President Trump won a minor victory Monday in a surprising venue. The liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a lower court injunction and allowed the administration to begin enforcement of the president’s latest order restricting immigration from six countries that are hotbeds of radical Islamic terrorism: Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.
The Trump administration is right to get control of our immigration system. Here’s something most Americans probably don’t know: From 2007 to 2016 — under Presidents Bush and Obama — the government issued nearly 30,000 visas to individuals coming from Iran, Sudan and Syria. These nations have been designated by the government as “state sponsors of terrorism.”
In other legal news, the Supreme Court announced Monday that it will hear a critical case challenging California’s so-called “Reproductive FACT Act.” That radical law requires pro-life crisis pregnancy centers to promote abortion. Hawaii and Illinois have passed similar laws.
Between this case and one being argued next month, the Supreme Court is once again wading into the culture wars with potentially far-reaching consequences for free speech and religious liberty.
This is not a time for complacency, my friends. Men and women of faith must be engaged in the public policy process in defense of our cherished freedoms and values. The 2016 elections were a crucial battle, but the war is far from over.
FBI & Planned Parenthood
You no doubt recall the disturbing undercover videos that emerged in 2015 from the Center for Medical Progress. Those videos captured executives at Planned Parenthood attempting to illegally sell body parts and tissue obtained from its abortion business. These shocking revelations triggered hearings in the House and the Senate.
As a result of those investigations, a House select committee issued more than a dozen criminal and regulatory referrals last year. Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, also made a criminal referral against Planned Parenthood after a thorough investigation.
I am pleased to report that there has finally been some action regarding those criminal referrals.
News broke late Monday afternoon that the FBI is requesting documents and information compiled by the Senate Judiciary Committee related to its investigation of Planned Parenthood. This report suggests that the Trump administration may be launching a formal criminal investigation into Planned Parenthood’s trafficking in aborted baby parts. We will keep you posted.
Speaking of Investigations…
The Atlantic published what it thought was a bombshell report, entitled, “The Secret Correspondence Between Donald Trump Jr. and WikiLeaks.” Reacting to this report, Donald Trump Jr. published that “secret correspondence” with Julian Assange in a series of tweets, which included his three responses.
They reveal nothing criminal by Donald Trump Jr. That said, there is evidence of a crime here. He spoke to congressional investigators several weeks ago and strongly believes that someone on Capitol Hill leaked his emails to The Atlantic, which published them.
Once again, this shows the willingness of the Left to use any and every tool of the government to break ethical and legal standards about the handling of sensitive information.
Don’t forget that James Comey admitted under oath that he leaked government memos to a liberal professor so the liberal professor could leak them to the liberal media to increase the pressure for the appointment of a special prosecutor. And we know that Hillary Clinton was grossly negligent and extremely careless in handling the classified information in her care.
The entire left-wing establishment — the Clintons, progressive politicians in Congress, Deep State bureaucrats and the media — should be on the hot seat for how it has mishandled secret information, yet no reporter is putting that together.
Thankfully, it seems the Justice Department may be getting its act together. Attorney General Jeff Sessions told members of Congress that his department has “27 active leak investigations open today.”
That’s a good start, but it may not be enough. According to The Daily Caller, “A July Senate report found that there were at least 125 news articles based on classified information during Trump’s first 126 days in office.”
#NotMyHero
In yesterday’s report, I joked that Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour and failed quarterback Colin Kaepernick should start dating. Hollywood would swoon over the radical couple.
Apparently, they talk frequently. Check out Linda Sarsour’s tribute in GQ‘s story declaring Kaepernick “Citizen of the Year”:
“I always tell Colin: 'You are an American hero. You may not feel like a hero right now, but one day, people will realize the sacrifices that you made for so many others.’ There might even be a day when we’ll be walking down Colin Kaepernick Boulevard and people will remember what Colin Kaepernick did, just like we remember Muhammad Ali.”
Colin Kaepernick claims to be fighting against oppression. Has he ever considered the association of Islam with slavery?
It is beyond disgusting that cop-hating, America-hating, Castro-loving Colin Kaepernick is held up as a role model for America’s youth and considered anyone’s “Citizen of the Year.”
But it is not at all surprising that he is regularly consulting with an anti-Semitic Sharia-apologist who attempted to exploit a hurricane in order to raise funds for her radical allies.
Hate Rising
The FBI has released its latest update on hate crimes statistics. The figures are not encouraging. Hate is on the rise.
According to the FBI report, hate crimes rose five percent from 2015 to 2016. Crimes committed based on religious bias accounted for more than 20 percent of all hate crimes.
And even though Jews make up only two percent of the U.S. population, 54 percent of religiously motivated hate crimes were anti-Semitic. Anti-Islamic crimes accounted for 24.5 percent of religiously motivated hate crimes.
So for all the hype about rampant Islamophobia in America, Jews were twice as likely to be victims of religiously motivated hate crimes than Muslims.
