By Paul S. Gardiner

This author recently experienced a very powerful dream about the game of golf that he believes may portend events for Donald J. Trump. While the contents of the dream have no direct connection with Mr. Trump, the vividness, clarity, and overpowering strength of the dream led to the interpretation contained herein. No doubt many readers will dispute the interpretation or think this entire discourse is asinine, but as the saying goes, “It is what it is.”

People believing that the Christian Bible is the very word of God understand that there are at least four different scriptures stating that nothing is impossible with or for God (see Matthew 19:26, Mark 10:27, Luke 1:37, and Luke 18:27). This fact is important because the amount of repetition of an idea or statement in the Bible is an indication of its importance and truthfulness. The understanding that nothing is impossible for God is central to the dream interpretation that follows.

However, before describing the dream and its potential meaning, it is helpful to share some context for the dream. The author is:

1) A longtime retired golfer, playing to a three handicap at one point. Dreaming about golf is something that hasn’t happened to the author in well over 30-40 years.

2) A person who rarely remembers much about dreams. If a dream is remembered, it is in bits and pieces with no special significance.

3) An avid believer in President Donald Trump’s conservative policies that strongly support limited government, capitalism, individual freedom and responsibility, secure borders, love of country, and many other traditional American values.

4) Greatly distressed about the conduct and results of the November national election.

The author explains his dream as follows:

Setting. I was standing on a hard wooden floor in a large room on the second floor of an old house. To my left, I faced an open small window about 15 yards away. The window opening was a small rectangular shape no larger than 2’ x 3’; the opening was about 5’ or 6’ above the floor.

A golf ball was on the floor near my feet, and I realized that I was playing in a golf tournament with many people standing around me. The people were waiting to see how I would attempt to hit the ball through the open window back towards the golf course where the tournament was taking place.

During the dream, it never occurred to me to wonder why or how I came to be where I was or to question what I had to do.

Actions. After looking at the ball on the floor ,which was now placed about 3’ in front of and between my feet, I determined to take a three wood club and attempt to hit the ball through the narrow window opening about 15 yards away. I remember saying to myself, “There is no chance of hitting this ball off a bare hardwood floor with enough rise and accuracy to pass through that narrow opening, but I must try.”

Thus, I approached the ball, double checked my intended line of flight for the ball, and started my backswing. At the very top of my backswing, I remember saying, “It is in God’s hands.” I completed my swing having connected with the ball. To my great astonishment and shouts of disbelief and cries of awe from the crowd of people around me, the ball sailed through the opening in a rising, straight trajectory on towards the golf course. Everyone in the room was as astonished as me; the loud shouts of disbelief resonated in my ears.

Interpretation. Takeaways from the dream are as follows:

1) Nothing in this world, absolutely nothing, is impossible for God to do or cause to happen.

2) Instead of trying to make a seemingly impossible golf shot, Donald Trump is trying to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds to win reelection to national office.

3) As in the dream, God could cause an astonishing event or events to happen to allow Mr. Trump to succeed in his quest.

4) Regardless of what transpires in the coming weeks, the matter is most assuredly in God’s hands.
