State of the Union: Obama v. Constitution
· Thursday, January 28, 2010
"The duty imposed upon him to take care, that the laws be faithfully executed, follows out the strong injunctions of his oath of office, that he will 'preserve, protect, and defend the constitution.' The great object of the executive department is to accomplish this purpose; and without it, be the form of government whatever it may, it will be utterly worthless for offence, or defence; for the redress of grievances, or the protection of rights; for the happiness, or good order, or safety of the people." --Justice Joseph Story
The ObamaPrompterIn the wake of Barack Hussein Obama's first State of the Union address, much of the critical analysis from Republicans posited that he should do "this" instead of "that."
Unfortunately, when there is no more constitutional authority for a president to do this rather than that, Republicans fail to distinguish themselves from Democrats since both parties are then advocating unlawful extra-constitutional policies.
Obama's SOTU teleprompters fed him a steady stream of poll-tested rhetoric, none of which comports with the authority granted the Executive Branch, unless, of course, one subscribes to the adulterated "living constitution" as amended by judicial diktat.
Predictably, Obama offered only Socialist solutions to all ills, and not a single suggestion that individual responsibility or the private sector economy should shoulder that burden, at least not without government "incentives," a.k.a. centralized social and economic planning.
In 7,400 words (second longest SOTU after Bill Clinton -- two narcissists who just can't hear enough of themselves), Obama referred to himself repeatedly, and alleged that he was the anointed spokesman for "we," the American people, more than 100 times.
On the other hand, he mentioned the Constitution only twice.
First, in his opening remarks Obama said, "Our Constitution declares that from time to time the president shall give to Congress information about the state of our union."
Correct.
Second, he asserted, "We find unity in our incredible diversity, drawing on the promise enshrined in our Constitution, the notion that we're all created equal..."
FAIL! That "notion" was enshrined in our Declaration of Independence, third paragraph, first sentence. One would think that this alleged expert on "Constitutional Law" would know better.
Our Constitution is devoted to clearly delineating the limited role of the central government from the unlimited rights of the states and the people.
To that end, James Madison, author of our Constitution, wrote, "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite."
Accordingly, Obama mentions freedom only once, and made absolutely no reference to liberty.
Nowhere in our Constitution is there any authority or provision for these key proposals from Obama's SOTU:
1. The power to further centralize regulation of our economy.
2. The power to completely regulate our national health care system. Obama even repeated his claim that the American people are just not smart enough to get on board: "I take my share of the blame for not explaining it more clearly to the American people."
3. The power to further regulate and tax the production of CO2.
Obama reiterated his claims that the current recession was caused by "Wall Street," and then went on to insist that the only hope for ending the recession was government "investment," a euphemism for taxing money out of the private sector, taking bureaucratic handling fees out, then giving it to political constituencies.
To correctly interpret Obama's SOTU, you need only filter everything he says through his foremost pledge that the his administration's charge is the "fundamental transformation of the United States of America."
That is a line Obama lifted from the primary architect of his Socialist platform, Robert Creamer, who had earlier proclaimed, "If Barack Obama is elected president, then we have the opportunity to fundamentally transform American politics and the economy."
It's likely that you've never heard of Bob Creamer, because Barack Obama is very adept at concealing his association with his Marxist patrons.
In his younger days, Obama was not concerned about such associations: "I chose my friends carefully," he wrote. "The more politically active black students; the foreign students; the Chicanos; the Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets."
But when he announced his aspirations to become a U.S. senator in 2004, Obama began to cover his tracks. He stopped associating publicly with Leftist colleagues and mentors such as Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger, William Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Khalid al-Mansour, Rashid Khalidi, Bob Creamer and others.
Creamer is a member of Obama's Chicago mob, a fellow "community organizer" and disciple of Saul Alinsky. Like all of Obama's Chicago benefactors, Creamer believes that he is above the law, or, more appropriately, that he is the law in today's age of the rule of men. But like Tony Rezko, another of Obama's slick Chicago political backers, Creamer was caught with his hand in the till and was convicted of a felony (bank fraud) back in 2004 when Obama was a state senator. Creamer got a softball sentence, though: five months in a minimum-security facility for white-collar criminals and another 11 months of house arrest.
With all that time on his hands, Creamer authored a book, "How Progressives Can Win," which, along with Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals," serves as the template for Obama's campaign to "fundamentally transform" America.
Obama didn't use the word "transform" in his SOTU, but he did insist that government must "lay a new foundation for long-term economic growth," under the pretense of "reform," in order to "give our people the government they deserve."
"I campaigned on the promise of change, change we can believe in. I know there are many Americans who aren't sure if they still believe that I can deliver it. I never suggested that change would be easy ... and when you try to do big things and make big changes, it stirs passions and controversy."
And well, it should.
Though Obama's efforts to nationalize the nation's health care sector have been temporarily stalled, he has no intention of giving up, announcing that he is redoubling his efforts to expand central government controls over the private sector under cover of "economic crisis." As White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said, "Never let a good crisis go to waste."
Leading up to his SOTU, Obama endeavored to portray himself as a fiscal conservative: "We can't continue to spend as if deficits don't have consequences, as if waste doesn't matter, as if the hard earned tax dollars of the American people can be treated like monopoly money, that's what we've seen time and time again, Washington has become more concerned about the next election than the next generation."
This is subterfuge.
Obama endeavors to portray himself as a constitutional conservative: "We will lead in the observance of ... the rule of law. ... Don't mock the Constitution. Don't make fun of it. Don't suggest that it's not American to abide by what the Founding Fathers set up. It's worked pretty well for over 200 years."
This is deception.
Obama endeavors to portray himself as a resolute commander in chief. Regarding Operation Iraqi Freedom he decreed, "Let me say this as plainly as I can: By August 31st, 2010, our combat mission in Iraq will end." On Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, he declared, "After 18 months, our troops will begin to come home." On the treatment of captive terrorists, he says, "I will restore America's moral standing." On the Long War with Jihadistan, Obama claims, "The United States is not, and will never be, at war with Islam."
This is farce.
Obama is a dangerous neophyte in matters of national security, and he shows no signs of improving.
If Republicans really want to defeat Obama's Leftist agenda, they need to adopt the tried and true conservative message founded on Essential Liberty. Only then can they truly take control of the debate.
And while Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell's response to Obama's SOTU address was encouraging, the current crop of Republican leaders continues to play by Democrat rules, attempting to sell a dangerous and debilitating elixir: "We don't offend the Constitution as bad as they do."
Bottom line: Republicans must refocus on First Principles and govern accordingly.
Republicans can best distinguish themselves from Democrats by, first and foremost, honoring their sacred oath to "support and defend" our Constitution.
To that end, Obama declared, "If you abide by the law, you should be protected by it."
True, but on the other hand, if you are not going to abide by the law, you should be impeached.
P.S. If you are going to seat two police officers next to your wife in the gallery, the two who brought down the Ft. Hood jihadi terrorist, you might at least acknowledge them, or invite them to the White House for a beer.

