The Patriot Post® · Recess Canceled
Kudos to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell!
He announced yesterday afternoon that he was canceling three weeks of the upcoming August recess due to the “historic obstruction” of Senate Democrats.
Instead of campaigning during August, McConnell is going to force Democrats to stay in Washington and work … on approving more of President Trump’s conservative nominees.
Trump Celebrates America
For weeks there have been stories of turmoil within the Philadelphia Eagles team regarding whether the Super Bowl champions would follow tradition and accept an invitation to the White House to celebrate their big win.
The president has already hosted dozens of sports teams. These teams are multiracial. They are made up of Republicans and Democrats. This year, members of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team huddled around the president in prayer at the White House.
But the millionaire athletes on the Philadelphia Eagles couldn’t decide whether they could lower themselves enough to grace the doors of the White House and meet with the president who has reduced minority unemployment to record lows.
What really upset some of the players is that President Trump continues to insist that every NFL player should respectfully stand during the national anthem. In recent weeks, the NFL, feeling the heat from millions of fans, adopted a new rule that tracks closely to what the president urged.
Yesterday was supposed to be the day when the Eagles and their fans celebrated Philadelphia’s first Super Bowl win at the White House. One thousand Eagles fans were already invited to the event. But in recent days, the team decided that only a handful of players would go to the White House.
The president is a deeply patriotic man. I would encourage cynics to go back and read interviews he gave decades ago. It is the same man you see now who speaks about making America great again and appreciating the blessings of living here.
So it wasn’t surprising to hear that President Trump grew tired of the Philadelphia Eagles soap opera. He withdrew the White House invitation because the team seems more committed to disrespecting our flag.
The White House announced that the celebration would still take place. But instead of celebrating a football team, 1,000 fans joined our president for a celebration to “honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem."
Kudos to you, Mr. President!
Speaking of Celebrations…
President Trump has been in office for 500 days now. Monday, the White House released a summary of its results and accomplishments over that time. It is very impressive. Read it here. And be certain to share it with friends and family members.
Democrats Make Demands
As President Trump prepares for his June 12th summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, he’s getting some unsolicited advice from Chuck Schumer and his gang. Top Senate Democrats sent a letter to Trump making demands about what must be included in any deal with North Korea.
Yesterday’s Washington Post report on the letter carries this headline: "Senate Democrats Demand Trump Hold The Line In North Korea Talks.” Here’s a brief summary of their demands:
The deal must remove all weapons of mass destruction — nuclear, chemical, and biological — from North Korea.
The deal must include the “complete and verifiable denuclearization of North Korea.” Materials related to nuclear-weapons production must be removed from the country.
North Korea must end its ballistic-missile program.
North Korea must permit “anywhere, anytime” inspections.
The deal must be permanent.
Do you notice anything unusual about these conditions? None of them applied to Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran! Senate Democrats helped Obama erase every single one of these “lines” when it came to the Islamic Republic. Yet 42 out of 46 Senate Democrats supported that deal.
Where were Senate Democrats when Obama was erasing his own “red lines” in Syria?
And exactly which liberal president in recent decades should Trump emulate when it comes to drawing “lines” with North Korea? Jimmy Carter? Bill Clinton? Barack Obama?
Clearly, whatever lines they drew were imaginary. North Korea crossed every one of them, which is why we are in this current crisis.
But I have to tip my hat to them. The Left has been incredibly weak against America’s enemies for decades. Yet it can brazenly make demands like this because it knows the liberal media would never expose it, and it counts on voters having next to no memory.
Unfortunately for Chuck & Company, we have a very good memory! That’s why the work we do, including this daily report, is so important.
Speaking of Bill…
Did Bill Clinton just join the #MeToo movement?
The former president sat down with NBC to promote his new book. (Yes, he has a book too.) But reporter Craig Melvin did not stick to the script and started asking Clinton some tough questions about the Lewinsky scandal in view of the current #MeToo movement.
That’s when Bill lost it.
He claims to have been a champion of women’s rights, a defender of the Constitution and a victim of the scandal. “Nobody believes that I got out of that for free,” Clinton said. “I left the White House $16 million in debt."
Really? According to one analysis, Bill and Hillary made $240 million since leaving the White House.
The NBC interview was so bad, Bill tried to apologize later in the day, saying, "The hubbub was I got hot under the collar."
Just when the Left starts breathing a sigh of relief that Hillary’s profile seems to be fading, up pops Bill to remind everyone why they don’t like the Clintons.
