I’d like you to join me in a thought experiment: Imagine for a moment that somebody wrote a ten-page report filled with an assortment of charges against you. Imagine that some are so awful that if your family and neighbors ever learned about them you’d probably lose your job and your family. 

And imagine that the people who put together this collection of unverified charges convinced a court to issue a warrant to monitor your phone calls and those of your close friends and associates.

And then, fulfilling your worst fears, imagine that your enemies leaked all of this to your local newspaper.

How would this make you feel?  

Needless to say, it would be a nightmare. But we don’t have to imagine because that’s exactly what former FBI Director James Comey did.

He was given a collection of charges (the Steele dossier) against then-candidate Donald Trump. He took the dossier to the secret FISA court and told the court that the charges had been verified even though they were not.  

Acting on the FBI assurances, the court issued warrants allowing him to snoop on Trump’s campaign team. That’s what started the entire two-year investigation of the president that continues today.

As you know, Comey was fired, and he continues to attack the president. His hubris and arrogance were on full display this week when he testified before a congressional committee.

Rep. Mark Meadows asked Comey when he learned about who funded the salacious Steele dossier. Comey stunned members of Congress when he replied, “Who cares? … it didn’t matter.”

Rep. Meadows shot back, saying, “It does make a difference… it does matter to me and most Americans.” Rep. Meadows right.  

It should matter to every American when the most powerful people in government, the people we give great authority to go after terrorists and mob bosses, have abused that power to try to destroy a duly elected president. 

No matter whether you are a Democrat, a Republican or a #NeverTrumper, liberal, conservative or libertarian, the political weaponization of our national security apparatus ought to strike fear into the hearts of every American. Using the power of government to harass and destroy political opponents is what fascists do.

Speaking Of Fascists…

Sometime ago we told you about the Antifa mobs that chased Ted Cruz and his wife out of a Washington, D.C., restaurant and attacked the home of Tucker Carlson. Those mobs were organized by the same radical group, Smash Racism DC.

Kudos to The Daily Caller for unmasking the leader of this dangerous group, Joseph “Jose” Alcoff. It turns out that Alcoff, an avowed communist, operates under several aliases, including Jose Martin and “Chepe." 

He has been a key organizer in the Occupy Wall Street movement, Antifa and other fringe groups such as "Cop Watch." 

According to The Daily Caller, Alcoff has been "quoted in press releases from” Sens. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA). He has appeared at events with Representatives Don Beyer (D-VA) and Maxine Waters (D-CA), and Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH).

But using his aliases, he has posted extreme anti-American, anti-capitalism rhetoric, such as:

“#DearRichPeople die in a fire, or someday we will kill you in a fire.”

“Police lives don’t matter. They can all burn in Hell.”

“I hate this country. It isn’t half bad. It’s all bad.”

“I truly hope [Trump] has a very public death at the hands of the pitchfork wielding exploited, a public execution that befits Trump’s stature.”

The FBI should stop harassing Donald Trump and pay more attention to “Chepe.”

And Republican leaders should be demanding that Senators Baldwin, Brown and Feinstein, along with Representatives Beyer and Waters, denounce Alcoff and his extremism.

Exploiting A Tragedy

The left is continuing its efforts to exploit the tragic death of little Jakelin Caal Maquin to smear the Border Patrol and, by extension, the immigration policies of President Trump.

Tuesday, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) demanded the resignation of Commissioner Kevin McAleenan, the head of Customs and Border Protection. 

Yesterday, lawyers representing Jakelin’s family called for a thorough investigation conducted independently from the Department of Homeland Security, which has already launched its own investigation. They have not ruled out suing the government.

What is being overlooked in much of the reporting on this tragic situation is that the initial indication from the hospital is that Jakelin died of septic shock, which is usually caused by an infection.

What kind of infection? How many other people were exposed? We don’t know.

In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security noted the following:

“This past year alone Border Patrol rescued 4,311 people in distress. While rarely reported, this flood of injured or sick persons encountering our Border Patrol has resulted in the Border Patrol cross-training 1,300 agents as EMTs.”

Again, this is why we need serious border security. The left’s open borders agenda is encouraging migrants to take enormous personal risks. How is that compassionate?
