Great News for 2010

· Thursday, January 7, 2010

"All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of superintending providence in our favor. ... Have we now forgotten that powerful Friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need His assistance? I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth -- that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the Ground without His notice, is it probable that an Empire can rise without his Aid?" --Benjamin Franklin

I have been asked on occasion what most defines the difference between conservatives and liberals. There are, of course, many clear delineations between our diametrically opposed philosophies, but there is one that is defining.

Conservatives, The Patriot variety, serve a higher calling -- First Principles -- a calling superior to their own self-interest -- with the objective of enhancing individual and national liberty for the benefit of all.

Ideological liberals, on the other hand, no matter what the cause, tend to be motivated by pathological egocentrism, which generally correlates with the acquisition of power and the suppression of liberty.

The opposition between these competing philosophies is an expression of the light and dark sides of humanity. The struggle between liberty and tyranny is as old as mankind, and though our nation was founded on constitutional Rule of Law -- republican government in support of liberty -- the assault on freedom has been constant since our founding.

However, while this attack is more vigorous today than at anytime in our history, liberty will prevail.

Here, I give you just one small example of why I know that liberty, the Light, the Truth, will trump the darkness of tyranny.

Every year since we launched PatriotPost.US as a touchstone for Patriots across the nation, we have had significant growth over the previous year, both in readership and revenue, which has ensured our growth in successive years.

We are chartered as a "for profit" business (so we can exercise our First Amendment rights without IRS permission) but are donor based, and like most other public interest organizations, we raise most of our operating revenue within the last two months of each year. Needless to say, this highly irregular business model causes some heartburn for our bankers, accountants and legal team -- not to mention your executive editor.

In 2008, as we were ramping up our year-end fundraising campaign, economic collapse coincided with the election of über-Leftist Barack Hussein Obama, though that may have been no coincidence. I prepared to make the necessary cuts to scale our operation to what the economy would support. But much to my relief, our readers fully funded our budget (oh me of little faith).

This year, I was even more apprehensive about sustaining our mission, not to mention the modest budgets of our young staff and their families. However, I am pleased to report that, once again, thanks to Patriots across the nation, we met our budget requirements in full. More remarkable is the fact that PatriotShop.US -- all sales proceeds from which support our mission -- experienced a year-over-year sales increase of more than 30 percent.

I deduce three conclusions from these donor and sales results.

First, our readers are not, in the words of Thomas Paine, "summer soldiers and sunshine patriots." You, fellow Patriots, are cut from the same cloth as our Founding Fathers and all American Patriots throughout our history. You do not "shrink from the service of our country" when times are tough.

Second, these results indicate that a broad swath of Americans are taking a much more active stand for liberty, for now that they see its antithesis in the Oval Office and Congress, they have a tangible example of tyranny in action.

Third, concern for the preservation of liberty is so endemic that we received funding from many readers who fall within three groups from which we do not ask support: Military personnel, students and those in the mission field, or who otherwise have limited income. The letters below are representative of many we received from Patriot donors in those groups.

"I have been a reader of The Patriot for 10 years. I know you do not seek support from uniformed Patriots, but as a Marine officer and combat veteran of two wars, one who understands the full implications of my oath to 'support and defend' our Constitution against enemies 'foreign and domestic,' it gives me great pleasure to support the 'Voice of Constitutional Conservatism.'"

"As a student with no income other than what I earn through summer internships, I have a very limited budget. But the value of The Patriot to my education and growth has been incalculable. Consequently, I make my small but sincere contribution. My one regret is that any amount donated to The Patriot will never adequately reflect its worth."

"I just made a donation, even though I was laid off last month and am still unemployed. I receive The Patriot every day and I have been putting off a donation because I didn't think I could afford it. I realize now that I can't afford not to support this beacon of liberty."

"As a retired command fighter pilot with more than 500 hours in combat, I am honored to support the vital work you are doing for our great nation. Every day, I look forward to The Patriot and its inspiration to reaffirm my devotion to our Constitution."

