Carter and Obama: An Unfair Comparison
· Thursday, December 1, 2011
Carter was inept, but Obama is totally incompetent
"[T]ake care that the laws be faithfully executed ... support the Constitution ... faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and ... preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" --Article II Section 1, 3 of the Constitution, on the duties of the Executive
Les IncompétentBack in 1979, our nation was in severe decline.
We were in the throes of a crippling recession, any hope of economic growth had been blunted by excessive taxation and regulation, and fuel prices were high -- the result of Middle East turmoil, particularly in Iran, which posed a grave threat to our interests and to regional stability.
To make matters worse, the nation was experiencing a crisis of confidence under the leadership of a Democrat president, James Earl Carter, who subscribed to the errant notion that government was the solution to our problems.
Fast-forward three decades, and there are remarkable parallels between Carter's failed leadership and that of Barack Hussein Obama today. In the words of that sage Yogi Berra, "It's déjà vu all over again."
As with Carter and his 1979 "Great Malaise" speech, Obama has even resorted to blaming the American people for the nation's ills. Most recently, Obama noted, "The way I think about it is, you know, this is, uh, you know, a great, uh, great country that had gotten a little soft, and you know, we didn't have that same competitive edge that we needed over the last, uh, couple of decades. ... Over the last decade, we became a country that relied too much on what we bought and consumed."
That assessment prompted immediate comparisons. "A second Obama term means making this malaise permanent," said former RNC chairman and current Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour. Conservative columns were abuzz with the similarities between the two. To the point, Newt Gingrich rightly protested, "We don't have a problem with America being too soft, we have a problem with Barack Obama just being plain wrong."
However, comparing Obama with Carter is, frankly, an insult to Carter. Though Carter had an abysmal record, by any measure Obama has yet to rise to even Carter's level of ineptitude.
It might be argued that Carter's intentions were good, but we all know where roads paved with good intentions can lead. Conversely, Obama's intentions are anything but good. Indeed, he is clearly intent on undermining Essential Liberty and replacing free enterprise with his brand of authoritarian democratic socialism.
Carter's White House bio notes: "His story is the American story -- values from the heartland, a middle-class upbringing in a strong family, hard work and education as the means of getting ahead, and the conviction that a life so blessed should be lived in service to others."
Actually, that's the opening text of Barack Obama's bogus bio, as posted on the current White House website.
"Values from the heartland"? Not unless one believes such values are reflected in the mentoring young Obama received from Communist Frank Marshall Davis, his religious mentoring by black ethnocentrist Jeremiah Wright, or his political mentoring by Leftist radicals Michael Pfleger, William Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Khalid al-Mansour, Rashid Khalidi, Bob Creamer and Saul Alinsky. Perhaps those values were instilled by the Chicago political machine and Obama's friends Rod Blagojevich and Tony Rezko.
"A strong family"? Obama's family -- if it can be called that -- is a textbook model for dysfunctional development, highlighted by abandonment, first by his Muslim Kenyan father, then by his atheist mother who moved to Indonesia with her second Muslim husband.
Thus, Obama's White House bio more accurately reflects Carter's values and upbringing.
I first met Jimmy Carter during his presidency when, as a young uniformed patrolman, I walked perimeter gun with his security detail. In the years after his failed presidential tenure, I had extended visits with Carter on several occasions, which allowed for spirited but friendly debates, and significant insights into his character and worldview.
Unlike Obama's faux family façade, Carter's story is the American story, one defined by gratitude, faith and a desire to serve others. He grew up in an intact traditional family in the rural farming community of Plains, Georgia. He was the product of generations of salt-of-the-earth Americans. A good student, Carter gained entrance to the United States Naval Academy in 1943. He later served under Admiral Hyman Rickover, developing nuclear power plants for submarines. After his Navy years, he became a successful peanut farmer, and he served two terms as a Georgia state senator before being elected governor and then president. He was, and remains, a genuine Christian who actually earned his 2002 Nobel Prize for his lifelong pursuit of human rights around the world.
Though I disagreed with Carter's politics, I found him to be a man of integrity and character who, unlike Obama, was truly devoted to our country, however misguided was his sense of how to express that devotion.
That having been said, Carter also earned the lowest job approval ratings of any president since voter confidence was first measured. His failure as a president was largely the result of a severe leadership deficit, compounded by the fact that his own political party turned its back on him. Carter refused to submit to the political machinations of Demo House Speaker Tip O'Neill or Demo Senator Ted Kennedy. Consequently, he was left out to dry.
Carter's most notable failures were in foreign policy, the paramount Constitutional duty of the Executive. He caved to Islamist extremism in Iran, appeased the Soviets and their expansionist activities in our hemisphere, and gave away the Panama Canal. Worse yet is the fact that he decimated our human intelligence capabilities in deference to more high tech intel capabilities. Reasonable HumInt in the most dangerous regions of the world have yet to be restored.
Fortunately, the Carter domestic and foreign policy trends were abruptly reversed with the election of Ronald Reagan.
This week, Obama's presidential job approval index, a measure of public opinion and confidence in Obama and his administration, set a new record low, sinking well below the standard set by Jimmy Carter at the end of his third year in office.
Then, Carter was at 51 percent, but Obama crashed through that barrier and is now at 43 percent, dropping below even the all-time low of 44 percent set by Lyndon Johnson. To his credit, Obama achieved this dubious distinction the old fashioned way: He earned it.
For the record, since Carter's presidency, at similar junctures in their presidential tenure, Ronald Reagan registered 54 percent, George H.W. Bush 52 percent, Bill Clinton 51 percent, and George W. Bush 55 percent.
Hand in hand with Obama's low approval rating is the Conference Board's consumer confidence index, which has been fluctuating between 40 and 55 points since July. This is the lowest confidence range since 1980 -- Carter's last year in office. And, as was the case with Carter, our economy is mired in another Crisis of Confidence.
Of course, it isn't likely that Obama will drop below 35 percent, given the current level of his entrenched socialized constituency, but some Democrat leaders are now whispering that Obama should give up his re-election bid. A pair of Demo pollsters is even calling this "The Hillary Moment."
Being the consummate case study in pathological narcissism, Obama isn't likely to step aside for the "good of the Party," much less the good of the nation. The resurgence of Populist Socialism will compel him to continue.
Indeed, the leader of the American Communist Party, Obama's most zealous constituency, proclaimed this week, "This is a volatile period. Battle lines are being drawn. Not for a while have things been so unhinged. A marked upswing, if not a qualitative turn in class and democratic struggles, is afoot. Sustained mass actions, civil disobedience, new levels of solidarity and consciousness, innovative tactics and slogans, and a complex array of social forces and organizations are reshaping the political landscape."
What America lacks most right now is authentic republican (little "r") leadership, and that critical void has proven perilous both for our nation and for the rest of the world.
To understand a foundational prerequisite for leadership, I refer you to a recent Air Force Academy address to our nation's next generation of military officers. It was delivered by Gen. Mark Welsh, and he rightly concludes, "Leadership is a gift. It's given by those who follow. You have to be worthy of it."
Our nation's crisis of confidence, and the resulting precipitous decline of our economy, society and world standing, is irrevocably linked to the current national leadership deficit, and that deficit is the consequence of an executive who is wholly unworthy of the gift of leadership.
Ominously, Obama is on the campaign trail with this mantra: "I've got to win in 2012. ... In order to finish the job, I'm going to have to have a second term. ... I need a couple more years to finish the job. ... I'm going to need another term to finish the job. ... I'm going to need a few more years to finish the job." If he dupes voters into electing him for another term, he will indeed, "finish the job."

Yes, God help us all. Because his coffers are full and he needs only to spend it to defeat one contender while the republicans have to fight one another and they are looking like fools doing so. Also, Obama can count on 98 percent of the blacks that vote, most of the hispanics, most of the teachers, most of the union voters and a lot of the government workers that vote, toss in the liberal vote, and there may not be enough left to defeat him. Our hope to defeat him is that his supporters stay home.

Carter did not have common sense, he tried to move the nation in what he thought was the right direction, although his view was in error. Obama is attempting to destroy this great country deliberately not move in a good direction.
I believe Carter loved this country, while Obama hates it.

