The Patriot Post® · Celebrate Life
This Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade. From 1776 to 1973, everyone knew there was no right to abortion, no right to destroy innocent babies, in our Constitution.
But the Supreme Court invented that right 50 years ago, and the pro-life movement tirelessly fought against that lie for 50 years. Finally, after three appointments by President Donald Trump, the Supreme Court corrected that terrible lie on June 24, 2022.
The court’s majority declared that decisions about abortion were best left to the people and their elected representatives, not unelected judges. And because of the Dobbs decision, an estimated 60,000 babies have been saved.
The Biden/Harris White House, however, isn’t celebrating. They are vowing to do everything they can to restore abortion on demand. They are hosting a series of pro-abortion events all week, including a joint event this Friday featuring the three largest pro-abortion groups.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are running for reelection on a stack of dead babies! Think about that. The left’s obsession with either dead children or mutilated children is macabre. That’s just who they are.
But who are we? The reason I ask is because every church in America should be celebrating this Sunday.
Every church that believes in the God who commanded us to “Choose life so that you and your descendants may live” should celebrate the removal of child sacrifice from our Constitution.
Just like slavery, abortion is based on the same flawed idea that some human beings have no rights we are obligated to respect. The Supreme Court got it wrong in Dred Scott and it was wrong again in Roe v. Wade.
Too many churches were silent one year ago when the Dobbs decision was announced. They can correct that this Sunday by celebrating life as God commanded. There is still time. Urge your pastor to celebrate life from the pulpit this Sunday!
The Double Standard
Once again, our Republic has been damaged by the double standard of justice that was on full display Tuesday with Hunter Biden’s pathetic plea deal. There are clearly two standards of justice — one for the left and one for the right.
Kash Patel, a former federal public defender and attorney for the Justice Department’s National Security Division, said Tuesday that the average sentence for drug-related gun offenses, like the one Hunter was charged with, is 3-to-5 years in prison.
The only mitigating circumstance, Patel noted, is if the individual is “currently a drug addict.” Is that what the Bidens are admitting? Is that what the U.S. attorney was suggesting by letting Hunter off the hook with no prison time?
Some commentators are saying, “Let’s not jump to conclusions. The U.S. attorney said the investigation is ongoing.” That phrase is a “get out of jail free card” for Christopher Wray and the FBI.
Every attempt by Republican investigators to force the FBI to cough up information will be stonewalled because the FBI will insist that it can’t provide anything because “there is an ongoing investigation.” In other words, it’s all part of the fix.
A Disturbing Observation
On the very day that news of this predictable but outrageous plea deal broke, the FBI finally delivered to the House Oversight Committee two documents that Chairman James Comer had been demanding for some time.
But a frustrated Comer noted that the documents were “55% to 60% redacted” and “a total waste of my time.” In addition, they failed to produce a report from 2018 that he demanded to see.
Now, here’s an observation I’d prefer not to make, but I must comment on it.
We’re now in the third year of Joe Biden’s presidency and seven years after the FBI launched an investigation of the Trump campaign and Trump’s presidency on false pretenses. And the FBI is still refusing to comply with basic oversight requests, mainly because the Democrats and their media allies are covering for their corruption!
At the same time the FBI is refusing to cooperate, the weaponized Justice Department has indicted the leading political opponent of the incumbent president and while his son becomes the latest beneficiary of the left’s double standard of justice.
In previous years, we would immediately condemn such obvious corruption in any other nation as “Third World authoritarianism.”
And yet in the middle of this disgusting situation, 20 Republicans could not bring themselves to censure Adam Schiff for his repeated lies and smears about “Russian collusion,” while Democrats circled the wagons and defended him.
Fortunately, those Republicans got a chance yesterday to correct that mistake.
Biden Strikes Again
Joe Biden has spent the last two weeks shamelessly kowtowing to communist China and groveling before Chairman Xi Jinping.
Biden made excuses for communist China, saying their spy balloon was “unintentional.” He sent his top diplomat, Secretary of State Blinken, to beg Xi to reopen lines of communication between our militaries. Xi refused.
But Tuesday night, Joe Biden went to a big fundraising event. Behind closed doors, the “Big Guy” wanted to show off and talk tough. He told his big donor buddies that he shot down that balloon and “greatly embarrassed” Xi. Biden then suggested that Xi, whom he described as a “dictator,” didn’t know anything about the balloon.
Well, Biden just blew up whatever “progress” Blinken’s Beijing visit supposedly accomplished in thawing U.S./China relations.
Mao Ning, a spokeswoman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, blasted Biden’s comments as “ridiculously absurd and irresponsible,” and she was just getting started.
“It is a grave disregard for basic facts, a serious breach of diplomatic protocol, a serious violation of China’s political dignity and [an] open political provocation,” she said. “China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition.”
So, we suffered through weeks of public humiliation with Biden undermining every goal we have to project strength and shore up our allies. And then he tries to put on a “tough guy” act in private when he thinks no one can see it. But it gets leaked and totally backfires.
Trust me, Chairman Xi isn’t “embarrassed” by his spy balloon flying across our country and over our nuclear missile bases. What’s really embarrassing is our feckless president who allowed it to happen!
The Durham Hearing
Special Counsel John Durham testified before the House Judiciary Committee yesterday regarding his investigation of the FBI’s illegal spying on the Trump campaign and Trump presidency. It was an extremely informative hearing that should result in major structural reforms and a total reorganization of the Bureau.
Durham noted that current and former FBI agents have apologized to him for the way the Crossfire Hurricane investigation was conducted.
He noted that the FBI ignored intelligence from the CIA that the “Russia collusion” story was nothing more than a hoax from the Hillary Clinton campaign.
Durham said that when he showed this intelligence to the first supervisory agent on the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, he “immediately became emotional, got up and left the room.”
Why? Because he had never seen that intelligence before.
In other words, this agent was lied to and deceived by his superiors — former FBI Director James Comey and Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
There was one particular moment of drama at yesterday’s hearing when Rep. Steven Cohen (D-TN) attempted to smear Durham’s reputation. Durham shot back:
“My concern about my reputation is with the people who I respect, and my family and my Lord. I’m perfectly comfortable with my reputation with them, sir.”
It is important to remember that before the Durham report, there were multiple damning reports from Inspector General Michael Horowitz about gross abuses at the FBI.
There’s a lot of heated rhetoric from the left about “threats to democracy.” But nothing threatens our democracy (the authority of the people) and our constitutional Republic more than politicized and weaponized law enforcement and double standards of justice.
Something To Celebrate
We’re more than half way through “Pride Month,” and I must confess — I feel like celebrating! Read more in my latest column at The Stream.
