Obama's State of Disunion
· Thursday, January 26, 2012
AKA, 'State of the Campaign'
"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." --Article II, Section 1, Constitution of the United States

On Tuesday, Barack Hussein Obama recited what I hope will be his last tele-prompted State of the Union address. In attendance was a room half full of his Leftist sycophants, inebriated on their lust for power and hanging on every word from their "dear leader."
As anticipated by all parties present, there was not one solitary free market economic remedy mentioned in his entire diatribe. Every "solution" was predicated on government engineering via intervention, regulation or redistribution -- consistent with his dogmatic Democratic Socialist ideology. Predictably, he peppered his prose with populist appeals and classist rhetoric focused on "fairness."
BO's classist message was contradicted by his wife's iridescent cobalt blue dress. I'm told it came from the Barbara Tfank Resort Collection, but at $2,400, I doubt Michelle picked it up on one of those photo-op trips to Target. The two Obamas act like trailer trash who won the lucky lotto in 2008, and they've now elevated their station to the bourgeoisie.
What follows are two assessments of Obama's SOTU, one brief and the other more comprehensive.
The short version: "I went ... I know ... My ... My ... I took office ... I'm president ... I will work ... I intend ... I will oppose ... I want ... I took office ... I refused ... me ... my ... my ... me ... I will sign ... I set ... I will go ... I will not ... I promise ... I hear ... I want ... me ... My ... I want ... I am ... I spoke ... me ... I believe ... my ... I took office ... me ... I will sign ... my ... my ... my ... I will not ... I will not walk ... I will not cede ... I will ... I'm directing ... my ... I will sign ... I've ... my ... my ... I've ordered ... I guess ... I will not ... I will ... I will not ... I will ... my ... I told ... my presidency ...me ... my ... I get ... I don't ... I recognize ... I bet ... I've ... me ... I will ... I ask ... I've ... me ... I believe ... my ... my ... I can ... I have ... I will take ... I mean ... I intend ... I've ... I've ... I've ... I'm a Democrat me ... I believe ... I began ... my ... I sat ... me for president ... me ... I look ... I'm (Applause.)"
Amazingly, there wasn't a single "uh" in the entire speech, which is to say that he gave the Obamaprompter his undivided attention -- except for his failed attempt to appear unscripted with that strange "spilt milk" bit.
And now, for a rebuttal analysis, I've excerpted key points from Obama's comments with parenthetical remarks for proper context.
"Think about the America within our reach. (Think quickly, because it's disappearing before our eyes.) The defining issue of our time is how to keep that promise alive. (Indeed it is!) An [America] where everyone gets a fair shot, and everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules. (By "fair share," Obama means that it is not fair for Americans who pay no taxes to bear the burden of all those who do pay taxes. And, by whose "set of rules"?) What's at stake aren't Democratic values or Republican values, but American values. (Correct.)"
"Let's remember how we got here. In 2008, the house of cards collapsed. (It's still Bush's fault) ... It was wrong. It was irresponsible. It plunged our economy into a crisis that put millions out of work, saddled us with more debt, and left innocent, hardworking Americans holding the bag. (And he rode that collapse into office.)"
Obama devoted a significant part of his speech to blame-shifting, particularly suggesting that the near-economic collapse in 2008 was precipitated by the "irresponsible" private sector, which was solely accountable for all the problems that plague both our economy and his re-election bid.
In fact, the collapse was largely attributable to government interference in the free market -- specifically Democrat manipulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lending practices, which spread across the entire mortgage banking industry -- leading to a real estate boom and bust, which Obama blames on "my predecessor" and Wall Street.
So, let's "remember how we got here" -- and do a bit of fact-checking along the way. Here is a brief overview of the catalyst that really collapsed "the house of cards."
In 2003, the Bush administration upgraded its concerns about Fannie and Freddie, requesting much stronger oversight. According to testimony by then Treasury Secretary John Snow, "We need a strong, world-class regulatory agency to oversee the prudential operations of the GSEs and the safety and the soundness of their financial activities." The New York Times reported that the administration's plan was "the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago," and "an acknowledgment by the administration that oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- which together have issued more than $1.5 trillion in outstanding debt -- is broken."
But Democrats would not support additional oversight or restrictions. Former House Financial Services Committee chairman Barney Frank declared in congressional hearings: "These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis. The more people exaggerate a threat of safety and soundness, the more people conjure up the possibility of serious financial losses to the Treasury, which I do not see. I think we see entities that are fundamentally sound financially and withstand some of the disaster scenarios. And even if there were a problem, the federal government does not bail them out."
Frank insisted, "I want to roll the dice a little bit more in this situation towards subsidized housing. I believe there has been more alarm raised about potential unsafety [sic] and unsoundness than, in fact, exists."
And roll the dice they did!
In the Senate, Charles Schumer objected to concerns raised by Sen. John McCain, about the solvency of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac: "My worry is that we're using the recent safety and soundness concerns ... as a straw man to curtail Fannie and Freddie's mission." The "mission," as amended by Democrats, was to reach out with home loans to millions of marginal or unqualified "customers" -- thus fueling the real estate boom.
In 2004, Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan testified: "What we're trying to avert is we have in our financial system right now two very large and growing financial institutions [which subsidize loans and] that prevents the markets from adjusting appropriately, prevents competition and the normal adjustment processes that ... creates stability. ... [By] enabling [Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac] to increase in size ... we are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk. If we fail to strengthen GSE regulation, we increase the possibility of insolvency in crisis."
In 2006, Sen. McCain again went to the Senate floor warning, "The GSEs need to be reformed without delay." However, every Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee voted against regulatory reforms. That year, housing prices peaked and started to reverse.
In 2008, amid eroding consumer confidence, the entire economy began spiraling toward collapse. Even Bill Clinton admitted, "I think the responsibility that the Democrats have may rest in resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress ... to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."
(For a more comprehensive examination of "how we got here," read "Crisis of Confidence.")
Now, Obama says, "I will oppose any effort to return to the very same policies that brought on this economic crisis in the first place." This is the Big Lie he's been telling ever since he became a failed president. In fact, his policies are all about government intervention and manipulation of the economy.
Returning to excerpts from his SOTU: "There are fewer illegal [border] crossings than when I took office. (There are fewer jobs than when he took office.) Send me a law that gives them the chance to earn their citizenship. I will sign it right away. (That law already exists -- Obama's administration has ignored it.) We have a supply of natural gas that can last America nearly 100 years. (That was in reference to his administration.) Our partnership with the private sector has already positioned America to be... (out of business.) The payoffs on these public investments... (taxpayer-funded union votes.)"