With this speach, Obama has shown true distain for the message of Massachusets, and his ignorance or complete disregard of the will of the people towards his Marxist agenda. He stays true to his unpopular agenda of Health care, Cap and Tax, and spend spend spend. He holds the Constitution in contempt. Time to impeach this anti American Marxist!

I agree with your article. I would add one thing. HE referred to a Five year plan. Isn't that what the former USSR did time and time again until they fell apart? Socialism for socialism sake does not work, and the Russians proved that Communism does not work either. For all who wanted "Hope and Change" hows it working for you now.

Thank you for suffering through that for us Mark. I for one can no longer stomach listening to Mr Obama in doses lasting more than a minute, but am gratified, to know I can trust you, for a succinct accounting and analysis.
It surprised me that I found no better talent for watching the Republican response. It took less than a minute to notice that I was listening to a Governor of 11 days experience (how Obama-like), framed by 4 racially and genderly perfectly PC faces, in a setting designed to mimic that of the SOTUS, being applauded on cue, for a speech ever so slightly less wooden and pretentious than BHO's.
And these are the guys who will save us?
Your call for the Republicans to distinguish themselves is spot on, but CAN they? And what if they simply cannot?

Who is going to impeach Obama, and for what? Not the House of Representatives in this day and age. And a conviction if impeached? Not with the Senate we have. Even substantial changes possible in November will not change those simple facts. Obama is not impeachable because nearly all the Democrats and entirely too many Republicans in Congress agree with most of what he does and wants, and any disagreements do not rise to the level of finding impeachable conduct.

I don't want to be like France, Germany, England or Canada. Nor do the majority of the American people. Being that Obama has not gotten the message and wants to be like these other countries, he may need to re-assess where he currently lives and perhaps apply for citizenship in a country that believes his kind of change.

The Republicans never call the Democrats on their pack of lies. I get so tired of "political correctness" I want the truth! Obama can say whatever he wants to say, it is simply lip service to the people of this country whom he thinks are not intelligent enough to undertand what's going on in Washington. He keeps compaining that he "inherited" this recession. Well, wasn't he in the Senate at the time? Were the Democrats not in control of the House and the Senate since 2004? He inherited nothing, he was part of the problem!Barney Frank, Harry Reid and Chris Dodd and Barack Obama all got money from Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Further, Congress had to bail out AIG because their pensions are held by AIG. They would have lost their retirement as many American's did when Wall Street failed. Congress lives above the laws it passes. Impeach that lying pond scum. Remove him and his hoard of czars and assistants. It is time his lying, Muslim ass got booted out of our White House.

Thank you Patriot Post, you hit the nail on the head concerning the upholding of the Consitution! As stated; "Nowhere in our Constitution is there any authority or provision for these key proposals from Obama's SOTU..." Perhaps someone should author a book entitled "America's Constitutional Republic 101 For Dummies."

The operant word is "delusional." Let's pin it down and apply the proper clinical terms: To be delusional is to harbor a Messianic personality characterized by Delusions of Grandeur and Persecution. Megalomania, obsessive behavior, feelings of omnipotence, intolerance to opposition are part and parcel of the illness. That's our CiC, folks, the president who's going to bring us "hope" and "change"; who's going to "restore America's image abroad"; who's going to hold the unemployment numbers below 8%. Face the fact that he intends to punish America for its success, its wealth, its prosperity. He intends to "distribute the wealth" in the name of reparations. What ought to be terrifying to any thinking person is how quickly he's brought us to the edge of the cliff. Those who voted for him were gullible. Those who continue to support him are just plain stupid -- and you can't fix stupid.

It is time for change. We need to change our two party system and vote out the entire Democrat party. They have fully shown their true nature which is pure evil. The party to replace the Democrats should be The Patriot Tea Party since they would be more likely to be able to work with Republicans to get the job done.

Being on Social Security/Disability and waiving Medicare since I started out on $700; can you live on $700? I am almost debt free and next year I will have to go on Medicare, if it still exists. I am so angry that our President doesn't practice what he preaches. Instead he Spends money we don't have. I wonder when the Americans will wake up. I hope it's not before he spends more money on more rail systems. If you have a solution, please let me know. Linda H.

Republican reactions to Obama miss the mark, as mentioned. Nothing was said about his unconstitutional use of his executive order declaring CO2 a pollutant. Obama thinks he need not get Congress' action to pursue regulation. Think he'll get away with it?

I found his "speech" if you want to call it that, much to do about nothing, because all he did was repeat the lies he said in his campaign speeches. The truth is, although I think President Bush did a lot of good, he, as well as the presidents before him, be it Republican or Democrat has set the stage for Obama to come in and send this country into one big socialist nation. It will take a miracle and a great many prayers to be able and turn this around. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is in control, and He knows what He is doing. If he gives us mercy, we will be able to turn this country around, if it is time for His judgment, well then, so be it. He is a just and loving God, and He knows the beginning from the end. Obama clearly favors all other countries but this one, which he intends to totally change to be
more socialistic. He has not done ONE thing in the
past year to help anyone in need, but himself and his cronies. Obama surrounds himself with anti-
American, anti-Christian communists and even though he speaks well reading from the teleprompter, words provided by other, you can not believe one word he says if it appears to be for the good of the USA.

