Our AI Policy
Our editorial policy is simple: The Patriot Post is written, edited, and accountable to human judgment — not machines. We use emerging tools where they help us better serve readers, but we will not outsource our editorial voice, constitutional analysis, or moral responsibility to artificial intelligence. Our AI policy is therefore built to do three things: protect editorial integrity, preserve strategic flexibility, and make our practices clear to readers.
The short version
- The Patriot Post's reporting, analysis, and commentary are human-authored.
- We do not use AI to generate our opinion content or to make editorial decisions.
- When we use AI-assisted tools (for research, transcription, accessibility, or production), they operate under human oversight, and editors remain fully responsible for the result.
- If we ever publish AI-generated or synthetic material for explanatory purposes, we will clearly label it as such.
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update this statement and explain what changed and why.
Human-authored journalism
Our core product is editorial judgment, not technology. The Patriot Post's analysis, digests, and commentary are written and vetted by named editors committed to Gospel principles and America's founding documents. We do not use AI systems to draft our editorials, columns, or news analysis, nor do we ask AI models to decide which stories "matter" or how they should be framed.
When AI itself is the subject of coverage (for example, examining what a model produces or how a system behaves) we may reproduce AI output as an object of analysis, just as we would quote a document or transcript. In those cases, we will set that material apart visually and disclose, near the content, that it was generated by an AI system and is being cited for demonstration, not as our own voice.
AI-powered tools may assist with editing tasks, including grammar checks, style suggestions, or structural feedback, but they may only recommend changes; human editors decide what is published.
Research, sources, and verification
Reporters and editors may use vetted AI tools to help navigate dense material — large document sets, legislative text, datasets, or background research — when this improves speed and thoroughness. Even then, AI output is treated as a pointer, not a source. Everything we publish must be verified against primary documents, transcripts, and named sources.
When we attribute a statement or position to a person or institution, that attribution is grounded in direct engagement: interviews, official documents, public statements, or other material reviewed by the author. We do not use AI to fabricate, clean up, or "upgrade" quotes, nor to synthesize text that is then presented as the words or settled views of a named source.
We do not publish claims based solely on AI-generated summaries, and no one at The Patriot Post may represent a document or dataset as "reviewed" unless they have personally examined it. Any staffer who uses AI tools in the course of reporting must disclose that use to their editor, and authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of their work.
Images, audio, and video
Our visual and multimedia work (listing images, illustrations, and video) exists to support serious editorial content, not to blur the line between reality and fabrication. Our creative team may use AI-assisted tools in the production process where they function like any other software (for example, to ideate layouts, refine color, or automate routine tasks), but the creative direction and editorial decisions remain human.
We do not present AI-generated images, audio, or video as authentic documentation of real events. We do not alter documentary media in ways that materially change their meaning or misrepresent reality; standard production work (cropping, color correction, exposure and contrast adjustments, compression) is acceptable.
When we use synthetic media in order to report on AI itself (or to illustrate what such systems can do), we will clearly label it as AI-generated and place that disclosure as close to the material as possible.
Accountability and future changes
No tool, AI or otherwise, diminishes personal responsibility. Any Patriot Post staff member who uses AI-assisted tools is accountable for the resulting work; that responsibility cannot be shifted to colleagues, vendors, or the tools themselves. Maintaining these standards is a shared obligation across our editorial operation, not a box-checking exercise for compliance.
We also recognize that AI is rapidly becoming part of basic infrastructure in email, security, hosting, and analytics. Our commitment is to maintain human control over editorial content and to ensure transparent disclosure when AI-assisted tools touch what you read, see, or hear from us.