These words speak volumes.

Though we have a long way to go to restore the integrity of our Constitution, we should all take comfort in the fact that America's strength, her Patriot defenders, are standing up and standing firm, and our ranks are growing. Indeed, the time has come.

And the Left is taking note.

Just this week, two senators, a member of the house, a governor and a lieutenant governor, all members of the once noble Democrat Party, announced that they will not seek re-election in 2010.

This is good news, for it is the strongest indication that all the activism this past year is taking its toll. But the great news, the unwavering verity upon which we can all depend in good times and bad, is, in the words of that wise sage Ben Franklin, "God governs in the affairs of men."

This year, and the two that follow, present enormous challenges for all who want to restore Rule of Law. We are mindful of the enduring words of George Washington at the dawn of American liberty: "We should never despair, our Situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better, so I trust, it will again. If new difficulties arise, we must only put forth new Exertions and proportion our Efforts to the exigency of the times."

In 2010, The Patriot will respond to the exigency of our times, in part, by sponsoring the Essential Liberty Project. Clarity of mission and purpose -- First Principles -- are needed now, more than ever.

Let's make this a year to which our posterity will point and say, "They rose in defense of Liberty," a year that overflowed with Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Thanks to all of you for your support and for your steadfast loyalty to our Constitution and Republic. Make peace with no oppression and keep your powder dry!

Thank you and your staff so much for your dedication in bringing the truth to the fore week after week. My heart aches as I see our country struggling to maintain our freedom. The company for which I work is now in a struggle to stay union-free. As i love my country, I love my job. I want them both to make the right decisions for their future. Thank you so much for your continuing service to me and all Americans. God bless you!

Well, let's not pat ourselves on the back just yet. We have a long haul yet and these folks are not going to just roll over and relinquish their power over us easily. For now we need to find true conservatives that can run for office and survive the inevitable character attacks. We need more Sarahs. Perchance we could draft Krauthammer, Sowell, Limbaugh and others. We also should be stockpiling ammo and food and water.

Look for another "crisis" about election time, both in this years cycle and in 2012. You have to remember the current occupants of the white house have NO scruples. They will do whatever they need to to stay in power. Hopefully we can vote the b------s out of office but I would not count on it. May have to revert to Plan B.

Good that these Democrats are not running for reelection, however, they are going to still vote for the Obama Care, Cap & Trade, more spending, more earmarkes, more taxes and increased "fees" charged by the Fed. government. They know that as they do these, they can't get reelected, but they don't care. They have a life-time of benefits, life-time of the best health care that can be provided, all by USA taxpayers! They have nothing to lose and will finally turn this country into a socialist state with great losses of freedom.

I agree that liberty will prevail but not necessarily in our life time or the next generation instead only when the foundation of all rights is again fully honored by Law, politics and economy. The Right to Life is the right we must Correct. Nothing else matters without Life. Too many conservatives (I always thought that an authentic conservative must be a Pro-Lifer), republicans, libertarians etc. do not seem to get this. For decades, the indoctrination of secular thinking has produced many practicing their faith in a secular fashion or even abandoning faith in God. The result - Law without God, Politics without God and Economy without God. We will put up the good fight but the powers of the principalities of darkness are having their time. The good thing is, is that we win in the end but I donot believe it will be in our life time. Only a rejuvenation of a truely virtuous people can elect virtuous politicians and produce virtuous laws and economy.

I am sorry that I could not get past a few paragraphs with out taking exception to your article. I think that the differences between the two groups currently running our government are more basic that you realize. On one hand there is a group that believes in taking care of themselves, that it is their choices that dictate the "luck" or providence that comes into their lives. On the other hand there is a group that believes that others should take care of them and as such delegate their power of choice to others and thier fate to others. It has been since pre time that this struggle between freedom of choice (faith) a predestined existance (fate) have existed. I was once told that a great battle in heaven occured over just these two idealisms, and frankly that is why we need and have a seperation in church and state.