And please God take away Reid somehow (Maybe his conscience will get him to resing), Pelosi and many more of the awful politicians set upon destroying America. At least Barney Frank will be out, but it galls me he will be living it up on the taxpayers still, after he had such a profound influence on the destruction of the economy.

No. I must disagree. Obama is doing what he set out to do. He is not incompetent. His systematic destruction of America's freedoms, economic tragedy and his supposedly inattention are well planned and working well. He golfs because he can. Who can tell him what to do? No one. He lets both party's in congress display their greatest talent. Doing nothing and getting the media promote it. We .have elected the worst of us all. Now we pay the price. Vote them all out. Unfortunately I am afraid that Obama CAN win re-election especially if the Republicans do not get their act together and find someone who has the moral fiber and intelligence (or maybe just public speaking skills)to run against him. While James Earl Carter clearly harbored socialist inclinations and apologetic view of America he, unlike Barack Hussein Obama, did not possess the arrogance or the will to believe he could destroy the nation's economic and Judeo-Christian pillars.

Jimmy Carter was well intentioned but totally unprepared for the presidency. The current occupant is devious, dishonest and totally unAmerican. Carter tried to help resserect the economy but again was totally out of his experience level. The current occupant is doing everything he can to destroy the USA as we know it. His goal is establishing a socialistic government, destroying free enterprise and enslaveing the American people.
His main goal is to destroy our Constitution.
What we're comparing is incompetance vs. outright attacks on society. The current idiot Must be thrown out or we will certainly experience another flesh & blood revolution.

It's like the difference I've always maintained between ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance is not knowing something. Everyone is ignorant of something. Lot's of us are ignorant of many things. But stupidity is knowing enough to see that what you're doing or trying isn't working or going to work, but going ahead and doing it anyway, or continuing to do it. Sort of like the definition of crazy being doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Now, I'll leave it up to you to decide who's ignorant and who is just plain stupid. I don't like to use the terms in regards to the office we're discussing. It isn't respectful of the office.

Calmly and deliberately we must decide who is the best candidate to lead this country out of the morass created by successive administrations since the later part of the 18th century. Our fall from greatness began approximately 120 years ago with the dawn of progressive ideas which made otherwise intelligent individuals think there is a way in politics to solve the ills of society. He exhibits a marxist approach to all things concerning the country and he is supported by a liberal socialist leaning media that works at spreading the socialist proganda and covering all negatives about Obama. When you add in the public school system's approach to education, you then have to agree with Karl Marx's statement, "students are useful idiots". That system works tirelessly to produce emotional driven young people who cannot make objective decisions.

Both set their sites on the Destruction of this Great NATION. Carter caused the death of some 50 Military in what he told the news media the night before the raid to recover some of our prisioners in Iran. As s Navy Admiral said. Carter could not make a pimple on the ass of a Naval Officer( WE ALL Agree). obama being a dedicated Muslim set his sites on destroying this Christian NATION, by bankrupting us, he is almost there now.. Unlike Alla my GOD tells me not to hate others(which is very hard ) However I will continue to tell others about his Muslim beliefs and how they are determined to kill each and every one of the Christians and Jews of this world. There is a huge difference between Carter and Obama. Carter was a goof ball and had no idea how strange his ideas were and are. Everything Obama does is with a deliberate intent, to cast GOD and JESUS CHRIST, out of America and turn America into a Muslim nation and so far, he has done an excellent job at turning us into a Muslim nation. What he does not know, what he cannot understand, "There is no way to get rid of JESUS CHRIST AND GOD." They are here to stay.

Obama will win a second term because, unfortunately, we've created a society with too many Americans that are corrupted by the promise of getting more for nothing. Deep in their hearts they know it is wrong and unsustainable but our culture of instant gratification leads us to take what we can get now with the hope that someone else will have to foot the bill. How are they different?
Well, I would have to say that the most obvious difference is that Carter was a joke - a bad joke, in poor taste, but a joke, nonetheless; hell, I remember indulging in Carter-bashing in grade school ("... 'cause Jimmy Carter has a way of screwing up the USA!") - while President Downgrade is an insult, plain and simple.
Carter, when he realized he was in way over his head, had the class to at least not seriously approach the 1980 election seriously. Downgrade is evidently oblivious to thendamage he has caused - or is clearly aware of it and thus the most evil man in American Political history.
Carter's eligibility to serve in the Awful Office was never in question; in many quarters today, von Dupnikov is still unaccepted.
Let me think... Y'know, there is something else... I just cannot put my finger on it... should be staring me right in the eye, too...

My early synopsis of the 2012 election is that it could go 1 of 3 ways.
1. Romney is chosen as the canidate and Obama will win. To many voter will come out to vote based on his unstable background. "The devil you know", and, "I didn't vote for either canidate", will be common statements/thoughts.
2. Perry is chosen and Obama has to put up a fight but will just barely win. He will draw more voters than Romney due to his fairly constant stnd on things even if they don't agree with him. However there are more folks in the middle who would vote for Obummer again than for that, "murdering, vacinating, Texan", canidate.
3. Somehow Ron Paul is chosen (Please!) and then the fight will be to close to call. Paul's drug and forgien policy views will alienate some of the Republican core. However, he will pull many more voters from the middle who are upset with the current administration and see him as uncorrupted by the system. All the while continuing to uphold and defend the Constitution as he has for his entire career.

Carter and Obama are different in that the one had a prune-sized brain and a heart as big as all outdoors, and the other has an adequate intelligence and an evil mind (heart). Carter, inept as he was, was NOT trying to destroy (out of hatred of this country) the very country that gave him the opportunity to reach the highest office of this great land. Obama is a sociopath who is hell-bent on destroying everything that makes this the greatest country in the world. Of course, after he's done, he'll still be a wealthy man with a pension and Secret Service protection (at taxpayer expense) for life. You and I (and our grandchildren) will be paying for his crimes against the state forever.

Of course he can. I am consistently amazed at the ability of Republicans to shoot themselves in the foot. Here you have the opportunity to take him on head to head and what will you do? Dither around so as not to make the electorate think you are racist. No, he is incompetent, incapable, and wrong headed. It is time someone told him to his face that he is just plain wrong for this country and to take his brand of socialism to somewhere it is welcome. Not Greece, not Italy, not anywhere it has been tried and failed.

When you prefixed "democratic socialism" with "authoritarian," you created an oxymoron - a self-contradicting expression.
But in doing so, you illustrate the Democratic Party's dilemma when they demand compromise. The Republican Party, so far, has resisted compromising their own democratic/republican principles (found in the Constitution) with the authoritarian measures that Mr. Obama and his Party wish to employ.

Carter was a professing Christian, white, southern with a wife possessing class and he was over his head with the responsibiity of the office. He was surrounded by selected staff who were equally incompetent or worse. Carter who would have been otherwise not electable was elected on a wave of discontent in a knee jerk reaction to the discontent with the previous administration.
Obama, black, mid-western, elected on a wave of discontent with the previous administration who would otherwise not be electable, with a wife who demonstrates enmity toward the USA, who has no class other than that purchased, both of which attended a church for some years, which was lead by a man who demonstrates equal or greater enmity toward the USA. Obama while articulate has a questionable history, shallow experience and demonstrates either a tendency to destroy the USA by design or by incompetence and is not bothered by his and his wife's tendency to present a royal like consumption of taxpayer funds for personal comfort.
In either case we were in trouble with Carter and now with Obama and the likelyhood we'll get out of trouble this time is questionable.

I disagree with your perception that Obama is more inept that Carter. I think that Obama has been quite effective in accomplishing his objectives. The problem is that his objectives are detrimental to this country as we know and love it. He campaigned with promises of bringing about fundamental change, and it was clear to those who paid attention what kind of change he wanted. The problem is that he has been too effective in accomplishing his goals.

0bama's values and objectives match those of many of his constituents who believe that they do not have to accept any personal responsibility for their behavior and the government will stand ready to jump in and bail them out of the resulting negative consequences.
If gamblers were a big democrat voting constituency, 0bama would likely offer to cover any gambling loss with federal handouts.

Carter was well intentioned but over his head. He worked as a peanut farmer and was a governor of a state. Obama has never held a job and never lead people. But, he is lead by many. Among them they are Frank Marshall Davis, bill Ayers, Saul Alynsky, Rev Wright and George Soros.

