for — just two white candidates. Professor Yankah is repeating the left-wing smear that equates conservatism with bigotry. Because many whites did not vote for the liberal candidate in 2016, they are all bigots. So, Professor Yankah is going to teach his children that they cannot trust white people.

This professor’s racism is blatantly obvious. He should be fired immediately.

Signs of the Culture War

If you needed more evidence of the culture war raging in America today, consider these examples: GQ, which considers itself the authority on men’s fashion and style, chose military-insulter, police-hater and national anthem-kneeler Colin Kaepernick as its “Citizen of the Year.”

Not surprisingly, GQ just underwent a round of layoffs. Given what he has done to the NFL, I suspect the adulation of Kaepernick will only exacerbate GQ‘s troubles.

But proving just how out-of-touch our media and cultural elites are, Glamour chose the hijab-wearing, Israel-bashing, Sharia-supporting extremist Linda Sarsour to be honored among its “Women of the Year.”

Maybe Kaepernick and Sarsour should start dating. They might be named “Couple of the Year” by People.

The Moore Mess

Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore is making headlines again. He has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old girl and for making unwelcome advances toward three other young women who were between the ages of 16 and 18 at the time.

As we send this report to you, yet another woman has come forward with more disturbing accusations. She claims to be a Trump supporter and says she is willing to testify under oath about her accusations.

Let’s establish what should be obvious. Any adult man in his 30s who knowingly attempted to seduce a 14-year-old girl is unfit to hold public office. Is that what Judge Roy Moore did? He vehemently denies it. Moore’s pastor of 25 years vouches for him as a man of integrity.

At the same time, I hope we can agree that no one should have their reputation unfairly destroyed by unproven, decades-old allegations.

The alleged incident happened 40 years ago. The reality becomes even murkier given the context of when and how the accusations are being made.

At this point, it is virtually impossible for men and women of goodwill without a political ax to grind to discern what the truth is. The only people who know for sure are Judge Moore and his accusers. Would an answer be for the judge to take a polygraph test? Since so many good people have defended him, I recommend he do so.

Trump Bump

A growing economy and the anticipation of tax cuts appear to be giving President Trump a bump in the polls. His approval rating jumped to 46% in the latest Rasmussen tracking poll — its highest level in five weeks.