I have made the suggestion so many times to Politicians in Congress ANNUALLY - MANDATORY ATTENDANCE - the full reading of our Foundational Documents -Ten Commandments of Almighty God, Declaration of Independence, Constitution of the United States of America. Especially the Constitution which they are all under Sacred Oath to "uphold and defend". Will they do it???? NO. The Public Schools are no longer under LOCAL control and the teaching of the Civics, "OLD" American History, and the reading to the Children the Foundational Documents isn't done in 12 years of very expensive public school education in this Country. No wonder most of these legislators haven't a "clue" as to the document which they have been sworn "to uphold and defend."
Since 1963 at the request of the atheist O'Hare, prayer & Bible reading was taken from the Public Schools, it's been "down hill ever since". Hosea 4:6 "..seeing thou has forgotten the law of Thy God, I will also forget they children". REVERSE this awful ruling. Our Founders only intended that this Beloved Country be built on the Bible. They knew the "heart of man" because they read their Bibles and their Preachers preached Liberty.
Neither the Republicans or the Democrats will recognize our Christian Foundations. O, we have a lot of "lip service" but their hearts are from the Ten Commandments of Almighty God.
As the Democratic party has now, been reduced to shambles, because of their "disregard of the Constitution of the United States" so, too, will fall the Republicans if they don't "respect those boundaries as set forth in the United States Constitution and their respective State Constitutions."
Ignorance,in regards to our Blessed Foundations in this United States, is not a valid "excuse",especially when we speak of our leaders, you are under oath to God, "to uphold and defend" that Constitution. READ IT, these are your legislative boundaries, the boundaries are set, the line is drawn. NO COMPROMISE.
For God & Country

Cream! They didn't serve cream last night. I always like cream when someone's trying to feed me oatmeal!
Government ceases to be "OF THE PEOPLE" when we continue to send self-important, out of touch, elitist peacocks to Washington. The preening and back slapping last night was a picture of too many people far too happy with themselves.
Government ceases to be "BY THE PEOPLE" when, election after election, there are only two parties in power, and the electorate ignorantly believes it when they are told to elect one party over the other as a solution to Washington's problems.
Government ceases to be "FOR THE PEOPLE" when the the clear desire of the electorate to have less government control, less spending, and lower taxes is dismissed because there is some higher wisdom that hasn't been explained to us. To most Americans, the face of government is a bored bureaucrat sitting across a desk.

Justice Story's "Commentaries on the United States Constitution" should be read by each citizen who loves liberty and wishes to evaluate those whom they elect to serve.
His concluding paragraph:
"§ 1907. If these Commentaries shall but inspire in the rising generation a more ardent love of their country, an unquenchable thirst for liberty, and a profound reverence for the constitution and the Union, then they will have accomplished all, that their author ought to desire. Let the American youth never forget, that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capable, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of fife, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, property, religion, and independence. The structure has been erected by architects of consummate skill and fidelity; its foundations are solid; its compartments are beautiful, as well as useful; its arrangements are full of wisdom and order; and its defences are impregnable from without. It has been reared for immortality, if the work of man may justly aspire to such a title. It may, nevertheless, perish in an hour by the folly, or corruption, or negligence of its only keepers, THE PEOPLE. Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them."

Our good President has obviously not learned his lessons as taught by the recent Democratic losses. The people are beginning to recognize that his type of "Change & Hope" is absolutely wrong for America. Considering that, among other things, he refused to back down in his efforts to cram health care "reform" down our collective throats, my prediction is that there will continue to be bloodletting in the following mid-term elections, that the Democrats (and especially the far left) will continue to lose seats. Let's HOPE that the CHANGE will be back towards the political center and towards more adherence to the Constitution.

Good Essay Mark. However the real issues now to this country is how do we fix it !! The 'politically correct', 'fear of muslims', 'ignoring illegal immigrants', and most importantly 'living constitution' approach to everything are taking this country down... fast. There are very few sitting Republicans and fewer sitting Democrats who even consider the Constitution when contemplating voting on issues. I continuously write my 'elected' representatives on small government, balanced budget, reducing national debt, strong defense / military, vote NO to healthcare/insurance takeover, etc... and I always get back their canned responses to the 'topics' of what I have written them about. The next step is voting them out, however who is coordinating the people and how do we know which new candidates to vote for? Will voting Independent or Conservative or Constitutional only fragment the conservative votes and again place more Liberal Democrats in office? Or will the Republican Party get a backbone and again stand up for the constitution and rule of law that it once stood for? This should be a huge concern, and we must find a way to coordinate our votes to ensure we are putting true constitutional representatives in office next time.
And to me, the next step is to begin impeaching elected representatives in congress, the president, the cabinet, and the Supreme Court justices when they ignore the constitution - as written !!
Keep up the good work PatriotPost.

I believe that the true diversity of America is it's vast array of skills, traits, talents and abilities. That is my definition of diversity. I believe the differences in religions, sexes, races, nationalities, politics, etc. are just that "differences". We need to praise everyone's differences, not inflate our own as being more important or due more recognition than others. We need to stop battling between or over our differences and concentrate on "Unity". United we can do and accomplish anything we as a nation accept as a common goal for ourselves and our country, so long as we have a commoness of purpose, a common language; and, "Unity".

We are supposed to be a free society, not a socialist one. Freedom and the people of the US are what we protect.
Good, sound business practices should be a priority, not risky practices taken by the big corporations to get rich quick and rely on government bail-outs. If a company is that big it would bring down the world economy then the people overseas should due there part for the recovery or go out of business. The company should take responsibility for its actions and not rely on government.
After the State of the Union Address, I am still wondering where all the money is going to come from to pay for all these programs.
Balance the budget and pay down the debt. It will take years, but if the politicians start worrying about the people of America, realize what they are there to do, and stop with the games maybe we can pull ourselves out of this situation.
Lets get back to the basics.