I disagree with your conclusion that President Obama is more inept than Jimmy Carter.
Both believed that only the government possesses solutions to problems, whereas by contrast Mr. Reagan believed that "government is the problem".
Both men have demonstrated apparent ineptitude on a number of issues, but it is clear that Mr. Obama is determined to accomplish his objectives to destroy the United States as envisioned by our Founders. He has not been inept in this regard. He has fooled far too many citizens for far too long.
I ask God daily to provide us with godly leaders, and I look forward to the day that Mr. Obama leaves the White House as it's resident.

I grew up in Plains, GA often spending time with Jimmy Carter's children who were just a bit younger than I. I was a student in Jimmy Carter's Bible study classes at the age of 10 or 12 at the Plains Baptist Church and can attest that he was indeed of good character. A devout Christian he was but with socialist views which I've failed to understand as I grew older and I now completely disagree with. Somehow he missed in his reading of the Bible that family is to take care of family, that church is to take care of God's children and that government is simply a necessary evil and not the answer to problems the citizens may have - other than protection from military threats. He somehow failed to recognize evil and that a Christian is to 'stampt the dust from their feet' and walk away from those who will not hear the truth.

Carter had some conscience and a lot of his misguided moves were dictated by his religious convictions. Obama is a totally immoral, lying, egotistical narcissist. He has never uttered a word that wasn’t either divisive or a lie. And all, of course, were targeted to reelection, to hell with the country.
His mantra, jobs, jobs, jobs, and yet he kicked the can down the road on the pipeline that would have generated 20,000 jobs. Who was that decision hurting? The middle class working man.

While I hate the idea of him winning, there is a better than 50% chance he will. I believe this because the conservatives are totally under estimating him; just like this article, you are mischaracterizing him as incompetent; he is not. He is in fact a radical socialist who is bent on tearing down and rebuilding an America that we don't want.
The last election cycle you put up John McCain who couldn’t beat George W and now it seems like the republicans are bent on advancing Mitt Romney who couldn’t beat John McCain. Stop recycling non winners.
The two major political parties appear to be incapable of fixing the mess they have created. The only group that seems to stick to principles which puts us a path for a good America is the Tea party. As an independent I blame our government far more than Wall Street. Democrats are ruthless and have a mindset that the end justifies the means; the republicans are weak hypocrites who don’t defend the principals that they claim to believe in.
And both parties seem to think that they can spend more money to get us out of the problems the spending has created, which is total insanity. Unfortunately they have learned that they can spend our money to stay in office. We need to change that and throw everyone out office that has not shown fiscal responsibility.
There have been and are exceptions but rather than supporting these lone wolves you hang them out to dry.

It goes without saying, that Carter was inept. His actions while in office and his subsequent comments all prove that.
I have come to believe that Obama is not only inept but also has an agenda which includes the destruction of our nation. His concealment of his grades while in school tell me that we're probably not dealing with a great brain but rather with someone who is being controlled from the outside. I suspect I know who that person or group of people is and that most thinking people do also. I have come to believe that he is little more than a puppet whose strings are being pulled by one or more of the elite's.
It is truly sad to see how the electorate has been seduced and fooled by a few unscrupulous people. It is even sadder to watch the destruction of a nation that has done so much to lead the world for many years. It is clear that we are leading a nation to our children and grandchildren that is far less than the one we inherited.
Socialism has never worked and never will. Margaret Thatcher summed it up pretty well when she made the statement about how Socialism never works because one soon runs out of other people's money.

Carter was a poor president, but he got a few things right after trying everything else.
Carter abolished the ICC (Interstate Commerce Commission) thereby freeing competition in trucking and rail freight. That was very good for America.
Carter, in the closing days of his administration, appointed Volker to head the Fed, and Volker, with Reagan's support, pulled the plug on the Fed's printing press, thereby ending the Nixon/Ford/Carter inflation and saving the dollar. That was very very good for America.
The peanut subsidies - not so much. How the heck did they ever justify that?

fraud and the stupidity of voters that have no idea

because a percentage of the voting public did not
get a proper education that would alert them to the dire situation this country is now in.

There are severe differences between Obama and Carter, however both are contributing to the failure of the US. One was inept, one is an enemy of the US.
For those of us who were listening in 2008, Obama told us what he wanted to do, and there was enough information out there then to know what he is. I said back then that this man is dangerous to the US. However most voters only listened to the mouthpiece rather than looking at his prior actions and statements.
As we know, the media (also socialist) elected Obama, and they are obviously campaigning again for his re-election.
Carter, I think, was following the democrat/socialist agenda, and was not truly trying to defeat America. He just didn't/doesn't know any better.
Obama is following the democrat/socialist/racist agenda as spewed from his handlers. He is probably more militant against America rather than just "democratic/socialist". Their intent is to destroy our way of life... on purpose.
These people are all enemies of the US. They should all be brought up on charges and put in jail - at the least. The democrats, supreme court justices, federal judges, czars, along with some republicans, all of whom do not follow the Constitution in voting and upholding the laws should be incarcerated.
I just don't understand why the Republican congress-members are complicit with the Obama administration. Why are they not challenging him?
If this country is to survive, we must take a stand now; prosecute them, so that this will never happen again in this country.
As I keep saying, 2012 is too late.
I also make one other prediction - The republicans and Tea Party better prepare for the election by attacking the democratic/socialist platforms, rather than only preparing to defeat Obama. I believe he will not be the one that they will be campaigning against.

Of course Obama can win the White House again and will likely do so. He is the provider of the goodies . . . Uncle Sugar. As long as the Republicans fail to provide a real alternative to run away socialism, the left will remain an active and viable force, even if not in the White House.
George Washington warned us about the evils of "party" and they have come to pass. The establishment, old guard Republican party has ceded the debate on the role of the federal government to the radical left, and consequently, there is no longer a "middle." If you are against the eutopian ideas of the left, you are an ignorant racist. If you support a constitutionally limited federal government, you are an ignorant racist. If you support the concept of federalism, you are an ignorant racist.
If we are stuck with a two-party system, as we seem to be, our only chance is to take back the Republican party from those that want to be "less socialist", and put it in the hands of true "republicans." We need a candidate that is not afraid to drag the debate back to the middle. This candidate will have to fight the socialist media, the leftist establishment and the Republican party leadership.
The odds are against success and I grow more pessimistic with each day and each Republican debate.

Obama most certainly can win the election if the republicans continue to beat each other up, trying to convince the American people that none of them are ready to lead us. Some one from the right needs to start reminding the public why we cannot afford any more Obama and counteract the liberal press that is working so hard to re-elect him. This man is a direct threat to the preservation of our way of life, but all of his opponents are only attacking each other, not the real problem. Someone needs to wake up and start leading the fight to defeat Obama and quit trying to destroy every other candidate. Remember Regan was elected with a large majority and he refused to slander any other party members. He ran against his opponent from the left, who like Obama, had provided so much ready ammunition to fuel an assault.

Realizing Obama gave a national speech on Thanksgiving without ever mentioning God ia all you need to know about this usurper, to understand what his values are about. That, and the fact that he is not "natural born" and knew it, thereby gaining office illegally by violating the Constitution (with collusion of Nancy Pelosi as chairperson of the DNC which certified him for candidacy, knowing he was not eligible) simply stand as the top two reasons he is different from Carter.
Unfortunately, they, at the same timea, lso share the same ineptitude at being a strong President leading the country, and well as egos and vanities that far exceed their abilities.
At least Carter was "his own man", as opposed to Obama, who is a puppet of all of those who had a stong effects upon his life, and has a cabal which has literally be responsible for most of his destructive actions against the well being of our country.
May God once again show us his favor by not letting this man be reelected. Should that happen, I believe it would lead to our ultimate demise. All of us who believe in God should pray for his help and forgiveness not to let this man be reelected.

