There are times when even I think I am guilty of piling on black people, especially when I remind myself that some of my nicest neighbors are members of a black family.
But there’s the rub. There are many decent, hard-working, tax-paying black people. But put them in a group and they suddenly reflect the lowest common denominator. It certainly doesn’t help their overall image that 95% of them will vote for any dope on the ballot so long as they spot a (D) after his or her name.
From my point of view, I feel called upon to balance the coverage because in spite of their record number of murders, assaults and abortions, blacks have somehow become America’s sacred cows. Let a white politician even question the work habits of black students, and his career is finished. Once tarred as a racist, even his family will disown him.
In recent weeks, we have seen teachers in Chicago, the majority of whom are black, refuse to go back in the classroom even after they’ve taken cuts in front of the elderly and received their vaccinations.
Although they always insist they’re doing it for the kids when they go on strike for larger salaries, bigger pensions and smaller classes, suddenly the fact that after a year of lockdown, the kids are suffering from depression and committing suicide in record numbers, the teachers were making it clear that they are enjoying being paid not to teach.
As if that’s not bad enough, black people reached a new low by flooding social media with tweets condemning Tom Brady as a racist for daring to defeat a black quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, in the Super Bowl during Black History month.
Of course the pump was already primed for the pinheads to attack Brady because he had made no secret of the fact that he supported President Trump.
What I have never understood is why those, like Mahomes, Barack Obama, Derek Jeter and Kamala Harris, who are only half-black, are always identified as black. It is particularly curious when it’s the father who is black, as is the case in these four prominent cases.
With Jews, even when it comes to the child’s religion, it’s always determined by the mother. That’s because after more than 5,000 years, Jews are realistic enough to accept that you always know who the mother is, whereas the father’s identity is often in doubt.
I can see where the fans of the Kansas City Chiefs might want to beat up the Super Bowl referees, but to lynch Tom Brady on social media because he won a game that happened to take place during the oh-so patronizing Black History month is just plain tacky.
Besides, it’s Kansas City that has that racially inflammatory name.
Speaking of ignorant prejudice, it occurred to me that in today’s Hollywood, you could not get a movie produced if it portrayed George Washington and Thomas Jefferson as heroic figures.
Is it any surprise that the kids will swallow any slop dished out to them by left-wing teachers who insist that America is evil today because it was evil at its very inception? We live in a country that bans the likes of “Huckleberry Finn” and “To Kill a Mockingbird,” but uses the Communist drivel of people like Saul Alinsky, Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn, as textbooks.
I can’t begin to tell you how disgusted I am, as a Jew, that these three alleged intellectuals are Jewish. It certainly gives the lie to the notion that Jews are super smart, even if they do know that only the mother’s identity can be safely assumed.
Besides, how intelligent can they be when 75% of them vote exactly the way that 95% of black people do?
I know that the teachers’ unions are the major donors to the Democrats, exceeding even what defense attorneys kick in every election cycle.
Still, I was confused by Biden’s siding with Chicago’s hooky-playing teachers. It’s not as if he’s going to run for re-election. I would have thought it made more sense for him to take the side of Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who was representing the parents and the kids who are both yearning to have schools re-opened. There are a lot more of them than there are of teachers. Besides, the unions will always support Democrats because they know where their bread is buttered.
Biden merely showed himself to be a kneejerk partisan who had bowed to the teachers for the past 50 years and now finds it impossible to break an old habit.
It also explains why Biden is siding with Latin Americans looking to invade our nation. I’m certain, as Donald Trump once said, that some of them are fine people, but a lot of these young males are drug smugglers, rapists, gangbangers and human traffickers. On top of that, they will be let in even if they’re infected with the Wuhan virus. There isn’t a reason on earth why any of them, including the decent ones, should be allowed to take cuts ahead of all the people around the world who are trying to get here legally.
I recently decided to clear out a corner of my desk that has had so much stuff deposited there over the past 20 years it began to resemble an archaeological dig. I couldn’t believe some of the things I came across. One was a copy of a letter I had written to the Writers Guild monthly, which is called Written By.
As some of you know, I have been at war with my Guild for most of my professional life. With the possible exception of the Congressional Black Caucus, it may be the most left-wing organization in America.
I titled my letter “J'Accuse” as an homage to Emile Zola’s defense of Capt. Alfred Dreyfus, who was railroaded by the anti-Semitic French military back in the 19th century.
I wrote: “My timing could have been better, I acknowledge. If someone is going to complain that [editor] Richard Stayton engages in ageism, doing so the same month he devotes a third of the magazine to Norman Lear and Mel Brooks is not a great idea.
"But I can’t let a little thing like that get in the way of my justifiable resentment.
"Several weeks ago, I sent him an email suggesting he might be interested in profiling someone like…well, me.
"After all, I have been nominated for three WGA awards for my TV movies (winning once), been nominated for a Humanitas (for my Jesus Christ Mash episode), won three Christopher awards and an Edgar.
"My TV credits run the gamut from Dragnet, McMillan & Wife, Dr. Quinn and Diagnosis Murder to The Bob Newhart Show, Mary Tyler Moore, Family Ties, Rhoda and Mash.
"I thought I was particularly newsworthy because at the age of 77, I had just completed post-production on a feature, Angels on Tap (Ed Asner, Marion Ross, Jamie Farr, Ron Masak, Alan Rachins) that I wrote and co-produced, and where we obviously did not engage in ageism.
"In addition, I had had two books published in 2017 (the first, the very witty "Angels on Tap,” which served as the source material for the movie; the other: “The Story of My Life,” which relates those times when my life intersected those of Groucho Marx, Billy Wilder, Oscar Levant, William Peter Blatty, Spiro Agnew, Dalton Trumbo, Norman Lear, Michel Legrand, Gene Kelly, Ginger Rogers, Sonny Tufts, George Kennedy, William Saroyan, Susan Strasberg, Andy Warhol Diane Sawyer, Bob Hope, Jimmy Stewart, Jill St. John, George Burns, Fred Astaire, Tiny Tim, George Carlin, Stan Laurel and other notables. In short, it’s the story of my life with the boring parts left out.)
“Admittedly, my motive was basically one of self-interest. It could only help my sales to get my books publicized in a magazine dedicated to writers. Still, it galled me for years that Written By is far more concerned with a Blacklist that ended over 60 years ago and affected, whether we care to admit it or not, a small handful of writers, whereas no attention is paid to the Graylist that has been in effect for the past quarter century and which, sooner or later, will affect nearly every member of the WGA.
"Moreover, it is just lousy journalism to devote nearly every issue to the latest flavor of the month, some one-hit wonder who was lucky enough to get a series or a feature greenlighted and will probably never be heard from again.
"The fact is, with the glaring exception of the current issue, the only time a writer over the age of 50 is likely to be mentioned in the pages of Written By is when he or she finally gives up the ghost.”
Wesley Forgue wrote to point out that whereas the headline let us all know that Rep. Ron Wright (R-TX) had tested positive for Covid-19 when he passed away at the age of 67, it wasn’t until the eighth paragraph that his newspaper found it worth mentioning that he had been dealing with lung cancer for two years.
Gordon Strader sent along a meme that actually got a chuckle out of me. It read: “Mail-In Touchdowns Came In Overnight Between 3-5 a.m., Resulting in the Kansas City Chiefs Winning the Super Bowl 33-31.”
I’ll understand if Donald Trump doesn’t find it amusing.
