There used to be ads for the body-building programs of Charles Atlas in a great many magazines. They took the form of a little series of cartoons. In the first panel, we see a puny little guy lying with his girlfriend on a beach blanket. In the second panel, a muscle-bound bully kicks sand in his face. In the third panel, the girlfriend goes off with Mr. Muscles. But after completing the mail order course, the victim goes back and out-muscles the bully. If I recall correctly, his erstwhile girlfriend swoons at his feet.

I never quite believed it at the time, although there is something within all of us who want to see the sand-kicking bully get some sand kicked in his own smug face.

At long last, we are seeing it happen. Because actress Gina Carano correctly pointed out the parallel between what is happening now to what was taking place in Germany in the early 1930s, she was fired off a Disney TV series called “The Mandalorian.”

In response, she was quickly hired to star in a movie, but, even better, a large number of patriots have canceled Disney Plus.

The other good news is that in spite of CVS joining Bed, Bath & Beyond, Kohl’s and a few other outfits in knuckling under to the left-wing mob and refusing to stock Mike Lindell’s pillows and other products, he recently had 30,000 orders in a day, setting a record.

It goes against my basic instincts to boycott companies because it causes hardships for employees who have nothing to do with the vile policies their employers pursue, but in a war there will always be collateral victims. It’s high time some of the victims were on the other side.

So every time they boycott one of ours, we should at least try to boycott five of theirs. It’s past time for us to remind people that decisions, as well as elections, have consequences.

You might say about California that it is a sad state of affairs. But even here, things are looking up somewhat. It appears that we will actually have enough signatures to recall Gavin Newsom. I have no reason to believe that whoever we elect to replace him will be an improvement, but at least we will have sent a message that a price will be paid for locking us up, closing the schools, padlocking the churches and then dining out after telling the rest of us that we couldn’t.

Speaking of restaurants, I was recently witness to the working of a bureaucrat. I was having an outdoor lunch with a couple of friends at my favorite restaurant. Suddenly, a very bossy woman showed up, demanded to see the owner and then, because she hadn’t brought her own tape measure, insisted on using his. In the middle of the lunch hour, she began measuring the distance between the tables. It turns out the latest order is eight feet, no longer six feet, between tables. So she had the owner and bus boy moving tables around the patio.

For good measure, she hit the owner with a $500 fine.

I don’t know if they were moving tables around in 1933 Berlin, but I can guarantee they had plenty of people like the female bureaucrat to carry out their orders.

It hasn’t mattered to governors like Newsom, Cuomo, Pritzker and Whitmer, that tens of thousands of restaurants and small businesses that have closed will never re-open.

I feel sorry for those entrepreneurs who saw their lives and dreams shattered because of power-mad politicians. At least, I feel sorry for the Republicans among them. The others deserve what they get because, of their own volition, they voted for Democrats.

I know that a lot of my Conservative readers have turned their back on Fox for one reason or another. As you know, I only watch two hours a night, Bret Baier and Tucker Carlson. I watch Baier to keep up with the news so that by the time I post an article I may have written three or four days earlier, I am able to update my comments.

I watch Carlson because he gets to sound off on the issues I find most important, mainly, these days, dealing with censorship by the oligarchs of the Silicon Valley.

Still, for those who have written off Fox as a sell-out to the Left, I think it is worth noting that it is only Fox, not OAN or any of the other alternatives to Fox, that those on the Left — CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post — have tried to silence, have tried to knock out of existence.

Considering how many politicians are in the pocket of Amazon, YouTube, Twitter, Microsoft, Facebook, etc., it’s not too surprising that the Justice Department hasn’t charged people like Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Jack Dorsey and Mark Zuckerberg, with controlling monopolies.

But I do wonder if the mooks in Washington, D.C., will ever wake up to the fact that the power capital of America is no longer where they do business. It’s way on the other side of the country, in Silicon Valley.

You’d think they’d be offended.

I would say that Trump’s lawyers made a hash of things because they only used about three of the 16 hours they were allotted to present their defense. Why on earth didn’t they spend another 13 hours showing videos of Democratic mayors, governors and members of Congress calling for violence and defending the scumbags who set fire to police precincts, courthouses and churches while looting stores and attacking bystanders and cops, all while describing the Soros-funded anarchists as peaceful protesters.

It has finally come to light that Governor Andrew Cuomo hid the actual number of people he killed by moving Covid-infected patients into nursing homes. I hope he’s recalled. After that, I hope he’s charged with manslaughter and then, for good measure, tossed into a prison where some of the prisoners lost parents or grandparents at those old age facilities.

When dismissing the number of deaths caused by his insane policy, Cuomo said “Who cares? Death is death.” To some of us, he sounded as if he was channeling his inner Hillary Clinton who, when accused of letting our ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, and three brave men who died trying to save him, die in Benghazi, said: “Who cares, at this point, why they were murdered?”

But in the meantime, could the TV Academy at least take back that Emmy they gave Cuomo for the masterful way he dealt with the pandemic on television?

On the other hand, they might consider giving him a replacement statuette for his compelling performance as a sleazy New York politician. It was as if he was born to play the part.

While doing an update on the McCloskeys, the St. Louis couple who were arrested for defending their home, their lives and their dog, against a BLM invasion, Tucker Carlson learned that in what has become a cause celebre among proponents of the Second Amendment, the NRA has taken a knee.

According to Mr. McCloskey, the organization hasn’t even contacted him with an offer of legal or financial help as he defends himself and his wife in court for the crime of brandishing guns on their own property when confronted by a violent mob.

Hey, guys, maybe you can take a break from your constant fund-raising.

In the wake of the January 6th brouhaha on Capitol Hill, Joe Biden has been nattering on non-stop about systemic racism and white supremacy.

But during the many months of arson, vandalism and murder, committed by the thugs in BLM and Antifa, we never heard the crime boss utter a single word about black racism or the white supremacists rioting under the vile Antifan flag.

That’s bad enough, but for reasons nobody can satisfactorily explain, Biden has reversed President Trump’s order that American colleges and universities disclose any donations they receive from Communist China.

If I had to guess, I would wager that Hunter Biden is opening the Biden Family College of Financial Finagling. I can hear the students now, urging on their football team with the catchy “Fight on for BFCFF!”

Sometimes, people assume that rich people became that way because they’re smarter than other people. I have met too many rich people and of course heard from and about many others who somehow manage to accrue large sums of money without being weighed down by a brain larger than a sparrow’s.

I’ll give you an example of a true life experience. Once, I had an appointment to interview an extremely successful developer. As I rode up to his office on his private elevator, I happened to notice the little plaque that identified the manufacturer as a Swiss company named Schindler.

After he and I had exchanged handshakes and salutations, I pointed out that his elevator could be referred to as Schindler’s lift.

His look was so puzzled, I might as well have been speaking Mandarin or Erdu.

There are few things as demoralizing as having to explain one’s cracks. But I felt he was owed an explanation, so I reminded him that the English call their elevators lifts. I expected him to smile politely now that he got the reference. Instead, he merely shrugged, as much in the fog as ever.

And that man can probably buy and sell all of us and still have cab fare.