There is such a difference between actual facts, and then the ones that are clearly 'made up' like the ones presented in this opinion piece.
I am so thankful for the public getting some intelligence back and seeing these talking points for what they are...talking points.
Reagan spent 3 trillion dollars and left Bush I a massive deficit.
Clinton gave Bush II a surplus and a decade of the largest economic expansion the Country has ever seen. Yea, Clinton...not Reagan, created 23 million jobs AND balanced the budget.
After Bush and the Republicans, the auto industry and banking industry were collapsed. We were in the midst of two wars, 911 happened, and the country was shedding 750,000 jobs per month. Not to mention spending an additional 5 trillion dollars.
No man, woman, or God could fix that sort of mess within a few years. We are back on the right path, and hopefully in a few years more and more folks will realize the failurs and devastation that our growing income inequality has caused this nation.
We should all try to live in a 'WE' society instead of a 'ME' society.
Greed has and always will be this country's undoing and in the 80's, under Reagan, the top were much better off and the middle class was on the verge of destruction.
Thanks

Carter was an educated man who was well meaning, but quite inept at doing anything except creating well-intentioned circumstances. While I was in the Navy, Carter's regime instituted a diversity-oriented "racial awareness" program. It was designed to show us that there were differences in people's values and thought processes, among other things. What it did was accentuate the differences and, as all diversity programs, provide for divisiveness between the participating races. For the first time that I can remember, instead of Americans, there were White-Americans, African-Americans, etc.
Obama is an educated man who plays this hyphenated American card to the fullest extent and is creating more divisiveness to further his agenda, which is the bringing down of America.

Obama is NOT INCOMPETENT. Obama is accomplishing his objectives. They just weren't the ones of most Americans. His campaign website in 2007, in the top right hand corner, said (condensed version) he would overturn the foundations of this nation...that it would be painful for a while; but, to hang in there with him and it would get better. So, he has changed the medical world, he has changed the banking world, he has changed the auto manufacturing world, he has changed the energy production world...taking us further from a self sufficient country to one dependent on its enemies, he has changed the definition of marriage, he has changed the military's view on homosexuality, he has changed the military from a fighting machine to a social needs provider, he has dumbed down NASA to ending its discoveries for the US to assisting enemy nations to improve their self esteem over their science, he has taken down the influence of Christianity, he is attacking capitalism and trying take America into socialism and communism, he is ignoring the constitution and the laws of the land. He said he would be transparent; but, he has continued the Washington corruption on a larger scale than anyone else has ever done. He truly is a "Citizen of the World" which is how he referred to himself in a speech made in Amsterdam prior to his election to the presidency. I truly believe that our very foundation of life hangs in the balance-with Obama we will disintergrate into communist/socialist slavery. OUR ONLY HOPE RIGHT NOW IS TO ELECT A REAL CONSERVATIVE PRESIDENT.........AND A CONSERVATIVE CONGRESS. Even if all our wants and wishes were to be granted, we still face a very hard fight against the VERY corrupt press and the VERY corrupt federal reserve system--they are the ones pulling the "strings"/ WE NEED A RESTORATION OF all things-we will be free or die...God help us to choose the right.

Despite Obama's current low ratings, once party loyalty, mainstream media support, induced class envy, mud slinging, voter fraud, and the 35% socialistic/communistic/parasitic population are all factored in, he still has a better than 50% chance at reelection.
Many conservative hating leftsts may be dissattisfied with some of his policies and performance, but their hatred of Republicans will not allow them to vote for a Republican.

Yes, Hussein will be re-elected! The National Socialist Party (a.k.a. Democratic Party) has slowly, patiently since the 1930s built an entitlement-based constituency that in 2008 became the majority of voters.
Pre-2008 America and its work-ethic values are gone.

Obama should not win again ... unless the Republican Party (conservatives & patriots included) screw things up by nominating the wrong candidate. There comes a time when we have to stop saying "I'll go with the lessor of the evils because he can get elected over Obama." The great Silent Majority of this country is ready for an honest, intelligent, experienced, conservative candidate who is ethical and does not have a ton of baggage to overcome. One by one we see these candidates fall by the wayside as they get uncovered as moderates or have other deep flaws that prevent them from being acclaimed as someone worthy of being our President. Finally, under the radar, as they say, comes the stealth candidate who has what we really need in terms of harsh medicine that is required to get our house in fiscal order. That man is Ron Paul. Patriot Post needs to reevaluate their selection criteria and get behind what we need ... not stretch out the continued search for someone that matches your vision 100%, but someone who can get the job done.

Whereas, Obozo wants to bring down the USA and has no love for this country what so ever; he despises what it stands for. I served under Jimmy Carter. He was a disaster, weakening our military to the point of severity. He was so inept that the standing joke among the military was, if the Russians called on the Red Phone and told Carter to surrender, he might. Make no mistake Obama is much more dangerous than Jimmy Carter. Because from all of what I have read about him, he does not like America, he even resented his mother because she was white and he resents whites plain and simple. Obama views the U.S. a rogue elephant who needs to be taken to her knees and a military that has grown too powerful and the American military machine needs to be dismantled. No suprises with this guy, just do some reading and learn how many of his closest advisors have ties to the Communist Party. Alot of people call Obama a Socialist, don't we wish that was all he was. When Obama had the bust of Winston Churchill returned was a huge insult to one our closest allies, but when you have studied Obama, you can understand his disdain of the West in general as well as contempt for the country that has done everything for him. Someone recently asked me after serving 26 1/2 years if I would do it again. Absolutely but let me preface that, but not since Obama has been President, I am totally disappointed and ashamed that a person of his background and associates found his way to the highest office of the U.S.

Obama stews about injustices that he never personally experienced and feeds his warped worldview by withdrawing into a "smaller and smaller coil of rage." He lives with a "nightmare vision" of black powerlessness.
Obama says that the hate doesn't go away. "It formed a counter-narrative buried deep within each person and at the center of which stood white people -- some cruel, some ignorant, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives." No matter how much of this hatred was influenced by his father and others, it was further learned at the church he chose to attend for 20 years.

The difference between Carter and Obama is simply that Carter was a leftwing extremist President who believed his Social Justice efforts would work. Obama is a Progressive Liberal Communist who hates America and is systematically and intentionally using the Cloward-Piven methodology to overload and collapse the U.S. monetary system and reducing America to a third world country with a president-for-life dictator.
This destruction of the American monetary system is achieved by reducing jobs while simultaneously increasing entitlements to where over 50% of the pupulation is almost totally dependent on the government for their survival. Who do you think they will vote for. By the way, we are now at almost 50% of the population on the government doll!

I disagree that the Kenyan marxist is "incompetent". My perception is that he entered the office with the goals of destroying the American middle class, rendering our military incapable of sustaining a war and reducing our economy and standard of living to those of a third world nation. He is well on the way to achieving all three. it is not incompetence that is driving the results of this administration but rather the willful actions to destroy the country.

The comparison is unfair to Carter. Carter while inept at least had the the American spirit and even though a Democrat he would never dream of turning the United States into a typical Socialist country in which the government knows best and can control all of our thoughts and actions.
Obama, through his background from his mother and farther, his grandparents and uncle Fred as well as his Chicago church and the usual Socialist thinking associates and professors, seems to believe that a Socialist government is best and if congress is standing in the way of achieving it,use Executive orders and run away commissions and agencies to accomplish it. Our founders formed the country to do away with strong central government control and here we are in 2011 returning to it. So much for a government of the people, be the people and for the people.

If we want to defeat Obama we need to publish and air his own words in his own voice. All the money in his campaign war chest can't help him if the American people see and hear for themselves the un-edited, without the teleprompter, version of who he really is, and what he stands for. Obama, on the other hand, is treacherous. He knows the seeds must be planted, then nourished to grow a socialist/marxist society anxious to be controlled by a regime determined to rob us of our freedoms one by one. Obama heralds big government as the solution to all problems. He destroys private enterprise as a hobby and gives the spoils to his loyal union minions.
He chooses the worst traits of mankind and trumpets them as tolerant and all inclusive. We must accept the perversion of open homosexuality or we are homophobic. We must accept that all corporations are inherently evil or we are blind. We must accept that the rich got rich by stealing from the poor or we are stupid and uninformed.

Only God knows where and into what culture Obama was born and to what values he adheres, beside Socialism, Communism and the Gay lifestyle Certainly Carter was at best inept, at worst stupid and arrogant. Obama demonstrates a total disregard for American values, adhere to some of the very worst and most disgusting practices known to man. He too is an arrogant and narcissistic atheist possessing no Chroistian charity or love of God.He must be IMPEACHED, and not allowed to retire on our dime with the undeserved honor of ex-president and a lifetime retirement of $199, 000 plus benefits. Jimmy Carter gave us trucking and airline deregulation. He also appointed Paul Volcker to the Fed who did the hard work of wringing double-digit inflation out of the economy much to Reagan's (and America's) benefit. Hard to imagine Obama doing either of those things.

