When it comes to human folly, there are fewer and fewer things that shock or even surprise me. But there is still something that continues to amaze me. That particular something is the fact that the Democrats had to resort of cheating in order to defeat Donald Trump.

Before moving on to explain why I was surprised, I should state that I am as certain that they cheated — mainly by using the over-hyped pandemic as an excuse to send out 100 million unrequested, unverifiable, ballots — as I am that the virus originated in the Wuhan lab.

The giveaway with the lab is the vigor with which China has thwarted an honest investigation, going so far as to accuse the U.S. of causing the pandemic.

The tip-off to fraud in the presidential election mainly comes down to numbers. Does anyone really believe that even though Trump received several million more votes than he’d garnered in 2016, which argued against a widespread dissatisfaction with his policies or his personality, Biden managed to collect 16 million more votes than either Obama or Mrs. Clinton had tallied.

To me, the most fantastic aspect of the election wasn’t that such massive fraud took place, but that at least 74 million Americans voted for President Trump in spite of all the mighty forces aligned against him.

We can begin with Congress that had twice impeached him, once even after he was out of office, which was tantamount to shooting a deposed king after he’d been beheaded.

Then there was the corrupt media in all its forms (newspapers, TV networks, electronic platforms) that had spent more than four years not only attacking him day after day for every crime and sin imaginable, but censoring every negative fact about Joe Biden, the don of America’s number one crime family.

Next, there were the traitorous members of what came to be known as the Deep State. Although we mainly heard about such people as James Comey, John Brennan, Robert Mueller, James Clapper and Michael Hayden, the real danger that was posed to both Donald Trump and the Republic, was that these were merely the heads of the snake and were easily replaced at the FBI, the CIA and the NSA. While the usual suspects in Congress nattered on about all the honest, dedicated, bureaucrats in these agencies, the fact remains that among the tens of thousands, hardly any whistleblowers came forward to report about the illegal activities of their bosses, including an attempted coup by members of the so-called intelligence community.

As Sen. Chuck Schumer, in a rare moment of candor, said after Trump had questioned the honesty and patriotism of these loathsome creatures lurking in the Potomac Swamp, “Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday of getting back at you.”

Probably more like 60 ways. I always wondered if the Senate Majority Leader spoke from experience. After all, it was understood that J. Edgar Hoover always managed to get Congress to increase the budget for the FBI year after year because he had dirt on just about everyone in Washington.

In naming the malignant forces working overtime to undermine the Republic, no list would be complete without America’s teachers, from K through graduate school. Working hand in hand with the media, they have sought to destroy the natural patriotic spirit that lurks within human beings, even those unfortunate enough to have been born Russian, Iranian, Chinese or French, let alone American.

Not to be ignored are the huge contingent of generals and admirals based at the Pentagon who made no secret of the fact that they didn’t accept President Trump as their Commander-in-Chief and did everything in their power to get him removed from office by any means possible.

Finally, now that we know for certain that the spooks at the NSA have been reading Tucker Carlson’s email and sharing the contents with their allies in the media, we should keep such things in mind when asking ourselves why certain politicians, definitely including Republicans, say the things they say and vote the way they vote.

The miracle I referred to is that in spite of the endless lies and shameless slandering of men and women superior to themselves by those on the Left, so many ordinary Americans have remained immune to the disinformation campaign. Perhaps not so ordinary, after all.

Speaking of whistleblowers, it should be noted that two of them, Edward Snowden, who shared secrets that the NSA wanted to keep hidden, and Julian Assange, who let the world know about some of the dirty tricks carried out by Hillary Clinton and the DNC, including the phony Russian dossier they bought and paid for, had to flee the U.S. before these creatures who can get back at you six ways from Sunday could turn them into full-fledged martyrs.

It wasn’t that long ago that Time magazine actually referred to whistleblowers as heroes, even once naming them People of the Year, but those were liberals snitching on conservatives.

These days, if you blow a whistle on a Leftist, you better be prepared to live out the remainder of your life as a fugitive or a political prisoner.

Bob Hunt shared a couple of memes that had come his way. The message in the first was: “If you have to hide the curriculum from the parents of your students, you don’t belong in a classroom or in close proximity to anyone’s kids.”

The second is a photo of Jewish kids in those striped pajamas the Nazis favored standing behind a barbed wire fence. The caption: “They were victims of Critical Race Theory.”

In the face of such inhumanity, it’s good to be reminded by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross that “People are like stained glass windows: they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within.”

An anonymous source let me know that “Someone’s grandma once said, ‘Sometimes you have to hug the people you don’t like just so you know how big to dig the hole in your backyard.’”

Michael Knowles, the wise but cynical author of “Speechless,” defined the major difference between a conservative pessimist and a conservative optimist, explaining that the pessimist will look around and say, “Things can’t get any worse” and the optimist will say “Oh, yes, they can.”
