The Patriot Post® · Stop Trying to Impeach the First Patient Advocate We’ve Ever Had
By Natalie Harp
The Democrat-led impeachment inquisition is a direct threat to the health of every American.
The media feigned outrage when President Trump declared, “I wouldn’t be surprised if the hoax didn’t come a little bit from some of the [industries like pharmaceuticals] that we’re taking on. They’re very powerful. They spend a lot of money — spend, I think, more money than any other group in the world actually, in terms of lobbying and lobbying abilities. And I wouldn’t be surprised.”
I wouldn’t be surprised, either.
While the do-nothing Democrats like to dis the multitrillion dollar global healthcare market on the campaign trail, these career politicians have no qualms about accepting generous campaign donations from the healthcare industry — including pharmaceutical companies that have actually sued the Trump administration in federal court.
That’s why patients took notice at the stark contrast last Friday as bought-and-paid-for Democrats continued their impeachment farce while President Trump announced two new rules mandating increased transparency in the healthcare system.
No more backroom deals that limit patients’ choices and silence our voices. “We believe the American people have a right to know the price of services before they go to visit the doctor,” President Trump declared.
And he’s right: Transparency is “more important than healthcare” because transparency alone threatens the deep-state bureaucracy and self-serving lobbyists.
Thanks to the two new healthcare transparency rules announced Friday, patients will now be empowered to compare costs and quality before treatment, rather than being stuck with surprise medical bills after the fact. Health insurance plans will now be required to publish an “estimate of their cost-sharing liability for all covered healthcare items and services,” and hospitals will be compelled to disclose “clear, accessible information about their ‘standard charges’ for the items and services they provide.”
Friday’s rollout is only the latest in a series of reforms President Trump has implemented to deliver high-value, patient-centered healthcare. For instance, the president is working with governors such as Ron DeSantis in Florida to safely import drugs and further drive down the cost of prescription drugs — which are already reaching historic lows. The White House is also developing a plan for new middle-class tax cuts, which will put more money in the pockets of patients to help them resolve past medical debts while the Trump administration continues its efforts to further reduce the cost of healthcare.
Meanwhile, the Democrats do nothing. Instead of collaborating with the president to make healthcare more accessible and more affordable, leading Democrats are focused on trying to kick him out of office, and the party’s presidential candidates fantasize about taking away private health coverage from more than 100 million Americans and forcing them into a one-size-fits-all, government-run system that will offer neither transparency nor choice.
The American people will not stay silent as do-nothing Democrats try to take away the greatest advocate we’ve ever had with their impeachment crusade. Playing politics with our lives will only further doom the Democrats’ electoral prospects in 2020.