Of course he can win ... those dependent on government handouts are not likely to vote against the man who wants them to continue, or make them even juicier ... there are millions of illegals who, if Obama has his way, will be standing in line with you at the polling places ... and even if he's convinced to step down, the spectre of Hillary stands in the wings, just waiting to ride in on her broom to continue Obama's good works ... if a Republican doesn't win the presidency next year, we are doomed; this country will slide down the tube greased by Rome, Sparta, Spain and even the U.K., and the dreams we've shared for so long will be gone. If I believed in God, I'd say God help us ... but we need to help ourselves and make sure that Obama and the Democrats are sent packing ...

Yes he will because there will be enough stupid and ignorant Americans who will vote for this socialist radical because he will pander to the 'entitlist' mentality of the leeches in our country. It will be the last nail in the coffin for America. As Norman Mattoon Thomas stated in 1944 when he addressed the nation while running for President,"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of "liberalism", 'they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened'. 'I no longer need to run as a Presidential candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform.'

It is obvious to all that if the Democratic party does not carry the black vote it will never win another election. By contrast if the Republican party does not carry the conservative vote it will not win another election. Barack Obama has the black vote. Can the Republicans produce a candidate that the conservatives can back? If not, Obama has his second term.

Carter was totally inept, but was seen at least as a man of integrity and honestly- albeit honestly wrong. Obama, however, has displayed the fact that he is ruthless, self-absorbed, and will not let any moral scruples get in the way of his quest for a second term. He is a true student of Saul Alinsky, and so he will use all means at his disposal to destroy anybody and any thing that gets in the way of this goal. That could never be said of Carter.

I believe Jimmy Carter had done some real work prior to serving as president. Carter had allegedly been a peanut farmer. Obama has only sucked off the government teat, voting "Present" as his wife sucked even harder, doing nothing more than bringing government money in to the hospital where she sat.
Obama is by far the most narcissistic, pompous ass ever to occupy the Oval Office.

Carter was quite inept. Obama has been quite successful (aided by ultra liberal Senators) carrying out his agenda. What would he do differently if he were a closet Islamist out to bring down this country and hence the Western world? Example of his perfidy--When and where did he convert to Christianity from the Moslem belief? If he did why was there not a fatwa issued calling for his death as an infidel as required by Sharia Law?

The big mistake that they have in common is that they think government is the answer. Albert Einstein said it best : Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is insanity.

Carter was inept certainly, but not maliciously evil. Barak Obama's designs are the dismantling of the Republic. Carter's personal philosophy was a misguided application of the Social Gospel of the 1800s. Barak Obama's personal philosophy is the deliberate application of facism/statism. Carter was wrong in his efforts to use the federal government in place of individuals & private organizations in the relief of human suffering, but at least he was wrong honestly. Barak Obama deliberately dishonest about his positions on issues and objectives in office.

Can Obama win a second term? I believe he can. The GOP is in disarray, has no real Constitution/Rule of law candidate, and has the Liberal left media against it. In addition, the number of voters(legal and illegal) that are on entitlements combined with the brain washed out number those that truely care for our country and freedom as it was laid out by our founding fathers.
Yes, he can win.

The only difference is the color of their skin and Obama’s inflated ego. Carter was passive to the level of weakness and Obama is bullish on socialism. Both are equal on increasing the power of the government and both made bad decisions on foreign policy and the economy. Both have terrible problems on damage control and it’s usually damage that was caused by their own policies. Both will share the top ten worst presidents list and their failed policies will be the only thing they will be remembered for.

Carter meant well. He was wrong on many points, but he had good intentions. He seemed to think he could smile and talk his way to peace with enemies.
Obama is stupid if he has good intentions. I don't think he is stupid, so I must therefore say and believe that he - on purpose - is trying his best to wreck and weaken this great nation. The GOP has almost begged him to lower taxes, stop the gross spending, and cut regulations; but he goes on as if deaf. He has stopped or hindered Oil drilling, which will hurt the economy. If he had just compromised a little with the GOP, by cutting taxes, and regulations, plus making the Bush tax cuts permanent, then he would probably be sure of a second term victory. But he is so obsessed with his agenda, he is willing to risk being a one term president, rather than compromise. Therefore he is in a sense, not a failure, because he is fighting hard for his flawed program, and making great "progress" in his eyes. Our nation may not be able to survive a second Obama term. Almost half of voters do no now pay income tax. After a second Obama term, suppose that number of non-tax paying voters grows to 55 or 60%, then it just might be impossible for a Conservative to win in Congress or the White House, because so many voters will be voting for the Liberals to keeping handing out the dole to them. Some in the GOP are saying that if their man (for example, Ron Paul) is not the nominee, then they will not vote; and if many have that attitude, it could well give us the curse of another Obama term. There is no perfect person running, but all of them are at least a hundred times better than Obama. Please vote for the GOP nominee, and don't risk another four years of Obama destruction to our economy and freedoms.

Obama and Carter are different in that Jimmy Carter just believed in the big government tax and spend agenda. However, Obama uses some of the same strategies but his goals are different. Carter did not hate America and did not want to bring her to her knees. Obama was raised by his father to hate America and Great Brittan. He has taken every wrong turn you can take as a president but gets a pass from the lame steam media every time! Four more years of Obama and a weak political driven do nothing congress will seal Americas fate for the many years to come if not forever!

Interesting that you should compare Obama with Carter. I was just thinking about a contrast of leadership under similar circumstances - Ronald Reagan vs. Obama. You can make a strong argument that President Reagan inherited a worse economy from Carter than Obama did from President Bush. If I remember correctly, When Mr. Reagan took office we had double digit inflation and unemployment. Interest rates on 30 year mortgages were near 20%. Yes, President Reagan didn't spend taxpayers money to "stimulate" the economy, he lowered the marginal tax rates and got government out of the way of the American people. By his third year in office, the economy was well the way to recovery.

Obama is a product of people who held no allegiance or love for any country, only themselves. Somewhere along the way, someone convinced him that he was smart, eloquent and persuasive enough to be a leader. They lied to him. He cant give a speech without reading it and is easily bufooned by placement of an incorrect word in the sentence he is reading.
Obama holds no feelings that could be called "core values" because he has always been told what to think and what to say.
Sad thing is: once he is no longer President of the USA, he will likely be placed in some position in the United Nations where he will continue his assault against the USA and other free countris.
That a nobody, an invented man with no provable past; could be elected President is an indictment of the entire electoral process in the USA. Iraq has a better system with paper ballots and purple ink on the thumb!

Carter was an idealistic Bozo who thought that his Kumbaya mentality could be foisted on the rest of the world. His world-view was through the lens of the American attitude; he failed to understand that the enemies he faced (Islamists-The same ones we face today) were basically uncivilized saveges and should have been dealt with on the terms of the savage, not those of enlightened civilization.
Obama, on the other hand, IS a Muslim Manchurian Candidate,NOT an inept bungler. He was groomed somewhere during the years he was allegedly at Columbia to become the President and destroy America from within. In this capacity he has proven frighteningly competent and if, God help us, he is re-elected this country is over. Eisenhower won The War – world respect, suburbia and full employment was the reward.
Nixon brought China into the 20th century and made them a valuable trading partner. His domestic policies were also pragmatic and conservative. Inflation was not a concern.
The Ford administration was weak, non-eventful and perhaps conditioned the East in believing that America was getting weak.
Carter was intelligent (worked in developing our nuclear submarine fleet) and was a good business man, but when he began to serve as President, he surrounded himself with inept and naive good ole boy advisors.
His domestic and foreign policies led to gasoline and oil shortages, deterioration of consumer confidence, and inflation that saw mortgages higher than 16%, and commercial loans greater than 23%.
His administration inferred that they may freeze prices, so the manufacturers of hard goods (farm, industrial and construction equipment) increased their prices in excess of 25%; and then provided “rebates” to bring the prices back to the current levels. This is when the rebate programs began.
His was an administration of mistakes, bad financial advisors, and weak military.
Obama is purposeful in his actions. All of his advisors are agenda driven.
He wants Americans to suffer because it is wrong for Americans to have, and the rest of the world is lacking. Americans are not unique or exceptional, they are just lucky and privileged. If it wasn’t for a strong government, no one would prosper.
He is anti God / anti free market, and anti American.
The sooner he is out of office, and has no power the better.

