Former President Barack Obama spoke out against the “defund the police” slogan but not necessarily the movement itself. During an interview with Hamby of Vanity Fair, Obama said that Democrats should avoid snappy slogans like “defund the police” because of how quickly they turn people off. At the same time, Obama has shown interest in some of the core tenets of the aforementioned movement.