"Take the money we're no longer spending at war, use half of it to pay down our debt, and use the rest to do some nation-building right here at home. (I think he meant "take the debt we're no longer spending," and for "nation-building here"? More like "nation wrecking." For the record, since the ratification of our Constitution, the 43 presidents that followed added $4.16 trillion in debt. Since taking office, the 44th president has added more than $4.6 trillion in additional debt.) We'll run out of money. (We already did.) Government can't fix the problem on its own. (Government IS the problem!) We need smart regulations to prevent irresponsible behavior. They make the free market work better. (Yes, a regulated free market.) When it comes to the deficit, we've already agreed to more than $2 trillion in cuts and savings. (Not really.)"
"Now, you can call this class warfare all you want. (OK, it is class warfare.) We don't begrudge financial success in this country. We admire it. (Just drink the Kool-Aid.) I bet most Americans are thinking the same thing right about now. (When will this guy shut up?!) Can you blame them for feeling a little cynical? (Nope.)"
"I've talked tonight about the deficit of trust. (In fact, you increased it exponentially.) I've asked this Congress to grant me the authority to consolidate the federal bureaucracy. (More centralization?) We should all want a smarter, more effective government. (We should all want a smaller more irrelevant government.) America is determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and I will take no options off the table to achieve that goal. (Even sitting down for a beer summit?) Working with our military leaders, I've proposed a new defense strategy that ensures we maintain the finest military in the world ... gay or straight. (You knew where that was going, didn't you?)"
Remember Obama's proclamation, "We are fundamentally transforming the United States of America"? Well, he did. "How this incredible transformation will end remains uncertain," he said in his address. "But we have a huge stake in the outcome."
Indeed, we do have a huge stake in the outcome, as does our posterity. Patriots have staked our ground on the the side of Liberty.
Obama concluded, "Anyone who tells you that America is in decline or that our influence has waned doesn't know what they're talking about." Anyone who does not think America is in decline, must be a socialist or profoundly ignorant -- but then I repeat myself.
(For a thorough breakdown on "how we got here," see the detailed analysis prepared by our colleagues at Heritage Foundation.)
Next election will be either a Sunrise or Sunset on Liberty. From across the nation, American Patriots must rise up, band together and expel through the ballot box Obama's socialist regime. We must replace him with a president who will, first and foremost, abide by his oath to "Support and Defend" our Constitution.
(A footnote about all the Republican intra-party bickering: Obama may well change the dynamics of this election cycle by announcing a new Vice Presidential running mate in the run-up to the Democrat National Convention in September (Jon Huntsman comes to mind), and unity among conservatives, starting right now, is critical to victory. Obama has a vast campaign advertising budget, and will spend it running intra-Party criticism to foment disunity.)