First, it just wears me out to hear and read accusations about one candidate over another. Can we just let the selection process proceed?
I will support and vote for whatever candidate runs against Obama.
Obama's values center around himself. His biggest mistake is that he believed all his press before he was (s)elected. He is an ideologue whose primary desires are (1) gain more power for himself, (2) gain more power for the party that will help him gain more power for himself, (3) take the prescribed steps already outlined by his party (Dem. or CPUSA? Both?) to pull down the United States without arousing too much suspicion -- just enough to get by and at the same time accomplish destructive goals, (4) grow the size of government so that as many people can become dependent upon the National (formerly Federal) government as possible, (5) gain control of industry, (6) pull down the wealthy class and at the same time agitate/propagate among the poor a hatred for the wealthy, thus collapsing the middle class, and creating a subservient proletariat under the control of a Politburo (the new "peerage"), destroy the family and erase all morality, making it subject to the state . . .
Essentially, he is a fraud, a "ringer" brought in to do the dirty work the progressives, Left, and other communists and anarchists have desired and planned for 100 years. His ideals are based on self and humanism (man becomes his own god).

To answer the question as to how Carter "The Inept" and Obama "The Communist" are different is to compare a well-meaning cretin to evil incarnate. It all comes down to the desired results. Carter wanted a nation loved by one and all. Obama wants a nation brought down to the level of Zimbabwe and a populace holding their begging cups "hoping" the state can drop a little "change" in their vessels.

If their be an anti-Christ who will one day rise; depending on your interpretation of prophecy, President Obama is made of the material Satan is looking for in a ruthless, heartless and narcissist dictator. There is nothing in him that would deny Satan that opportunity. Is he the anti-christ now? No! Could he become the anti-christ? It is possible. Whether he does or doesn't I beleive we are getting a preview of the kind of material the anti-christ will be made of. God ultimately holds the cards that will unleash the tribulation. There are many in the world who are anxious for such a man and have been hoping to find him for decades. If he suddenly becomes many times more eloquent and charasmatic without a teleprompter something has taken place. Those who read this comment and claim Christ must take notice how thiRev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Hello America,
Both Carter and Oama are socialists at two different degrees. Carter believed he was helping the country in his ineptness. Unfortunately for us, in liberal fashion as he downgraded the military, a common liberal conundrum, he promoted big government social programs. His downfall was the hostage situation in Tehran.
Obama's socialism is in the definition of Marxism. Coupled with his Muslim leanings and love affair with America's enemies the Islamists. The Bama's intentions was always to run the country into rut we find ourselves under his leadership. The White House is party central, Air Force One is the Bam and the Bama momma 'Meshell My Gal's own tour of the hot spot vacation destinations of the world at taxpayer expense. He is not only incompetent he is waste of humanity in his position. The destruction of America is intentional with the Jeremiah Wright Marxist disciple.

As far as differences between Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama go, I think they are significant.
Carter came from an intact family, and knew his legally married father. Barack Sr. was a notorious womanizer, who had never bothered to divorce his previous wife before marrying Stanley Ann Dunham. There are reports he also had a wife in the Philippines. He never seems to have taken an interest in his son.
There has never been a question of whether Jimmy Carter qualifies as a "natural born citizen."
Jimmy Carter had a security clearance.
Jimmy Carter served honorably in the U.S. military.
Mrs. Carter was not ashamed of America prior to her husband being elected president.
Jimmy Carter didn't blame his predecessor for every problem he faced as president.
Jimmy Carter didn't authorize a personal staff of personal assistants for his wife.
Jimmy Carter didn't create new Czar jobs without the authorization of Congress.
Jimmy Carter was a businessman before becoming president, and actually held a real job before having his own business.
People know something about Jimmy Carter's background and activities.
Jimmy Carter didn't go to court to prevent people from knowing about his personal education and history.
Jimmy Carter has been known to work with his own hands to help those less fortunate.
I think Carter's foreign policy was very ineffective, but he was nowhere near the disaster of Barack Obama. Obama's reading a "toast" from Shakespeare during the UK national anthem was simply incredible. What was he thinking? Probably that his was a really neat toast and everyone would think he was brilliant. Obama, as always, thinks it's all about him. I cannot see Jimmy Carter thinking that way. And,while I am not a fan of his presidency, but I think he is an American, and a decent man who cares about America.

Let float a theory. What if there is not an election next year. There are currently executive orders in place regarding how to control the population during an emergency. What if they devalue the currency, shut down the banks, declare a national emergency, and then he just becomes king and dictator. Stranger things have happened, and he has certaily shown no reticense about running over and around the Constitution and the Congress to try and accomplilsh what he wants. Just asking.

At this time we can't afford any what if's. What we need is to get this unqualified idiot out of the W/H and the sooner the better.
The one in the W/H should never have been put there in the first place, his agenda is what has helped to cause so much damage to this country and our economy. All one needs to do or should do is look at the state of things at this time and what they were 5 years ago.
For insistence when bush was in office gas was around $1.79 a gallon now at this time it is close to $.00 dollars a gallon. Can this country stand another term with this pres. I think not. He has done end run upon end run around the CONSTITUTION time and time again. He has already said that the Constitution is no longer needed and that a new one needs to be written for today. He has broken the law so many times that had this been any other president they would have been impeached and then imprisoned for life. he has been on at least 2 occasions introduced as either king obama or prince obama. this type of thinking has to be stopped. He has shown hatred of this country and every thing that this country stands for, He has made a mockery not only of our laws but of this Nation as well. He has even gone so far as to throw a foreign law in our faces with this islamic law. I pose this question. HOW MUCH MORE CAN WE TAKE BEFORE A CIVIL WAR BREAKS OUT?

Your reference to Obama's "atheist mother" smacks of a canard. I have little doubt that this was a dysfunctional family, and that his mom was a piece of work. None of that has to do with her atheism.
I mention it because, while I highly value the Patriot Post and largely agree with it, there is still more than a whiff of anti-atheist bigotry here.
Atheists are patriots, serve in the military, and make good parents. If you have a political point to make about Obama or anybody else that's fair game. Atheism is *not* politics.
Many of the founding fathers were religious, running the gamut from Christians to Deists. They were extremely wise to set up a secular government. Atheists have every reason to celebrate that, and the religious should be even more grateful for a secular government.

Carter was, and is, a misguided Liberal (aren't they all) but, a decent man I still believe.
Obama is an unapologetic Radical whose politics are a disturbing amalgam from many ideologies; Marxist, Socialist, Hippie, Liberation Theology, Chicago Thug Politician, Community (Union) Organizer, and yes, Communist - you name it, if it is of the Left this President will embrace it. A dangerous mixture for someone who openly admits he wants to "fundamentally" change this country. Nevertheless, Obama is as veiled about his substantive political beliefs as one can imagine. If this Nation survives, future Historians will openly wonder why BHO was not tried for treason. If he prevails, those future generations will be silenced, never appreciating the Freedom lost and condemned to a life of servitude. He is far worse than simply incompetent.

Obama stands a very good chance of obtaining a second term - during which he will destroy the remains of this nation. This will come about because the Republican candidates cannot seem to get their act together. Instead of focusing on what is wrong with the country, there are hell bent on finding & picking at the faults of the other candidates. Instead of trying to fight among themselves or find ways to 'cooperate' with the Democrats, one good candidate MUST come forward who is more interested in shutting down ALL of the bureacracy that is not authorized in the Constitution. Instead of saying, "it can't be done" or "it will harm/destroy the fragile economy", it is time to at least put forth the effort to start the ball rolling. Even if success cannot be achieved in one or two terms, making an truly honest, valiant start will do a whole lot more than doing nothing.
Can/will Obama obtain a second term? Absolutely, as long as the US citizens are more excited to keep all of the countless 'gimmees' & 'handouts' that continue to violate the Constitution, there is no other choice. After all, a vote for someone who will merely continue the status quo is the same as voting for Obama!