Maybe I am reading between the lines a little too much, but did Obama flirt with the separation of powers at least twice last night?
1) I forget exactly what it was, but he mentioned something to the effect of "...if the Senate won't pass it, I'll write an Executive Order..." or something like that. Executive Branch asserting authority over the Legislative Branch?
2) Scolding the Supreme Court justices as they sat there? Executive Branch asserting authority over the Judicial Branch?
How long will we continue to stomach this???

Regarding Impeachment--
Obama does not have to be impeached by Congress, because a person who is not a Natural Born Citizen cannot be President of the USA in the first place.
Therefore he is not the President of the USA!
Impeachment is the tool Congress uses to remove a LEGAL PRESIDENTS from office!
As for the Current ILLEGAL USURPER RESIDENT in the White House, all you have to do to remove Obama from the White House is --
Arrest Him, Handcuff Him, Physically Remove Him from the White House, and lastly - take Him to JAIL where he rightfully belongs!

The President never mentioned God or even alluded to the Almighty in his entire long winded mwssage.
He is out of touch with America. He gave the usual canned "how generous, kind and brave" we are, but never mentioned why we are the way we are. We are because we have been taught these elements of goodness as Christ taught us, teachers in our churches and schools, loving parents, Scoutmasters and others who for their love of country, and our way of life, did so because it is the right way of life. The great strength of America lies in its local churches that have brought our country to what is is today. He insults us with his arrogance.

This was an outstanding article that needs to be sent to all Republicans, in the Congress & out, to all the conservative commentators on TV & Radio to get the news out to the public.
How did Obama get to run for President without all his radical ties to Communists, thugs, Acorn etc not being put out before the American public. Of course the liberal or 'Progressive newsmedia covered up for him, but it wasn't covered by any media. It needs to be brought out so all can understad just who he really is. Thanks for your effort. How about turning the Clinton quote around - "There is nothing patriotic about... pretending that you can love your government but despise your country and your fellow citizens." ?
President Obama and his fellow travelers, Jeremiah Wright, Ayers, Creamer, et al have openly shown their disdain with the lowly citizenry, as they are clearly beknighted with their elitist notions of fundamental transformation in the Marxist image.

Spot on, Janette & Ruth Ann!
It's been made clear that our citizenry is composed of 20% liberal, 40%conservative, and 40% independent. Why then does not our elected representative government have the same makeup? Perhaps(?) it is not representative at all. Seems that it should be...
Independents are free to blow in the wind--they did just that in the last election--and they are free to blow back, as they are doing now. The system works, but it depends on TRUTH, which has been in short supply lately.
Mark's reading of the SOTU is terrific!!
One may be free to interpret our Constitution as a living document, but while doing so one is NOT free to interpret what's clearly SAID in any other way. The fundamentals are just that--FUNDAMENTAL. Our founders were very clear on that.

I was disappointed by McDonnell's response. It was limp and politically careful and he even praised Obama twice with personal agreement.
Those of us who are watching Obama and his radical cohorts destroy our country and bypass, daily, our Constitution, do not want political salve on words or statements from our "leaders." We want strong opposition and a tough stance on the principles of our Founding Fathers and reverence to our Constitutional wisdom.
Taking our country back will require warriors with virtuous principles. We don't need fence sitters who waver with the political winds.
When we find that strong voice, Obama and his revolutionary buds will no longer be able to "disrupt, dismantle, and destroy" this country.

Last night I saw a performance, not a State of the Union address.
I observed an egotistical, narcissistic, marxist, blowhard, repeating the same lines that he has been uttering since the presidential campaign, a campaign, that evidently is still occuring.
This "Manchurian Candidate," who has been inflicted upon America, managed to insult the Supreme Court of the United States, speaking to the justices as if they were school children, ridiculing their decision, regarding the first amendment rights of corporations, in regards to campaign contributions and defiantly imparting the message that he will find a way around the courts decision, if those decisions don't suit his agenda.
He then went on to insult the Republicans and imply the GOP is an obstructionist party, that is not interested in bipartisanship. As I recall, it is he and the Democrats, most notably Pelosi and Reid who have conducted the hearings on "Socialist Health Care" behind closed doors and thumbed their noses at the Republicans as well as the majority of the American people, who don't want their plan implemented.
This President definantly insinuated that he will continue on the course that he has been on, despite the wishes of the American people. He hasn't learned from his disasterous jaunts into Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts, that resulted in the defeats of gubenatorial and senatorial candidates, that the public is on to him. Every candidate that he has campaigned for recently, has lost. This should tell him that even in liberal Massachusetts, people don't want a Marxist Dictator.
He continues to blame the Bush administration for everything from the extinction of the dinosaurs to the earthquake in Haiti. When will he take ownership of his presidency and accept responsibility for his own ineptness at governing?
Being the narcissist that he is, he couldn't even take the time to acknowledge the two police officers, one of whom was wounded, who took down the Ft. Hood assassin. He also failed to acknowledge the Army Sergeant who was seated near them. Hey, Mr. Teleprompter Man, if your going to invite heroes to be props in your audience, you should at least have the decency to acknowledge them. But then that would preclude the focus being on someone else for a minute or two and your ego probably wouldn't be able to handle that.
The only thing that kept me awake during this speech was watching Joe Biden move his head up and down like the bobbing dog in the back windshield of a car, while smiling incessently and Nancy Pelosi excercising her facial muscles by alternately moving her mouth as if she was a cow chewing her cud, sticking her tongue out and licking her lips. Additionally, her jumping out of her seat like a jack in the box so many times must have her nursing some sore legs today.

This is an excellent article, Mark! You are spot on with your assessment of our President's state of the union address: a socialist response to government created problems. I couldn't agree more.
Ditto on the Republican response; I found it a tepid reaction to an elitist agenda wrought with fundamental violations of basic liberties and enumerated powers. This approach assures only that Republicans will forever be only the lesser of two evils. Somewhere they lost the "republic" in "Republican" and will not be able to seize the public forum until a return to Constitutional conservatism is embraced.