Mark,
Thank you for putting up with (enduring) the President's SOTU address (propaganda and blame game tirade) to produce this analysis. I could not bring myself to listen to him because I knew I would hear more lies, propaganda and spin-doctoring aimed at the trying to hoodwink the people (those SHEEPLE that will listen anyway) into believing him.
Either he is incompetent or he is decidely trying to destroy America and freedom and capitalism. You cannot have it both ways: It is one or the other., EITHER way, he MUST GO this year and should have been impeached already.

of course it's in decline. The abuse of power, the bailouts, takeover of GM and Chrysler by the union all while leaving the existing bond holders out in the cold. And this man wants to be given more power? Two words come to mind when I think of Barrack Hussein Obama....impeach and imprison.

I left Cuba in 1961 because an undercover leftist communist lied to very smart people and duped them into getting him to power. As with all revolutions, once in control it ate its children.
Now I listen to Obama and when I talk to "very smart" people that voted for him and ask them if they still believe that he is"THE ONE" they are scared and ambivalent to admit that they made a mistake. If we do not get rid of him and his cronies in Novemeber the damage to this our beloved country may be ireversible even if we gain control of both houses. The constant fight will create despair and frustration that will paly into the socialists and communists agitators and fellow travelers or useful idiots.

This address sets the stage for the coming campaign. The GOP and Tea Party have lost consideration for my vote at any level, and the best thing I feel for the GOP is a landslide win for the Dems in November. This would force the GOP to reconsider it's platform, one that I feel has gotten away from the great majority of Americans. Dems are no gift to anyone, but that party can work with things, problems we face where the GOP has had one overall goal, to limit Obama to one term, choosing that tact in the face of the worst of times since the Great Depression. The recall in Wisconsin, landslide numbers on a bargaining rights vote in Ohio are very strong indicators and the GOP glosses over those continuing full speed onto coming train wreck in November. I voted for Reagan twice, but I see no good candidate there now for the GOP, all are tied to what has been failed trickle down thinking. Good theory, but it did not work, and the GOP has not evolved with that. Reagan Dems decide many elections, this one coming as well, and until the GOP changes, they do not have my support or vote.

One of the biggest lies Obama uttered during his SOTU address (there were so many lies and marxist 'code words' that it is hard to grade them in terms of size) was the now time honored statement "The State of our Union is Strong". In fact, at no other point in the history of America, other than the Civil War, has it be weaker due to his policy of dividing Americans using vicious class warfare rhetoric and practices. This is a nation totally divided and truely at risk of dissolution if he gains another four years as POTUS. Witness his attack against the states such as Arizona, Texas and others when it comes to a host of issues such as immigration, voting rights, the environment, jobs, etc.. The most likely scenario upon his re-election (God forbid) is that we will see free states in the West, South, and perhaps the mid-West leave the Union, leaving Obama dictator over half of what once was the United States of America.

When Obama talked of how we should penalize companies that do not hire here and reward companies that do, my first thought was then those companies who do not hire here will just move out to other countries, and then we have no taxes from them and no jobs. Woohoo. This administration seems to think that they have so much power, and the more they press, the less they will get. Businesses will always find a way around it, (and it does not matter if the business is run by a liberal or conservative) and if not, they just go out of business - no profit, no use, no jobs, nada.
And this is just one of my "responses" to ONE sentence Obama stated. It would take me a week to comment on all of it. I am so disgusted by his false propaganda, can hardly take it.