So back to your article.... 30% one side 30% the other adn 40% inbetween. I choose faith and and self rule as did our american forefathers. Some now would choose to be cared for by others delegating thier power. It is not the conservatives (those that would care for themselves) or liberals (those that would care for others) or democrats, socialists or republicans. It is more devious than that. It is the few that want control over both groups that currently lead the evil in this world. And what better way to start than with those that want to be led.

my humble opinion - daniel

Sometimes I think "The Patriot Post" is the only sane voice in the news media out there today. I depend on the Post for the true facts concerning this country's political furture. Thank you for continuing to enlighten and inform.

The two parties, Democrat and Republican are both without recourse on our Republic. They have had 150 years plus or minus to run our country and run it into the ground they have. Yes, there are a few good men/women in the Republican party and without argument they are conservatives and only Republicans for expediency. The Democrats have no high ground when it comes to their members, none, so mentioning any is a waste of time. It is necessary to bury the criminal class from both parties that have gained control of our government and country, with Caesar, now!

Here's to 2010

I read the Post every day and feel it is an extremely valuable source of information. However my concern is that while the Democrat party is crumbling I see no strong leadership or direction from the Republican party. Your comparison of "good" and "evil" is what I have been preaching for months but does that mean being "good" means doing nothing?

Why don't we have a strong leader? We tend to just show the stupid comments of the many Democrate (Janet, Barney, Obama, NANCY (really stupid and third in line) etc. but when are we going to get strong with good and healthy words of our own. We seem just too polite, kind, turn the other cheek, good Christans! I think the good Lord expects us to do something and not just wait sitting on our hands waiting for Him to perform a miricle.

Unfortunately this is how many see it. When are the Republicans going to make some move or will we end up with a 3 way split (Republican, Conservative, Independent) and loose again through no leadership?

Mark, I enjoyed your thoughtful description of the difference between Liberals, Libtards, and Conservatives. While I agree I have another description that has been somewhat successful when talking to my liberal friends. You must keep things simple when talking to Libs, you know like bumper stickers.

Liberals require my resources and loss of my liberty to accomplish their goals. Conservatives demand little from liberals in order to accomplish our goals.

It is really a matter of personal responsibility, or not.

Keep up the good work in 2010.

Congratulations on meeting your funding goal. On Christmas Day I turned 64. On that day I made my first and only resolution for 2010. Despite working almost 50 hours each week, I WILL find some time in my schedule each week between the primaries and the general election to volunteer for the Republican candidate to run against Rep. Brad Miller (D-NC) from the obscenely gerrymandered 13th Congressional district. I challenge everyone to try to donate a couple of hours each week, a day a month, or give a monetary donation. Considering this administration's fast pace to perdition, this mid-term election may be the most important one in history.

It is going to be more common that the Democrat/Liberal crisis builders and seekers will go to Internet groups and forums such as this to subtly leave a few comments here and there to bolster their power. For example, they will say: "The Democrats and Republicans are both evil, we need to get rid of all of them," while ignoring that there are many good Republicans and, and I must be honest to admit this, there are a few good, honest Democrats although they are hard to find on the Washington scene.

The "infiltrators" will promote everyone going to a third party, a write in or some person who seems honest enough to lead the country. No doubt there will indeed be a few who could be good and honest leaders but they have no chance to win in our two-party system of government. What is at play here is that this is designed to fragment and cripple the Republican Party while it is a given that the Democrats will always, always, always vote for the Democrat... In fact, they would vote for a garage broom if it had the Big "D" stamped on the side.

If all the third party types would go for being Republican, since it is obvious they will never be a Democrat, then the Republicans will no doubt win. The "alternate party" people could have made a difference in the last election if they had only spent as much time convincing the Republican Party to modify their platform to be more Conservative and spent their time convincing those who did not vote, for whatever reason, to vote Republican. As for those who whined and complained about McCain, would he not have been swayed by Sarah Palin's followers and would he have been greatly limited on his decision-making if Congress were to take on a Republican majority? Instead of seeing McCain in a positive light, as someone who was against abortion and against closing Gitmo and being more supportive of our military in the Middle East, they simply focused on the negative and, with all their voting for conscience and "to give a message," we get Obama & Company in office. What kind of message is that???

