The Supreme Court just overturned the opinions of two lower courts and said a law-enforcement officer who had a hunch did not violate a man’s Fourth Amendment rights when he stopped his car without “reasonable suspicion” of lawbreaking. Conservative Associate Justice Clarence Thomas wrote the opinion for the 8-1 majority, with only Liberal Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor in dissent.