His hubris is stunning. That he referred to something in the Constitution that is not there is frightening. How could this man have been a Constitutional scholar, w/o knowing this? How could he or his speech writers have overlooked this patently obvious fact? I fear the answer is, they could care less about the Constitution. We must demand our educators revamp their curricula & they include Constitutional study, at almost every educational level. Our real Constitution, not the 'idea' of a constitution. Supposedly Obama once said he thought our Constitution was an oppressive document. That alone was why I could never vote for him. If he really does think or believe this, then he could never have taken his oath of office w/ sincerity.
Passage of the current health care legislation, w/ a follow-up piece to 'fix' what House Democrats object to, would seriously violate his tax pledge & a number of others on this subject. Since many of his pledges or promises have already been violated, why I would expect any different is beyond me.
Obama said "If you abide by the law, you should be protected by it." Lets be real here folks, he just told us he should not be protected by our laws since he has circumvented or violated many already. In fact, many of his actions promote the violation of or the breaking of numerous laws. We are told Bush was a bad President. If Bush was bad, then I assert we now have a President who is beyond any level of bad we have ever considered. President Buchanan can now rest in peace. Obama will go down in history as our worse President ever, by a huge margin.
Since he has decided to ignore the people, I say, its time to begin to plan for our new next President.

It Is surprising the temperature did not rise several degrees in spin city east from all the hot air expended by one Obama(man who would be king)during his rally to again flim-flam the American people.
His socialist views have no place within this republic; yet, millions voted for this "community organizer"(rabble rouser)from the corrupt,Chicago political machine.
Man is shaped by his environment. Ali babba's is shaped by his association with Marxists(Communist party), terrorists(Ayers), and hate mongers(previous "religious" minister), just to name a few.
He may be an American by birth(clouded)and he may have received an excellent education from Harvard(transcripts hidden from view), but his heart is with the socialist elite and Islamics(not the good but the jihadists).
His speech, if dissected correctly, would show him in violation of the Constitution of this great country as to limits placed on the executive branch.
I believe Jefferson is responsible for stating: "Keep government small and the purse strings tight." Well, we ain't doing do good and with the help of a socialist congress the "man" wishes to force us into deeper insolvency until our great, great, great grandchildren can't even see the light of day.
It is absolutely necessary time to get back to the basics of fiscal responsibility(joke), to pay off the National Debt and endorse again the Constitution. Otherwise China, the Middle East, and Europe will own us lock, stock, and barrel.
Personally, I do not wish to be controlled or dictated by anyone but by fellow American patriots.

Caesar, Robert Mugabe, Muammar al-Qaddafi, Adolf Hitler, King Abdullah, Tan Schwe, Hu Jintao, Fidel and Raul Castro, Che Guevara, Benito Mussolini, Idi Amin, Hugo Chavez, Jomo Kenyatta, Josef Stalin, Karl Marx, Napoleon, Mao Tse Tung, Kim Jong Il, all had (have) their own agendas and their people were (are) merely chattel, serfs, slaves to their purposes.
"The death of one man is a tragedy. The deaths of a million are a statistic." -- Josef Stalin
So it is with Odumbwa. Words mean nothing to him -- either from those who agree or disagree. His childhood, reinforced by his genetic makeup, shaped him into a truly dangerous man. Like his silent partner, George Soros, Odumbwa would put his own mother on a train to Auschwitz. He has turned his back on his half-brother and the rest of his relations; he truly doesn't care about blacks or other minorities; he has no feeling, no sensitivity, toward people who must work for a living. He works hard at creating crisis after crisis to exert his influence over the outcomes which always result in his drawing ever more control to himself.
He is delusional, and, if the operant word is "delusional," let's pin it down and apply the proper clinical terms: To be delusional is to harbor a Messianic personality characterized by Delusions of Grandeur and Persecution. Megalomania, obsessive behavior, feelings of omnipotence, intolerance to opposition, are part and parcel of that illness. Any opposition is met with immediate anger and unforgotten disapproval. He never forgets a slight and he will eventually find a way to punish those who ignore him or who treat him as unimportant. He is humorless and especially despises humor directed at him.
He feels wounded, abandoned, ignored, by prosperous (white) America and he intends to punish us for that prosperity. His purpose is to impose reparations on us to somehow assuage his feelings of inferiority and inadequacy. He has surrounded himself with similarly-impotent, unsuccessful men whose anger knows no bounds. Obumbwa absorbed their feelings and their tortured, angry logic and he intends to give himself a dominant voice through punitive legislation.
For a president to chastise the Supreme Court to their faces during a SotU address is more than unprecedented. It's an angry young man trying to get even for being brushed aside. Just one Senate election shifted the power in the Congress and brought Obama's festering hatred out into the open.
As the Soviet army pounded Berlin into rubble, while safely ensconced in his bunker, Hitler screamed obscenities at the German people for having been weak, for not having resisted conquest and for not having appreciated the genius of their Fuhrer. In his Last Will and Testament, Hitler wrote that he was pleased that the German people were being deservedly punished.
Odumbwa is genetically the same. I don't think that he'll finish out his term. His own delusions will undo him.

Alexander's essay said both the Democrat and Republican health care proposals lack constitutional authority. However, as I understand it, the Republican proposal is one of REMOVING restrictions imposed by GOVERNMENT and ALLOWING market forces to work freely:
1. Allow insurance to be sold interstate, something GOVERNMENT currently forbids.
2. Allow small businesses to form insurance pools.
3. Reform government-created legal malpractice rules.
4. Remove the tax code's discrimination against individuals who buy their own health care.
All of these are market-based proposals. They would not have the government regulating health care at all. To the contrary, they would go a long way to taking government out of the health care picture altogether. Could you, therefore, elaborate on how this lacks constitutional authority?