While we are discussing this and that, the Democrats are right now plotting and scheming how to skew the 2010 elections. They are going stealth and depend on our not knowing what mischief they are up to. The Patriot Post and other sister sources are our only avenues of Truth. However, we also must be alert and set our aim to disable the Democrats in their grand schemes.

Republicans are too-often the gentlemen/women in politics. John McCain is such a person when he tries to cross the aisle. The Democrats are not in this mold. They are smiling back-stabbers. They want us to cross the aisle but it is not in their book to do the same. We must be as devious as snakes when we tackle them. We can be different in one way, though, and this is crucial lest it be used against us: We must be always legal in our endeavors. Crime should never be used against crime or we will become a feudal society and this is to be avoided. Our nation must be grounded on good and proper government and this is why we are in the current agony as we see attacks on our Constitution which means an attack on this country's people themselves.

I think the poster is great. However, I feel the difference between conservatives and Liberals or Left vs. right is depicted better in the picture than in the words spoken. After all, it is about those who Love Liberty and understand that the Common Law of Man is the only means of retaining Liberty. On the other hand there are those who have always thought someone owes someone else a living and have no idea the cost of international welfare (socialism/communism).

If we sink the ship that provides the wealth to care for the emergencies that arise, then who will be able to help when such needs present themselves.

Our Government has not protected from the greed of monopolies, and thus, we see all the wealth accumulating in the hands of a few while those who work hard (small businesses) have no chance to compete.

Thanks. I love the poster.

Dear Mr. Alexander, I do so appreciate the Patriot.

Because my Church has great need, I am contributing rather more than what would be considered adequate and am managing on Social Security to handle most of the expenses of a Senior Citizen. My ancestors in this Country go back, I'm told, to a devout Puritan Elder who came with his wife and others about 10 years after the Mayflower. So entering my 10th Decade tomorrow, I pray daily for this beloved Country. Gld bless you, and God Bless America!

Jan. 7,2001 -- I read Mark Alexander's essay on the difference between liberlism and conservatism. The three letters from people with limited incomes who donated anyway compelled me to get off my duff and make a donation. The people of this country were given a wonderful gift by the founders of America at great sacifice. It is a precious gift, and we should fight to keep its exceptional nature. I am very concerned about the direction of this country under the current administration and Congress and will go down fighting. Americans instinctively believe in freedom. Freedom will trimph over tyranny.

America is in trouble, a mess that was caused by starry-eyed loonies who fell in love with a "rock star" with no more qualifications to be president than to be king of the world. The difference between right and wrong is the difference between God and Satan. There are only two choices -heaven or hell- there is no middle ground, and everyone who is not bound for one is headed for the other. There is no good luck, bad luck or coincidence: one either deserves a thing or does not. And as far as separation of "church and State" is concerned, I have a brand-new $100.00 bill for the first person who can show me an authentic copy of the United States Constitution bearing those words! But don't bother looking: they ain't in there! However, if you look in another Constitution, one dated in 1917, you will find those words... in the Constitution of the United Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR), the old Soviet Union! Find a copy:it's in there. But not in America's Constitution!

Alexander,

Once more a wonderful essay! I always love to open and read your offerings. They are full of God's love and love for our beautiful country-that is a winning combination! I am not a bit surprised that you continue to meet your financial goals. Your quest is explicitly honorable in the midst of so much evil. I am also glad that you are so optimistic about us being able to turn back the horrors that are currently being perpetrated upon this once-great country in Washington, D.C. You have a stronger faith in our power than I do.

I have written, emailed, called, faxed, and protested at TEA Parties, all seemingly to no avail. I have contacted our leaders in the swamp (Washington) and told them that they HAVE to be our voices since no one is listening to us out here in America. I can only hope that they will grow a backbone and begin to push back on health care reform (and everything else!) instead of just trying to add amendments.