Carter, as stated in the essay, was well-intentioned, but totally inept. He put his trust in all of the wrong things, and did nothing good for the country. His "Christianity" is dubious as well, focused on works rather than faith and fundamental values.
Barrack Hussein Obama, on the other hand, is driven by one value - that of Barrack Hussein Obama. His stated intentions are to "fundamentally transform" America - not a return to the values of the founders, but to those of his controlling, globalist, elitist ilk.
I do not believe B.H.O. to be "totally incompetent" - I believe he is accomplishing exactly what he set out to do.

I think we need to put our collective heads together to come up with a new job that suits B.O., for when he is defeated in 11 months. Maybe like algore, B.O. can make science fiction movies? Or like Bill, we can send him on special missions to hostile lands, maybe start with Mars? Jimmy Carter worked with Habitat for Humanity. Maybe B.O. could start up Habitat for Occupy. That would help get them off the street...

The absolute truth is that Obama is totally dedicated to driving this nation into a pure markist/socialist state. If one would read a book entitled "The Naked Communist" you'd see that what he has done, is doing and plans to continue on with until we see the last of him.
Every catastrophic move he has made; and there have been many which have positively disenfranchised the Constitution of the United States as our nation's guiding principles. He is the frontspiece of a large and very wealthy organization that is dedicated to the overthrow of the Capitalistic System practiced in the USA.
Comparing Obama to Carter is doing a disservice to Carter. Although totally inept as a President and even more so as an "Ambassador At Large", Carter did not have the destruction of our way of life, our values, our dedication to this nation and certainly did not try to cast out God, Obama has done all that and more.
The choice is simple. Get Obama out of our Government altogether. If we wait for November 2012, it may just be too late to stem the communist/socialist tide.

Barrack Hussein Obama has NO values, at least not what most Americans would consider to be values.
B.H.O. values: The power of Chicago politics; The power of destroying America; The power of using the race card at will; The backing of a left-wing, Anti-American press; The opportunity afforded by a weak RINO as the only opposition to his glide to the highest office in the U.S.; and an unending narcissistic belief in himself as the Marxist/Muslim conqueror of the "Great Satan".

It is unfortunate that he can get another term. I believe that he was in office too long within the first four seconds after his inauguration. That is my opinion of the job he has done to date. He has Marxist (communist) leanings. He has surrounded himself with people of questionable character. Therefore, he is one of them.

The only difference between Carter and Obama is their openess about who they are. Carter couldn't come right out and push for his true agenda. It was a different time. Now Obama comes along with lots of communists in the Congress. Communism and Socialism are no longer as forbidden as these forms of political persuasion were during the Carter years. It is still a mystery to me that apparently a majority of the voters ignored Obama's objectives which he clearly stated long before he was elected President. Well, I am sure there were a lot of voters who knew and voted for him for that very reason...those voters are the ones who hate the U.S. But the rest...I can't believe they actually wanted to destroy our way of life; the voted for change without really understanding just what that meant. Why can't we pass a law that requires a voter to pass a test that demonstrates his knowledge of the Constitution and what it means?

Carter was (and still is) an incompetent boob with socialist leanings, but he is an American and a Christian who loves his country. Obama is not American in any way and wants to destroy it so it can be built back up as a communist/socialist nation based on European standards. The only reason he attended a Christian church (Rev. Wright's) for 20 years was so he could make connections and enjoy anti-American rants from the pulpit.

jimmy Carter had and has a strong belief in God and I believe that he at least asked God for help.
Through his actions, it would appear that Obama considers himself above asking a benevolent Father in Heaven for any help. Thus, he obviously has not and will not receive any help. It is indeed a frightening situation to find at the head of our country, founded upon a strong belief in God, is now led by one who continually does everything he can do to eliminate any connection to this God of our Founding Fathers.

I love your simile, but I must disagree with your conclusion as an over-broad generalization. When you wash a window, you do not generally scrub one corner sparkling clean , then smash the glass and replace it all. You continue scrubbing until the window is done. We cleaned up one corner of Congress in 2010. We need to continue cleaning next year, and we won't be done then. If we smash the glass, how do we know we will get anything better?
Now in the Executive branch, it's a much different story. It's not enough to clean out the White House. We have to replace or eliminate entire agencies. We have to do a lot of voter education before we get a Congress that make that happen.l

Carter also had to deal with George HW Bush stabbing him in the back from his perch in the CIA. The Iranian hostage crisis that so marred Carter's tenure was a result of destabilization created by Bush's agent provacatures in Iran trying to bring down Iraq. Then Bush brings us a crack epidemic in his Iran-Contra drugs for guns for missiles scheme that Ollie North took the fall for. Nothing has hurt more Americans in the last century than crack cocaine. Reagan turned his back on America when the scandal broke to protect his vice President. I loved Reagan until he failed us by not holding Bush accountable. Just say no? Well, unless you have lots of influence. Bush lite? Gimme a break. That criminal MasterTard took a surplus and gave us the most rapidly declining economy in recent history. And for what? More of the same. Afghani opium and Iraqi oil. The only benefit we have seen is more kids on heroin and methadone. Carter is, and always has served the people. Reagan, Bush, and ditto only served themselves and their cronies. Obama is not doing well trying to dig out from under Bushes mound of debt and financial crimes. But there is NO candidate running who has any chance to fix America. I know Newt. He is not a moral man and if elected will keep America involved in some costly Conflict just to keep Lockheed and others of the military industrial complex getting paid. Comparison of Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama is easy: Jimmy Carter attended the U.S. Naval Academy, was a successful officer particularly schooled in nuclear technology, was a successful farmer and the 39th President of the United States. He may have been inept but only because he didn't have a grasp of the Washington reins and leverage of power. Barack Obama's background is still in dispute and he was a community organizer in Chicago. He understands politics immensely but he's totally bereft of any concept of leadership preferring instead to shine a spotlight called blame.

I wish I truly knew what Obama's values are. And I wish I knew if HE knew what his values were. Power, manipulation, control, supression, seem to be his goals. Is he truly a gut level socialist/communist, or is he being manipulated himself to these goals? -- his narcissistic need for adulation and recognition has been fed by his position. Has he been propelled to the presidency to accomplish the destruction of our nation?
He appears to me to be an empty suit, blown about by a deeper agenda held by more powerful and intelligent men who truly wish to destroy America as a republic. The alternative is that he is a destructive and immoral man. And both may be true.

Jimmy Carter while a failure on many levels as our President was consistantly a man of strong religious convictions, who faithfully served our nation in the US Navy and commanded a nuclear submarine for a time. His post-presidency activity while at times vocally leftist is still filled with service to others including building homes for the homeless.
Obama on the other-hand is a man at best described as "adrift".
- His 20 year experience of "Black Liberation Theology" as espoused by Rev Wright is an aboration, even though Obama seems to have not heard anything.
- His selection for friends can best be described as radical Anti-American, including such people as Bill Aires who participated in killings and bombings as part of his violant anti americanism past.
- Obama's weak background as a low level Associate Professor who was unpublished and unremarkable in his efforts even as the much bally-hoo of the Community organizer, contrast mightly to Carter's military service.
- While spouting teleprompter phrases of jobs efforts he has very well killed off Gulf Oil Drilling and the now the Gas Line construction from the Canadian fields...missing an opportunity to create jobs. So I guess in that way he is like Carter who had gas / Opec issues in '73.
- Carters's self improvement, education and background speak loudly of the American Experience of Opportunity and contrast to Obama's self(?) documented praise of a Father arrested by the British Gov't as a Marxist. Or of his own self loathing of things American.
All-in-All I would agree that much like the often used disparagment of the "drunken sailor", the same applies to Obama's horrible performance of character and leadership as inflicted thus far makes Carter seem so much better.

Yes, Obama can and most likely will be re-elected. He will be elected by the constituencies in which he and his socialist pals have engendered a fierce loyalty to him and his administration's policies, i.e. those on the government dole, turf/benefit protectionist unions, and the growing ranks of the unemployed, all of whom fear losing benefits. In my opinion, the republicans have a chance only if Gingrich becomes the republican nominee, and then only if Obama agrees to Newt's seven, three hour debate format. Should this occur, clear distinctions between the liberal vs conservative philosophies will be drawn and presented to the electorate. Then hopefully, people would understand and choose the right path for America.