Peace Corp worker was sent to an African tribal village, to help bring them into the 21st century. This village was famous for the extra large and tasty breed of cattle they'd developed.
The tribe was gathered, a translator was found, and the Peace Corp worker began to extol the virtues of western, high-tech living, and how he could bring these blessings to primative Africa. As he mentioned each new, wonderful aspect of life that he was prepared to help them achieve, the tribe responded with a resounding "Huzunga", obviously a cheer in the mind of the worker.
When his presentation was ended, with a final and volumnous "huzunga", the worker as the chief if he might see the cattle that this village was so famous for. "Sure", said the chief, "but when we get to the corral, be careful that you don't step in the huzunga."

Part of where the GOP lost me is in the above comments. Groundless accusations....communist Juan ?
In better times, throwing that stuff around worked, now it shows who the real extremist is.
I am not sure which "ism" applies to the fixed playing field free market we have had for some time now, but then again, I do not need an "ism" to make my case.
Bain Captial is just the tip of the berg on that matter, I lost two pensions, as Newt cried for personal responsibility for us while paving the ground for business to trash those pensions, pensions worked and negotiated out in good faith, as good as any contract I would sign taking on a loan. What replaced those good jobs were lower paying less benefit type jobs. This is why tax bases have problems, they have been shrinking. This is why 50 million are on SNAP, and without health insurance, and many more are near poverty. What I say is not ideological, it is fact, and those facts the GOP tries to either ignore or shout down, and sir, in doing that you out yourself, as we said in the Corps, on the skyline, sillouetted for all to see and shoot at. Alan Greenspans testimony, that he was wrong, was one of the saddest days. He, and we, bet on that our best and brightest would not succumb to greed, and we were wrong....and that applies to Bain Captial and those types....the shot at profits outweighed the damage done. Many Americans may not have the perspective of time as I do, seeing this happen over 30 years, but they do see it, and do not want that. My suggestion to those who profitted over that time is to adjust course back, now, Do not wait for it to be legislated, etc., because that can happen with a vengence, the pendelum swings back the other way for a couple of decades, then comes back the other way with the same vengence. The GOP platform should recognize that and adjust.

The President said,"I ask Congress to grant me the authority to consolidate the federal bureaucracy. We should all want a smarter, more effective government." If there is a single word of truth in that statement then by tomorrow we should find that he has abolished all, I repeat, all of the czars that he appointed. That's a step he can take without permission of congress! It'll never happen, and this is a prime example of his "truth" claims that are so obviously false.

The question is not whether or not our nation is in decline. That much is obvious. Better to ask why it is in decline. Obama is not the problem- he is a tool and the results of his actions just symptoms of the root cause which is the moral decay of our society. "We struggle not against flesh and blood."
Although we have an obligation to get rid of this fool and his cronies, replacing him with another who is not first and foremost a believer in the principle that our Liberties are a God-given sacred trust will not change our ultimate national demise. Sadly, not one of the candidates currently seeking the nomination for the presidency evidences even the slightest inclination of leading us to a return to our founding principles and values nor even a return to a Constitutionally defined limited federal government.

Fernando, are you talking about the same Democrats that haven't submitted a budget in over 1000 days?
"Dems are no gift to anyone, but that party can work with things, problems we face where the GOP has had one overall goal, to limit Obama to one term, choosing that tact in the face of the worst of times since the Great Depression."
The Democrats would not even talk to Republicans for two years, while they shoved socialized medicine, takeovers of the banking, student loans, housing, auto and energy sectors down our throats.
Fascism 101.
The Wisconsin public sector union did not lose rights to collective bargaining for wages - only for the outrageous Benefits that are easy to promise and impossible to deliver on. Pay them more if they deserve it but we must stop allowing the inbreeding of payoffs in the form of Benefit Packages to democrat voters by politicians who will be long gone when to bill comes due.
A government economy is a fixed sum game -- no new money. You can only confiscate wealth one time, and without an unfettered private sector to drive the economic engine of growth and create new money we will soon become the UK and eventually Greece.
Confiscate all earned income over $1 million and you can run Obamas America for 32 days. Expand that down to all income over $250,000 and you can run the Democrats America for 163 days -- then all the money is gone and the producers are out of business. Then who is the government gonna go after?
And by the way, Reagans, supply side economics brought more money into the treasury than ever before - but the Democrats congress spent more than was raised. That is a lesson the Democrats still have not learned. To paraphrase the old slogan--"It's the SPENDING - stupid"

The chorus' lyrics are, "we're rollin' down hill like a snowball headed for Hell" and that was during the semi-prosperous 1980s! The nation that I was born into has become faded, like an aging movie poster, just a shadow of it's former glory. I never thought we could sink so far, so fast, but we have. Without drastic measures, the USA we love will become another wreck in the history of the world, like Rome, destroyed by the loss of the values which made it great. I love the nation which once existed, the one the founding fathers created in the 18th century. I pledged my life to THAT nation, not this shattered hulk. I have no solutions for the restoration of our greatness except to remove those who believe the socialist manifesto, remove the oath breakers who use the Constitution for butt wipe and restore the power, given by that Constitution, back to the People, as in "we the People" the founders meant to hold said power, not the political elite!