God bless you and your wonderful organization and godspeed!

Happy New Year to all of you and your families as I keep you in prayer for 2010 and all the years to come. I am blessed immeasurably by the work you do and the service you provide to present His Truth in all that you write.

I was unable to contribute at mid-year 2009, so I doubled up my contribution at the end of the year when my wallet was a little thicker. I simply cannot afford to not afford you! You always make my day.

I just received my new Patriot Sweatshirt and 100 of your wonderful bookmarks, as I usually have at least a dozen books going at once, and I like to have some bookmarks for friends. The sweatshirt works very well with my Air Force Retired ball cap, and it helps keep me warm here in Colorado.

Please keep doing what you're doing.

There are Biblical references to what we see around us today. Let's explore a few.

Let's look at "Change" a moment. We see Obama & Company removing our traditional mainstays as fast as they can merely to have "change for change's sake."

Some remove the landmarks;.... Job 24:2

They interfere with the natural family way of childbirth and want to interfere with it even before birth.

They pluck the fatherless from the breast, .... Job 24:9

They choose willful ignorance, do not acknowledge Supreme Authority.

They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. Job 24:13

In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light. Job 24:16

Liberals who want to see the good in what is obviously bad and see the bad in what is obviously good are those who want change, change, change. Woe be unto them.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Isa 5:20

Yes, there is a precedent for all the Left's madness. It is called Ungodliness. The Bible tells me so!

We need to have an illustration that we can flood Washington with to help them get the picture that we are ready to take up arms to defend this liberty. Perhaps is we flood them with images of the Boston tea party they would get the idea that we are not going to stand for taxation (Health Care Robbery) without representation. The secret meetings are exactly that. I wish I had a way to shut down all tax withholding for a period of time to send them a message that I will not tolerate this atrocity.

The challenge before America Patriots today is daunting, but as Mark Alexander says, we can and will prevail.

Over the past sixty years or more, political factions that hold our Constitution, the free enterprise system and our traditional values in contempt have methodically taken control of virtually every societal institution that is critical to the formulation of public opinion and policy. The problem (for them) is American Patriots now know it and we won't stand for it.

We need to start by sweeping Washington clean. Yes, there will be some friendly fire casualties, but we need to send a message loud and clear all of them - "You effectively represent the will and interests of the people within the bounds of the Constitution, or you go home."

The U. S. Constitution

Article IV

Section 4

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

I wasn't born in a socialist country. I won't voluntarily live in a socialist country. And I won't stand by and allow anyone to make my country into a socialist country. The U. S. Constitution is the contract between the people and their government. It is the sole source of authority for ANYONE in Washington, D. C. to infringe on my life. If they choose, as they apparently have, to ignore and outright violate the Constitution, neither I nor my State is under any obligation to attend them.

I think EVERYONE in Washington, D. C. need to go home permanently and find out what it means to have to make a living under the oppression they have created!

I pray for their return to the Lord first, and return to what they know to be truth second, since that's what Jesus came to tell us anyway (see John 18)

Thanks for your continued work, and do NOT be weary in well doing!

It is my misfortune that I discovered Patriot Post only in mid 2009. While I am retired (in my "twilight" years-at least according to the majority of the slightly younger congresspersons), I am vigorous physically and intellectually and will support our First Principles, even to the steps of Congress in open rebellion. Thank you, Mark and your wonderful staff. Keep the beacon burning - we're coming!

When you get right down to it, liberals and conservatives both draw a line as to what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. What falls in between each side's line is the source of arguement and what falls outside is usually agreed upon by both sides.

Take an extremely controversial issue. Then take something so heinous it is absurd to think about. Then take something so universally acceptable you wouldn't even think about it:

- abortion, - child pornography, - right to vote

It is amazing that it is so simple, yet we spend so much effort arguing.