Where have the men and women of honor gone in this country? Is everyone so afraid of losing a life of slavery that the cost of retaining our Liberty and God given Rights is unthinkable.
The socialist are in charge and command our police and armies and will enforce by the threat of brute force any unconstitutional governmental dictates against those who would attempt to preserve our freedom. If you step across the government defined line against their socialist royal decrees and demand a restoration of our freedom and hold a legal instrument protected by our second amendment, you will most assuredly loose your life and be branded a criminal.
Our out of control government cares not for our freedom and cares less for their limits as defined by the Constitution that was put in place to prevent tyrannical government. Our Constitution was created to protect our liberty and our God given rights not to define a limitless governmental power over us.
How can we ignore this assault on our liberty any longer, how can we hide and keep our means of restoration silent, how can we value our own lives above the preservation of our once free county and
the Liberty of our children.
I believe that we have the strength to prevail in our struggle to restore and retain the foundation of this countrys liberty. We must band together as a Band of Brothers, protecting each other and defending our Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness from the destruction of a determined enemy with all means available to us as our elected have shown repeatedly that they consider themselves to be a ruling elite that views us the people with contempt and as to ignorant and incapable of living our lives without their insightful parental guidance.

I am retired Military and back in school studying Criminal Justice. One of my text books writes about Joe Biden and his ideas about "common law" and our Constitution. Biden (at the time he made the statement) felt that we need to revise law and get away from common law and redo the Constitution (bring it up to date).
The first amendment has five parts; one is the "freedom of speech" that is spoken of by the press so often. That was what the Supreme Court decided on - freedom of speech applies to everyone -without regard to how much money or influence one might have. All I read in the decision was the Constitution applies to everyone, period.
There have been several decisions that the Supreme Court overturned in their past history. The 18th amendment (prohibition) had a "sunset" clause in it and we see this used often now.
I do not veiw Obama and Biden as leaders with the best interest of the country/people in the forefront. Both could use classes in American History and be required to write a dissertation on the history of the Constitution. For extra points they could include an explaination of the anti-federalists and the Federalists paper/letters.
PS: I love the Patriot Post!

Based on this essay it seems to me we can have one of two types of government: 1) the kind that will hold our hand, spend our money and fix all the world's social ills, or 2) a Constitutional government. America's little experiment over the past 200 odd years has proven that option 2 works better than option 1. If you want proof, take a look at Haiti. Is it the governments of the world providing the money and doing most of the work helping the folks of Haiti? Or, is it the charitable organizations, and individuals (even Hollywood entertainers) who are supplying the brunt of the money and help?
Since Republicans these days are sounding so much like milder versions of Democrats, maybe it's time for a whole new political party?

Anton - Fear not.
"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States." Noah Webster
Thank God that the Founding Fathers included the First and Second Amendments. I admire their wisdom more and more each day. They knew what political power could do in the wrong hands. Today's body politic is replete with just such examples. I am confident that, one way or another, real patriots - your "Band of Brothers (and sisters!)" will stop this madness before it goes too far. I thank God for the Patriots at the Post (and others) that have helped to educate me as to what the Founding Fathers intended. It gives me the courage, strength and confidence to proclaim the truth that exposes those who do not truly hold this Country's best interest at heart - which they swore to do in the first place.

I don't see that happening, I see political posturing.

Obviously Obama doesn't care about the Constitution. You say the right things about the Constitution, but if I recall there was only one candidate running in the last election cycle that truly spoke and acted on the Constitution. It wasn't Fred Thompson!

If people wake up and learn our own Constitution and act on it by working to replace the Democrats that are now helping him dismantle our Republic, he won't be re-elected. We all need to arm ourselves firstly with the Truth and search for ways to educate others who have been deprived of learning our history by progressives/Communist since the beginning of the last century instead of trying to argue with the deprived and rock star affected lovers of this dear leader BO.
Go to their sites and post on their boards rebuttals to the ignorant statements they make but do it in an intelligent way, not combative. They have to go and then he will have no backing. Keep our arms handy just in case this is not successful.
Remember, he who is not against us is for us or at can be won.

Well done! Well done! It is obvious that BHO is a Marxist, Collectivist, Communist sympathizer who is not even a real citizen, but a true "Manchurian Candidate". He is a puppet of George Soros, and an Alinky disciple. Lord have mercy on these United States!