Part of the problem in this country deals with the fact that this country was founded by christian people. The problem being a lack of underdtanding what the word "Christian" implys.Simply put,a Christian is a person who follows the teachings of Jesus Chirst. Jesus Christ is the saviof of mankind.Your choice to believe and follow Christ is between you and Christ and neither Myself nor anyone else knows the convictions of your heart. On the other hand ,to be a Christian,to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ would and does mean that you cannot acceppt, agree with or support someone or some party whose platform supports abortion.homosexuality, feminism and the wellfare .Thus salvation and the so called christian life are two seperate definitions. This ,in short,is why politicians such a problem with Christianity. They simplt don't understand the concept or the Christian world view.

Both are terrible presidents, but Carter I don't believe was a Marxist, as Obama is. If the American public does not wake up to the danger we are all in, due to the proflilgate spending of the past thirty years, this nation is headed for the ash heap of history.

Carter was well-intentioned, a nice guy, but misguided in some respects and quite inept. He continues to be misguided in regards to Israel. He has done admiral work with Habitat, and should stick to that and keep his mouth shut on politics and international affairs. Obama has no appreciation for America's uniqueness, has no love for this country and has no core values unless they be socialist/Marxist. He is a Muslim sympathizer while denigrating Christianity. He is severely lacking in leadership and statesmanship qualities. He either has no clue on the economy or is deliberately destroying it so that he and his cronies can "fundamentally change America". I strongly suspect it is the latter, unfortunately.

Obama's values? You mean those of a drunken Marxist, an uncaring communist mother, a radical terrorist, a bogus, racist preacher, a group of criminal community organizers (ACORN), a gaggle of criminal Chicago politicians, the traitor Saul Alinsky, or those of his fellow travelers in the Democraptic party? Or all of the above?

At the rate the GOP is wavering between old and older men, He's a shoe-in. If the GOP keeps nominating the "good old boys" of the party it's a given that these guys have no appeal to Joe average. The GOP needs to find a younger candidate with good credentials.
Herman Cain has the best background to lead the country and had appeal but the mainstream media has taken care of that.
The young brainless voters who got him into office will vote for BHO again.

Obama is not incompetent. He is accomplishing exactly what he said he would with his absurd antics creating diversion while quietly destroying the middle class Alinski style. Do you have any reason to assume the 2012 Presidential election will not be literally stolen? How can Obama have worthwhile values that can be positive for the American people when he sat front row center in a church where hatred of whites and America was spewed week after week. He sat there taking it all in and couldn't help but learn negativity from those lessons. He even stated that the preacher was a mentor to him. Then during his presidential campaign the "mentor" said something that shocked the American people and Obama turned around and said this man has no and never had any influence in how he thought or acted. How can we believe that values learned all those years are suddenly changed because the man that taught him from the pulpit is now in disfavor with the political party Obama represents? Please! His values have been obvious from the start and they are not healthy for america.

The main difference is that Carter was born in the USA and he is not a muslim. Both hate America as we have known it and both want to ignore the Constitution and turn us into a socialist state. Carter is a dolt, but Obama is right on his schedule of "transforming" America. They are perfect examples of how liberalism is destroying this once great nation.

No second term for Obama if the conservative leadership stiffens their backbone and exposes all of the 'usurpers' disregard for the US Constitution.
When Obama is investigated for the stimulus money that has been funneled into his campaign account and other dubious activities are exposed. Then the American public will awaken to the crooked form of leadership this current administration espouses.
Now is the time for transparency and airing of the many deceitful actions taken by the Democrats to destroy the character of challengers to the "One"!

It isn't a question of whether Obama can win a second term. It's a fact that if the Republican party doesn't put someone 'up to the plate' that is worth listening to AND believing in, Obama is "guaranteed" a second term. To lead us all down the road of ruination.

The difference is that Carter was just a liberal, Mr. BO ran for office to do exactly what he has done, everything he can to ruin this nation. It's all been on purpose, not 'he doesn't know what he is doing'!! He is anti-Amnerican!!! I said before he was elected that he would do as much damage as quickly as possible as he could to our nation - if he gets 4 more years the USA will not exist, don't know what it will be called, but it won't be the USA!!

He can and I fear he will. Partly because of the socialized constituency that you mention. But more importantly because of the lack of Republican (with a capital R) leadership and conviction. Any chance for real change seems to be a very slim with the current choices for a Republican candidate. While there is much talk from the Republican candidates about what is wrong with our current policies and the socialized agenda that Obama is forcing on us all, there seems to be no one with the real vision and conviction that was so evident in the life of Ronald Reagan. You see, conviction is doing what you believe to be right, not what will win you an election. And while some of the candidates seem to say the right stuff I believe they will not hold up under political pressures because it is not their conviction. Where is the Republican candidate that we so desparately need today that has CONVICTIONS?

I have no doubt that Obama will be re-elected. That said, I am profoundly disappointed in all of the Republican candidates who can't figure out how to articulate an economic recovery plan, a leadership plan, and even a decent domestic policy. How does one stop this nonsense? I will vote for the Republicans, but that will not be the majority. The Democrats have figured out how to use the web, twitter, facebook, and all the other social media that attracts the young. There has been no accountability for an absent media in the dissection of the left's failures. The only thing coming from the mainstream is how bad racist, selfish, and evil conservatives are for our country. Millions of people trust the news, and it is still untrustworthy. We who read this post regularly are the minority and that does not bode well. We have failed to articulate the basics to those on the fence. A country is great as long as she is good and she will cease being great when she ceases being good. (I wasn't the first to say the above, it was de Tocqueville while visiting the US for Louis court.) We are not good today and therefore we are no longer great. We have allowed an apologist into our government who only has one agenda, the destruction of our greatness. It is sad, but at least since I said it early, Obama will be re-elected so the question is what are we the people going to do to respond.

A comparison between Jimmy Carter and Obama matters not to me. Carter and his impact are history.
Obama, however is another story. Comparing him to what is expected and required as President is current and certainly pertinent.
Obama is clearly imcompent in terms of his ability to lead this country effectively. More importantly, I am convinced that he and his policies place our country in the most dangerous position in our nations history. His retoric is virtually 180 degrees from his actions. His retoric is so disengeneous as to carry little to no weight with me and I dare say most discriminating Americans. He is at least a Socialist, if not a Communist. The evidence is overwhelming in it's totality. What he does telegraphs his real objectives, which is to so undermine our independence and economic freedom as to leave all of us as serfs to the state, wholly dependent on the largess of big government.
We are already far down the road to that result, and unless Obama is defeated in 2012, I am afraid our nation as we know it is doomed.

I see the major difference between Carter and Obam as one of intent. I believe that Carter, at least at the time he was president, was unintelligent, unqualified to be president and bordering on being stupid. I am not convinced that his intent at that time was one of evil. However, Obama is neither unintelligent, not stupid. He is, however, totally unqualified to be president, both by virtue of being a person who has refused to "uphold and defend" the US Constitution, and actually appears to have evil intent toward the welfare and well-being of the US and its citizens.
In any case, the result has been the same for both men. The USA, our economy and all our citizens suffered a great deal as a result of both men being unqualified to lead this country.
It took Ronald Reagan to right the ship of state beginning in 1980 and undo all the MISTAKES of a pitiful peanut farmer; the big question is: who is the next Reagan that will begin working to undo all the EVIL brought upon this nation by one Barack Hussein Obama?

BHO can indeed win another term. Among the factors to bring this about: 1) Otherwise very responsible Christians will either refuse to vote in protest of the GOP nominee, or stay at home on election day; or worse,2)give their precious vote to a 3rd party candidate. Conservatives have a right to be dissatisfied with the current leaders in the race for the nomination, but they do not have the "right" to allow BHO another term. The destruction of our nation is in sight. Christians alone can prevent it. We must support the nominee regardless of who that may be...

Carter was simply dumb as a rock when it came to managing the office of the president. He didn't know how the problem came to be or how to restore the economy.
Obama created the problems with our current economy. He has problems with America being exceptional and will do all he can to show that it isn't. He thinks himself superior to everyone else. He does not take blame for doing anything wrong and has no desire to correct his mistakes.
Finally, Carter loved his country. Obama hates America. Obama should be removed from office so that he can do no further damage. He should be impeached for the damage he has done.
God Bless America