I am a fourth term Mayor in MI. I served in the National Guard for 21 years and my son spend a year in Iraq. My wife, Kelly, told me I had to join this Web Site. She was right! I belive what you're writing about and I am so happy that there are other people who believe in the issues like I do. Thank you Patriot Post! I am now a fan!!

I have supported the Patriot Post for several years. I am a retired federal employee. I receive regular mailings from the Republican National Committee asking for donations. I look at what our grand old party has done for America in the past few years and compare that to the Patriot Post and have no doubts where my donations go. You and your staff of patriots do more in one year for our country than any other conservative cause I know. Keep up the great work and don't worry again about getting enough money to keep the Patriot Post alive!

I also receive regular mailings from the RNC asking for donations. The request is sent back in the postage paid envelope stating no more money until you stop endorsing RINO's and throw out of the party make believe conservatives such as Bush, McCain, Gingrich, Lindsey Graham, Romney, etc. Also if I hear the term Big Tent party one more time I will return the envelope filled with puke. It is all I can do to not puke.

In keeping Luke 16:10 in perspective..."He that is faithful in the which is least is faithful in much also; and he that is unjust in the least is unjust in much also."

We must learn to stand faithful in that which is least (U.S. Constitution) so we can be faithful in much (God's Word). Just as I share about God's Sonship Rights, I also share about our legal rights as U.S. Citizens. "In God We Trust" and not "Gov't We Trust". I believe our founding fathers were so determined to set up a new government on biblical principles, they set up a check and balance via the U.S. Constitution. As believers, we will continue to pray that the U.S. Constitution stays intact and we will continue to Go, Stand, and Speak about the "much" and "least".

Dear Mark Alexander,

Your PatriotPost is unbelievably honest, true and has to be blessed of God.

To know that "God is in control when most invisible" is proven in your stance and your victory for our wonderful PatriotPost.

If I had no other publications or political radio/tv to hear/read, I'd be satisfied knowing the best is right here!

THANK YOU!

Spirit of '76

Mindful article, once again!

May the 'Framers' look down upon all Patriots, and guide us through the words, the smoke, and the field.

And in this new world, may we be able to scribe the verse on evils' epitaph; Leviticus 26:36

"United We stand, Divided We Fall!"

John McClain

As a retired Marine, a Sovereign Citizen, and a man with genuine concern for posterity, those who have not even been conceived yet, I feel it is my solemn duty to ensure the whole and true meaning of our Constitution and the form of government, under law, is taught and spread as widely as can possibly be accomplished, it is the least I can do, to ensure that we regain the Nation we once were, and return to being a Constitutional guarded confederated Republic. I only wish I had more to give, and could do more to reach more Citizens, who need reminding of the value of Citizen Sovereignty, most of which is lost and forgotten.

Sincerely,

John McClain

I am a mom of five children, three having disabilities and one of those being on chemo for four years. While my resources are very limited, I felt it important to donate this year to the Patriot because of the efforts made by your organization to protect our rights and liberties from the increasing onslaught of socialist liberals currently holding sway in our government. I am not able to work due to caring for my three youngest children and the demands of taking them to their multiple and myriad appointments. We spend many hours in discussion about our country, its founding, and the future course we would wish it to go. Thank you for the materials provided to me daily to encourage me and inspire me in these discussions. While future generations will take up our tasks someday, I pray that our nation will remain one dedicated to individual freedom and liberty, that it will be able to remain the sovereign nation it was established to be and that it will continue to be a refuge for those seeking sanctuary from oppression, all the while remaining true to the values of its founders. Thank you all for your service to our country and its citizens.

Mr. Alexander:

While I am in agreement with the vast majority of your writing, I do not share your belief in God. Unlike liberal atheists, however, I haven't replaced a theist belief with the idea that I, the government or the President is god or god-like. Instead, I believe each individual should have the right and opportunity to direct his or her own life without undue government intrusion, and that we have no right to expect that our children, grandchildren or the Red Chinese should finance our excessive government spending. I'm glad to hear that you were able to meet your financial goals and glad that I have had a hand in financing your efforts for the past few years. Best wishes for a great 2010.

