The Patriot Post® · Barr Turns the Tables
Attorney General William Barr was scheduled to testify before the House Judiciary Committee yesterday. But he declined to appear.
For some reason, House Democrats insisted on having committee lawyers question Barr. Eighteen Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee have law degrees. Why is it necessary for additional committee lawyers to question Barr?
The answer is that they wanted to turn what would normally be an oversight hearing into a deposition or an impeachment trial. They won’t say that because they don’t want to infuriate voters with their absurd antics.
But they wanted the public to see the trappings of a court proceeding as if the attorney general and, by extension, the president he serves are guilty of some crime. Barr did the right thing by refusing to cooperate with this charade.
Every step of the way, Attorney General Barr has gone above and beyond what the law required. He was under absolutely no legal requirement to make the Mueller report public. Yet the Democrats are still demanding more because they didn’t get the results they wanted.
What explains the left’s over-the-top harassment, smears and demands for Barr’s resignation?
The left is scared to death that, unlike the previous attorney general, William Barr is not recused from all things Russia and has vowed to get to the bottom of the deep state’s harassment of Donald Trump.
At Wednesday’s Senate hearing Barr said this in response to a question from Sen. Marsha Blackburn:
How did we get to the point here where the evidence is now that the president was falsely accused of colluding with the Russians, accused of being treasonous and accused of being a Russian agent? And the evidence now is that that was without a basis. And two years of his administration have been dominated by allegations that have now been proven false.
Democrats and their left-wing media allies don’t want voters asking that very question, much less demanding answers that may zero in on collusion by the Clinton campaign, foreign agents and the Obama CIA, FBI and Justice Department.
Executing Babies?
One of the positive things about people like Ilhan Omar and her unfiltered opinions is that it is so revealing of the left’s mindset. Like Omar, State Representative John Rogers (D-AL) expressed an unfiltered opinion on abortion, which I assume is not a rare view on the pro-abortion left.
During a debate this week on Alabama’s Human Life Protection Act, Rogers said this:
Some kids are unwanted, so you kill them now or you kill them later. You bring them in the world unwanted, unloved, you send them to the electric chair. So, you kill them now or you kill them later.
What a disgusting comment about babies and their mothers. Is he really suggesting that unplanned babies will grow up to be murderers?
The facts clearly do not support Rep. Rogers’ radical opinion. Last year, there were only 25 executions in the United States. Planned Parenthood performed more than 300,000 abortions last year.
At least convicted murderers get the benefit of a trial before they are put to death. Unborn babies in the womb aren’t read their rights, much less get a hearing, before they are put to death. And that’s what is wrong with abortion.
Roe v. Wade, like the infamous Dred Scott decision that legalized slavery, is based on the idea that some humans have no rights we are bound to respect.
At yesterday’s National Day of Prayer service, President Trump vowed to defend the sanctity of life, saying, “Every child — born and unborn — is a sacred gift from God.” The president also announced that his administration was expanding conscience rights protections for healthcare professionals and institutions.
Holocaust Remembrance Day
All Israelis — no matter where they were or what they were doing — stopped everything Thursday morning at 10:00 AM. Sirens sounded throughout the Jewish state reminding the nation of the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.
We know that one of the things that allowed the Holocaust to happen was decades of rampant anti-Semitism throughout Europe — in the media, in the arts, in academia. Students burned books on their campuses that were written by Jews. Jewish stores and synagogues were attacked.
Today is a good day for reflection because it seems in many respects we have returned to living in that age.
The skinheads and neo-Nazis who marched through the streets of Charlottesville two years ago and through the streets of Plauen, Germany, this week should be condemned by all decent people. But they will never be a mass movement. They don’t try to disguise their hatred with respectability.
The Nazis burned books written by Jews. Today many “respectable” anti-Semites on university campuses are preaching “anti-Zionism” and spreading hatred in their classrooms.
In the halls of Congress, and in the progressive movement, “respectable” leaders associate with Louis Farrakhan and spread their hatred for Israel.
In 1930s Germany, vicious cartoons mocked and dehumanized Jews. Now the New York Times is running such cartoons. Synagogues are once again coming under attack. Jews are being beaten in the streets.
In his proclamation recognizing May as Jewish American Heritage Month, President Trump declared:
We recognize the resilience of the Jewish community in the face of great adversity and celebrate the countless ways Jewish Americans have strengthened our Nation. We … stand in solidarity with our American Jewish neighbors as we reaffirm our commitment to combat all forms of hate and anti-Semitism.
So, please remember the Holocaust today. But get up tomorrow determined to fight the seeds of the Holocaust that are spreading once again.