The part that disturbed me the most was the part about Obama consolidating the Executive Branch and streamlining the office. Since when does he know better that the Founding Fathers about how to put together a government that is founded in liberty? He is a socialist and is determined to undermine this country, never mind trashing the Constitution he SWORE to defend.

The Obama state of the union speech was the worst and most boring I have ever heard. he said nothing of his accomplishments because he has none and the Bin Laden killing was more Panetta than him, and was 5 yrs in the making when Bush was President. It was more of the same old crap and people are starting to see this.
The speech clearly was a campaign speech, seemed even more like a sales pitch for socialism. His core message seemed to be vote for me and I'll usher in more wealth distribution, more Gov subsidized services more regulations and taxes on wealthy people, more public works projects and more federal bureaucracies and everyone plays by the same set of rules. Does this apply to him and his administration, his Attorney General his out of control Dept of Justice?
I just was watching TV and a guy wrote a book called a Nation of Hoouchers. said 46.2 million people are on food stamps in this country the largest ever. %45 of the people pay no taxes. It makes me wonder why I worked so hard all these years mostly from week to week pay checks, but I paid my bills and paid my taxes but maybe I should think like you and just let the Gov help me.
Obama rejected the Keystone XL pipeline which amazes me now maybe they will send it to China isn't that nice? Obama is just incompetent or maybe doing what he wants but what ever America is losing.

I am sad to see America in such a state of decline due to the welfare system of entitlement expanded beyond anything I have seen in my lifetime. We are being bankrupted by this administration of liberal socialists. There was a history lesson when the founding fathers expressed their biggest concern was the politicians expansion of power in the future...Big government is not the answer and never has been. In the Bible there is no mention of America in the end times...Are we becoming a non entity in world of today? If we take right to fail away we also take the right to succeed away! Socialism has never worked and never will.

I have to disagree with Bill DeFelice, America has been in decline since Woodrow Wilson and his alter ego, Colonel Edward Mendel House convinced the majority of the American public that the US was a democracy and not a Republic. His motto, " to make the world safe for democracy". And then we proceed to FDR whose socialist policies prolonged the great depression for ten years and his personal adviser, Harry Hopkins who said
"tax and tax, spend and spend, elect and elect, and the American Public is too damned dumb to understand" As a former member and chapter leader of The John Birch Society, I have been fighting the battle and putting my money where my mouth is for more than thirty years. Robert Welch, the founder of the John Birch Society often said that education
was the key, which is why I now support The Patriot Post and hopefully the Post can educate enough Americans to not be too damned dumb to understand before its too late!

My response
Let's put it into better perspective. For example, if the bus driver makes $40,000, and pays a 28% tax rate, he or she pays $1,120. If the millionaire makes $40 million, pays a 15% tax rate, they pay $6,000,000 in taxes. That's equivalent to paying the taxes of 5,000+ bus drivers. Puts things is greater perspective, now doesn't it?”
A good argument for a Flat Tax?
And so as to not exclude the hard work of and patriotism of the 47% who currently don’t pay any taxes, an example of a 15% flat tax.
Hypothetical:
Bus driver – income $40,000 = $600 in taxes
Millionaire – Income $40,000,000 = $6,000,000 in taxes
One of the 47% - Income $28,000 = $420 in taxes
Second of the 47% - Income $19,000 = $285 in taxes
Now wouldn’t we all agree that even the 47% would be willing to pay even a little in taxes to help their country endure?
OK, if you want 20%, 25% or a 30% flat tax; do the simple figures.
As our president said, we “should all do our part.” Wouldn’t we all be “doing our parts”?