I appreciate you so much - after all the "stuff" on the news, reading your messages is really a breath of fresh air. Have you seen the new gold (color) one dollar piece? It does not have "In God We Trust" on it, except on the edge of the coin where is is unnoticable and unreadable without a great deal of trouble-and I assume, so it can be quietly removed with no one the wiser. Who do I complain to - who do we send our objections too? I'm really steamed about this. Thanks for being there! AW

I absolutely cheered over the "pathological egocentrism" comment re. the motivation of liberals. For 19 years, I struggled to make the point to economics students that the wisdom and glory of the market is that all of us get to input our data vis-a-vis our wants and needs. The Left, on the other hand, assumes that we need to be led toward some set of "enlightened" and "progressive" goals that conflict, in some fundamental way, with our own self-interests. If we've learned anything from 70+ years of the dead Soviet example and 50+ of the Euro-socialist model, it's that intentions don't matter! Lincoln (if the attribution is correct) said it best, regarding limitations on liberty: "When it comes to this, I shall prefer emigrating to some country where they make no

pretense of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy."

Steven Robinson

A TALE OF TWO REVOLUTIONS

The American Revolution was the most remarkable in human history because it embraced respect for, and the rights of the individual. First, these unalienable rights are endowed, like a birthright, by our Creator. This means that he considers us his children and gives us the absolutely most precious gifts... Life Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness (originally this third gift was Property. More on that later). To secure (make certain) these rights governments are instituted among men. These concepts were absolutely revolutionary at that time.

By contrast, here was a prevailing that had dominated history, that was, the divine right of kings, where the subjects basically existed for the benefit of the throne. There was another revolution in opposition to that concept but it was just as devastating to people. That was the French Revolution in 1789.

The French Revolution was also about rebelling against a tyrannical ruler. However the dominating philosophy in this "Age of Enlightenment" was most certainly not Creator-children Christianity. It was considered the age of reason, Voltaire and Rousseau were it's forefathers. Rousseau minimized the worth of the individual in favor of the group. He called it "general will" of the people. The welfare of the group superceded the value of any individual member of the group.

The leaders of the French Revolution, not much more than a motley mob embraced Rousseau's concept (as did the communist movement 50 years later) of intrinsic value of the group vs. the individual. People were called 'citizens' (re: comrade!?) and if the group was better off by taking your wealth, then so be it. If you were considered dangerous because you did not endorse their ideals, the group was better off without you, and you were killed.

Instead of rights from our creator, the 'Declaration of the Rights of Man' stated that all rights were granted by the 'state'. Hence what the 'state' granted, it could take away, including your life, as stated above. In fact they were killing off so many people they invented a tool expedite the process: the guillotine! Yes, it was invented to get rid of 'undesirables'. Very reminiscent of Stalin's or Mao's purge of 20 to 50 million people last century.

This exactly the battle we face today. Conservatives, whether they believe in God or not, embrace the principles that we have these unalienable (divinely granted) rights. I wonder though, how can anyone support this concept without believing in a creator? But, I digress.

Liberals, Progressives, Marxists, Socialists, all basically the same, all embrace the principle of the general will, or the group as supreme and individual rights are subjugated to the general welfare.

The examples of this ideal are legion (like the demons in Hell!) The first that comes to mind is Hillary Clinton's book, "It takes a Village" which denigrates the value of the nuclear family, which is the bedrock of civilization. The Communist Manifesto also sought to destroy the family unit, calling it a capitalist tool, where wives and children are the bourgious husbands vassals for economic benefit and nothing more. In fact, the whole free love movement is rooted in the Marx's short work (32 pages, read it!)