John McClain
As a life long mechanic, a machinist, toolmaker, machine rebuilder, and electronics technician and instructor in high end electronics communication and encryption, my working life has no room for any error what so ever, accuracy is paramount.
As such, I have long written my elected representatives about our fiat currency, using the moniker "monopoly money", because it is produced in exactly the same way, by printing, with no accounting for how much has been printed in the past, and the effect printing more has on that which is already circulating, and it seems that some politicians have started to accept that most people are cynical about the Federal Reserve and its penchant for printing as if they were printing "monopoly money", and can now use the term without cringing.
Something I've never noted in my comparison between fiat currency and monopoly money, is they each are used in their own venue, and while monopoly money can never be used as currency, it is not, in its self, valueless, but in its own venue, carries exactly the same value as money does in our world.
Now that politicians are comfortable with the term, and wish to take it, use it, and thus defuse its derisive character, it's time the issue is clarified.
When people take up the game monopoly, for the purpose of passing an evening in amusement, most put every bit of personal acumen, wisdom, experience, and strategy into playing the game, as they use in their personal lives, playing the game like they live their lives. In this course, they are every bit as careful with their finances in the game, as they are about finances in their real life, because they wish to win the game, or at least be serious competitors in it, or the game is of no consequence, and boring.
Since the politicians can now use the term "monopoly money" without apparent remorse or guilt, it should be noted by all of us who have played the game, and played it for fun, to win, against family or friends, but in all cases, with the intent of winning, at best, and coming in something other than bankrupted before the game is over, and having to sit on the sidelines and watch the end of the game in silence.
Those who play the game the way our politicians play with our real monetary system, and our real capital investments, and our real banks and government, find the outcome to be the same as occurs in real life: ruthless people destroy their opponents, those who get luck to go along with skill, crush opponents, and end up essentially owning the whole board.
With the putative president using the term "monopoly money", in speeches, we, The People, must take a hard look at this man, what he is doing with his power over the printing, his accumulated status as a "player", and remember how the game of monopoly works, and how it plays out with the various personalities we've experienced, and realize what it means when those running the government, which is not a game, run it in the way we have watched others "run the game", and use this knowledge to understand what is the intent of this man, given his status, his method and modus operanda in running his assembled fascist government, and understand that our experience playing the game, gives us a very accurate window into the mind-set of all elected officials who can speak of the game with equanimity, and without feeling the parallel as a challenge, but find it as a useful tool in their lexicon of political speach.
Monopoly was a powerful influence on society, because it was introduced at a time when real money was suddenly outlawed, by FDR, and paper money was printed to replace the gold that the government demanded be turned over, with the threat of enormous consequences for those caught "hoarding" their gold.
It has lost much of its impact because few Americans alive have ever used a gold coin for money, and only a small fraction of the population has ever used real silver coin as money, so for most of us, paper money has always been the standard.
It is for this reason, I wanted to bring out the fact that Monopoly was and is a powerful tool for teaching principles of economics, and for teaching the ways and means of government stealing the value of money from The People, even while they earn it, by being able to print it, and inflate it each and every moment of each and every day, all the while using statistics and numerology to "prove" that inflation is controlled, that paper money is not the problem, and that it is there because it is far more convenient, and not specifically because it gives the government the ability to "make a profit" of what ever percentage seen fit, on each and every dollar printed, this profit coming directly out of the pocket of every single person who gets paid either an hourly wage, or a salary.
It is for this reason alone, the Constitution specifies Congress has the responsibility to "COIN" money, and establish relative values thereof, and prohibits a central bank, and ensured a sound currency all the way to the point of the establishment of the non-governmental private corporation known as "The Federal Reserve".
If we wish to have our Constitution back, the one that belongs to "The People of The Several States", and is the "Controlling Legal Authority" over every aspect of Our government, we must remove the ability for the government, now fascist, to control the monetary supply, and we must take such action as to force our illegal central government which has replaced the lawful federal government, to revert to the Constitution with regard to our monetary system, and in this way, eliminate its ability to maintain a constant source of illegal revenue pulled from the economy by stealing it from the printing presses, as it is printed to pay the bills.
As long as the King has his own private cash source, which essentially skims a percentage off every single monetary transaction which takes place in the Nation, The King will always have money to keep his bodyguards in place, and prevent The People from taking back what is rightfully theirs.
With our fiat currency system, the government only has to demand a part of its income through taxes, and anger everyone. It always has an enormous income which is produced by skimming off the Federal Reserve production, which is sufficient to provide for the bribes and payoffs that keep our criminals in power. It is merely another aspect of the game of taxing income before it is disbursed, and allowing people to think they are getting money from the government, when it returns the overage it has taken, at the end of the year when we file our taxes. We would pay far more attention to our taxes, were the situation reversed, and we were receiving a bill at the end of the tax year, for our taxes, and had to pay them out in full, thus knowing exactly the cost of keeping criminals in office.
We would not allow our government to consume nearly half of all that is produced Nationally, were we to have to pay it out annually, in a lump with a bill coming due, we would decide a reasonable balance between the value and purpose of government, and the cost of keeping all of it, because the need for this balance would be right before us, and not capable of being hidden or ameliorated by revenues taken which are never seen in the light of day.
In my opinion, FDR's taking advantage of the Federal Reserve, and banning real money is the greatest crime any president ever committed against the Nation, and provided the means of socialism to creep in to the Nation, under the cover of fiat currency, hiding its potential and day to day damage, and providing it cover for the day when it would be prepared to attempt to overturn the Republic, and reshape the Nation.
No nation in history has ever fallen while it was using real money, but only when the governments have moved to the subterfuge of fiat currencies, showing their enemies the failure of their productivity, have they been attacked and taken over, and subsumed as part of another empire.
No nation which is actually producing more than it is consuming is ever well served with fiat currency, and in fact, such currencies naturally destroy the productive capacity of Nations, by taking away the ability to accurately evaluate economic factors affecting decisions the producers must make each and ever day.
The exact purpose of going on a "fiat currency" was to allow the government to grow beyond its lawful limits, without the politicians having to explain where the financing for this growth of government came from. The unintended consequence of this deliberate act, was to destroy the only means to accurately control productivity, and evaluate it, and make such changes as small factors intrude on routine, and require change.
The government cannot tell the truth on this score because then it must explicate the facts behind its deliberate work and changing of the rules, in order to grow beyond its lawful limits, and allow The People to see this was done at their expense, on their dime, and entirely to their detriment, with a myriad of unintended consequences, too many to be enumerated, and thus take responsibility for the actual destruction of our economy. Therefore, We, The People, who understand economics must tell the story, and we must ensure it is told across the land, and all Citizens fully understand they will never get a full paycheck, while the Government controls the money, and it will continue to steal, each and every minute of each and every day as long as the Federal Reserve exists. This stealing being only on top of the overt stealing done every day by deficit spending, and passing unfunded mandates, which are also stealing by every definition of the word.
We can only return to being "Sovereign Citizens" of "The Several Sovereign States", when we regain our control and thus sovereignty, over our monetary system. Until that day, the government is ruling the government, just as it was in 1775.

Three Point Outline:
1. REVERSE 1963 Supreme Court ruling that hearkened to the atheist O'Hare PUT PRAYER AND BIBLE READING BACK IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
2. REPEAL 1964 CIVIL RIGHTS LEGISLATION - We have a BILL OF RIGHTS.
3. REPEAL 1965 Federal Revenue Sharing- the TEETH to the MANDATORY, rules, regulations, and mandates coming from the Federal Level
I would think 10th Amendment people would do this immediately. This "sharing the wealth" legislation is the "Culprit" in all the rules, regulations, and mandates coming from the Feds. Why the "participation" the HOPE of the GRANT. UGH??!!
So if you are a "mover", you'd better start the "shaken'" because these are all suggestions of a legislative nature which could be affected without farther means employed by we, the people.

Extremely well written and very understandable. As a 60 year old businessman, I have had to and at the same time enjoyed working with creative, skilled, motivated and self reliant people to ensure our company(s) success. Honestly I've never paid much attention to the the wranglings in Washington, but can no longer idly sit by and watch what is happening to our country. This radical departure from what is right and what has made this country so great is absolutely obsurd and must be stopped and soon. If what happened in Massachusetts several weeks ago could take place tomorrow around the country, I'm not sure it wouldn't be too late. The elected official's governing this country right now are ruining it and if we don't act within the next 12 months to counter their actions we are as much at fault as they are.
Keep up the wonderful work as there are many of us behind you.