So this is where the battle lies. Now understand this, this latter, godless philosophy embraces concepts like 'The ends justifies the Means. Hence they can use words and phrases of a common understanding but totally different in meaning. Lying to you, while accusing your opponent of lying is perfectly acceptable. Attempting to destroy your opponent, like the vicious attacks on Sarah Palin are perfect OK. Since they have no god to account to, they make their own morality, in order to achieve their objectives. Conservatives rightly condemn and shame their wrongdoers; while these progressives (statists) proudly protect and promote theirs, defending their actions. They have no moral value system to prevent them from achieving their goals, while falsely accusing their opponent (enemies that MUST be destroy, in their opinion).

So now it is time for the Second American Revolution, to restore the values our Republic was founded on and our fathers fought and died for. I believe that, because of our Declaration of Independence and Constitution we can win the battle peacefully.

Just a not to send a big thank you to Mark Alexander and the staff at the Patriot Post. I am a firm believer in the Republic and am grateful to have found a daily posting that supports my belief in this great nation. May we triumph against the forces of evil that seek to destroy our Constitution and very way of life. I find happiness in upholding our Constitution and praying daily for God to bless us in our struggle. Thank you so much for being part of that great struggle and for your daily words of encouragement. May God bless you all.

"The American Revolution was the most remarkable in human history because it embraced respect for, and the rights of the individual."

I completely agree -- provided that the word, "individual", be redefined to exclude the indigenous population of North America.

Comparable redefinitions are likewise warranted in order for substantial portions of what follow to ring true.

Anne D. Wilson writes: "Have you seen the new gold (color) one dollar piece? It does not have "In God We Trust" on it, except on the edge of the coin where is is unnoticable and unreadable without a great deal of trouble-and I assume, so it can be quietly removed with no one the wiser. Who do I complain to . . .?"

I completely agree! The godless founding fathers outraged our Lord and God by refusing to put "In God We Trust" on U.S. coins. "In God We Trust" did not appear on U.S. coins until 1865 -- almost 90 years AFTER America was established! This just goes to show that for 90 years, the U.S. government was being run by a bunch of people who didn't believe that "God" should appear on money! This makes me so mad! Thankfully, in 1837 Congress responded to a letter-writing campaign and effectuated the "general will" of the group of Americans who wanted "In God We Trust" on money -- thus, subjugating the individual rights of people who, like the Founding Fathers, didn't want their money to bear that motto.

Oh well, I guess all's well that ends well. As Conservative Jurists William Rhenquist and Sandra O'Connor agreed in Lynch v. Donelly, 465 U.S. 668 (1984): "In God We Trust" has "lost through rote repetition any significant religious content."

Nothing like putting "God" on things so crass and ordinary as money to reduce the respectability, sanctity and holiness of the concept. And for this, we're supposed to be thankful?? Go figure.

One correction should be noted. The picture of the marijuana leaf in "Left" side of the picture above is misleading. From the birth of America, marijuana was perfectly legal to grow, own, use, buy, sell, etc. This was long before Karl Marx, Hitler, Stalin, and hippies.

There is evidence supporting the conclusion that some of the Founding Fathers smoked marijuana. Dr. Burke, president of the American Historical Reference Society and a consultant for the Smithsonian Institute, counted seven early presidents as cannabis smokers: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, Zachary Taylor and Franklin Pierce. "Early letters from our founding fathers refer to the pleasures of hemp smoking," said Burke. Pierce, Taylor and Jackson, all military men, smoked it with their troops. Cannabis was twice as popular among American soldiers in the Mexican War as in Vietnam: Pierce wrote to his family that it was "about the only good thing" about that war.

Additionally, marijuana was not made illegal until the 1930s -- nearly 160 years AFTER the birth of the Republic.

So, it is somewhat misleading to suggest anything "leftist" about marijuana -- unless you mean to suggest that the Founding Fathers were leftists.

Just read the report that said you are receiving support to maintain and continue with your research and publications. I am so thankful for that news. It is a sign of the quiet, fervent love of the founding principles of our blessed nation. For the past year I have had to step back from the news about the affairs of our nation and turn my efforts and concerns to praying for our nation and its people. I find most of the current governmental news coverage just creates fear and dread for me. I am encouraged by your news.

Thank You