As a retired police officer myself I found your P.S. at the very end speaks volumes as to the Obama disrespect for those who serve and protect every day. The fact that he gags on saying Terrorist, Jihadist or any truthful description of these killers is evidence that, in my eyes, he is a Muslim because they cannot speak out against any faction, no matter how radical, because that's the way they are raised and brain-washed into believing.

I am puzzled that someone has not started the process of impeaching this president. I see nowhere that he chooses to honor our constitution and when another president was impeached, I believe it was for less action done than what Obama is still doing. I agree with the statements that this country has done quite well by the original Constitution. Why mess that up! This country is still the best place to live, even with the problems it has had. Why else would so many people die trying to get into this country? You certainly don't see people spending that much effort to get into places like Iraq, or any Islam countries, ? Those that come here and complain should go back where they came from! I have my doubts as to what Obama's actual motives are now that he has the presidential chair to sit in. What happened to the checks and balances system that was originally put into place to uphold our constitution?

Shall we count the times our "professor" of constitutional law has shown his ignorance of the Constitution? Not only can't he tell the difference between the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, although I wish the people would take the latter to heart with a vengeance, he don't even understand his authority under the Constitution. Didn't he promise to go thru every bill line by line to eliminate waste, and didn't he say he'd have deliberations of bill on CSPAN? As well intention as such ideas might be, presidents don't have that authority under the Constitution.
And now he doesn't understand a SCOTUS decision doesn't overturn the laws banning foreign donations or allow direct corporate donations? Who needs a Constitution if we can't enforce it?

I am 78 years of age, college educated, and former owner of a small business. Twenty grand children, and eight great grandchildren. Served honorably for four years in the United States Air Force, and for the first time am scared to death of a political party, and our president. God help us as we hurdle down the path of Socialism and dictatorship. Pray for a total awakening, and a return to common sense, and allowing God and our Constitution to lead us.

I took my country for granted for many years, not paying to much attention to politics as I worked and raised my family; although I always said the pledge of alligance with pride as a child (are children even allowed to say it these days?), and felt tears well up in my eyes when singing the national anthem, but 9/11 woke me up out of my slumber and I realized how blessed I was to live in this country and how much I love America. Now, I am truly awake to Obama's agenda, which I give credit to Glenn Beck (thank God for Glenn!) and for the Fox news, the Patriot Post, etc.. I am now a member of the tea party, I'm reading the consituition and trying to learn everything I can about our founding father's etc... as I have been ignorant much too long! But I feel such a sense of desperation in my very soul to see where Obama is taking our country, I actually woke up from a nightmare one night screaming "Wake up America", I guess because many of the people I talk to are still asleep, just as I once was, but fortunately there are so many people that have awaken to the tyranny. I want to do my part for my country and I pray for the sake of my children, grandchildren and my fellow American's that God steps in and does a miracle! Please, pray for God's intervention. I remember reading in the Bible that God said He would curse a nation that cursed Him, and bless a nation that blessed him; so if everyone would start crying out to God to save us and give Him the praise He deserves I truly believe He will answer us. Thank you, and God Bless you ALL!

The people had better wake up and soon, to the FACT that there is no longer a 2 part system, and We the People had better start thinking about how we are going to get a third party system started.Yeah, I know there has never been a 3rd party since our founders established our Constituation,Sooooo, never say never. We the People decide what is best for OUR Country, and when those whom we have elected fail to carry out the wishes of The People we have the obligation to run, them out of office!
Yes, I also realize this cannot be done in a day,it takes many many people from all states to begin to unite us as one. There are plenty of people out there in our vast country, that have the gray matter that I sure don't have, and I pray that one will come forward and begin this process and soon!
The Elites? who now hold all the cards are not going to give up without a fight, and I believe that Obama has a trick up his sleeve that will stop any further elections for the presidency. It would take a cataclysm to bring it about, which he already has prepared to use, remember folks this dude wants to be king,he wants the whole ball of wax,and never ever forget those Communists that are working in the back ground telling him all the moves he should take.
At the present time there is some infighting going on within the democratic party, leaving us thinking O Boy here's our chance during Novs. election to take out party back.
I ask you, what party, the republicans? it will be the same old, same old party, only disguised to make us take a deep breath and shout, :We are back in power" you won't be! and don't let(no matter who's running)tell you different. Their all Belt Way Politicans, and all they know about or care about is power and money.
So long for now fellow Americans, and remember that we can fight with words and an information link to all Americans who feel as we do.
God Bless Us all
and God Bless America
ps.this is my first time to comment and I apologize if I have taken to long.

John McClain: Rome fell while it was using "real money." I am not sure what in your theory "real money" is but I presume it is something backed by gold or silver or actually containing gold and silver.
A gold coin is fiat currency as well, it is not just paper money that constitutes fiat money. Small change is all fiat money but it also has worth because of its metal content (nickel, copper, etc.)
Prior to 1972, the dollar was worth a certain amount of gold which was then exchanged with other currencies on a fixed schedule. Even then this exchange was considered fiat money ("fiat" is Latin for "let it be") because it was an artificial determination of the dollar's value in gold. All the other currencies pegged their values on this determination.
We moved from gold backed currency in 1972 for two reasons:
1. To allow the stock market to expand our use and printing of money
2. We were not finding any more substantial sources of gold and thus we could not print more money; all the gold that was ever mined could fit into a large petroleum tanker; we still exploit gold but it takes the removal of about two tons of dirt to produce one ounce of gold.

Thanks, Ileana, for your post on "money and gold".
You made a very profound quote at the end of your post, "but it takes the removal of about two tons of dirt to produce one ounce of gold." And as I thought about it as pertaining to the Spiritual realm and the Bible, I thought "the dirt has to go before you can see the gold"
"Battle Hymn of the Republic", "He (God) is "sifting out the hearts of men" before His Judgment seat, O, be swift my soul to answer Him, be jubilant my feet, for God is marching on."