America is in a deep ,deep moral decline. We have sold our birthright for a mess of stew (OT). How we as individuals and as a nation spend our money is NOT seen as a moral issue when in fact it is. If we as individuals and as a nation do not repent we will come to a very sad, sad end. Sooner if not later. Pie in the sky will not work any more. Sorry to seem so negative, but I personally believe this is the road we are on (not just headed) and must repent, change and turn back. The prophets among us have tried to warn us and we have ignored them. There is still a short time left, but we'd better make the change soon before we reach the point of no return.

A classic colletivist, liberal teleprompter reading poorly disguised to give the impression Obama stands for middle class values, all while pushinga an agenda that will regulate and tax the middle class out of existence along with the Class's wealth. All while already "redistributing" the middle class wealth to those who "depend" entirely on goodies from the benevolent, elitist government One might ask what happened to all those other promisses made in 2009 and 2010 SOTU addresses?

Of course America is in decline for reasons so vexing and preposterous as to be totally surprising in their numbers. We all know what they are. Our main hope is the ballot box, starting in November. Depending on that outcome, another scenario may have to be brought to the fore. The most difficult aspect of this country's decline is that most of the members of Congress are as guilty as Obama, over a much longer period of time, for the present condition. Almost none of them want to do what really needs to be accomplished; namely, cutting departments, ending thousands of government programs, thereby permanently reducing the size of government. Remember this phrase, "If you want to help someone, tell him the truth; if you want to help yourself, tell him what he wants to hear". The last part is the Obama line. Sadly, many in our country buy in, mostly due to ignorance.

Yes, obviously we are in decline. But there is no magic bullet that will make all our problems go away instantly. When your boat is sinking, step one is to stop the leak. When the water is no longer coming in, THEN, and only then, do you bail the bilges. Politically, step one is to remove Obama and his crowd. This is not the time to let "perfect" be the enemy of "good", and to keep looking for some messiah. (come to think of it, we tried that in 2008.) With Obama gone, many of our isses can be addressed, incrementally, and solved incrementally.
This time around, a third-party candidacy would be the equivalent of treason. A third-party candidate guarantees that Obama will be re-elected. We need to find ONE Republican, and gather behind him, and remove Obama as th first order of business. He has a 35 - 40 percent hard-core constituency that absolutely will vote for him, no matter what.
The recent internecine circus among Repubs would be amusing if not for the tragedy. Newt has adulterous affairs, Obama admitted to using marijuana and cocaine, and Newt isn't fit to govern??? Romney is evil for making money, but Obama is OK for hiding his background?
People, we need to focus on the forest fire, and stop bitching about the poison ivy!

Great analysis and assessment Mark. Actually I would think his quoted oath "to support and defend the Constitution of the United States" would have been categorized under "The Belly Laugh of the Term of Office."
I'm kind of surprised this quote from the SOTU hasn't received more attention and comment:
"The executive branch also needs to change. Too often, it's inefficient, outdated and remote. That's why I've asked this Congress to grant me the authority to consolidate the federal bureaucracy so that our government is leaner, quicker, and more responsive to the needs of the American people."
Okaaay... that's an interesting statement of intent. If he thinks the executive branch is inefficient, outdated and remote, to the point it needs cutting and streamlining, I would think as the executive he can do much to address that problem without permission or authority from Congress. For example - get rid of the multitude of "Czars" and attendant agencies he's unconstitutionally created over the last three years. He names a new Czar nearly every month it seems. Fire them. He doesn't need authority from Congress to do that. This would certainly be a great start.
No doubt we need some heaving cutting and consolidating, and I would agree with him on that. If that's what this all about... great. The proposal to consolidate or merge the Commerce Dept., SBA, Office of the U.S. Trade Rep., Export-Import Bank, Overseas Private Investment Corp., and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, is all well and good... and yes, he does need permission from Congress to effect such a merger. If it has merit then Congress should readily approve the measure. But he's clearly implied he's going to seek a blanket "authority" to act on such measures in the future.
And here's what bothers me about his comment more than anything - If he's asking for such blanket "authority" from Congress, then it's not just the internal administrative functionings and bureaucratic efficiency he's wanting to change. Authority = Power. No, he's wanting to change the checks and balances relationship between the Executive and Legislative branches.
His contempt for the constitution and the legislative branch was made evident when he did an end run around the Senate by appointing Cordray to head up the CFPB, without the advice and consent of the Senate, as required by constitutional law. His comment from a month or two ago, wherein he announced "if the Congress will not act, I will" is also telling and reflects his disdain for the foundational checks and balances our form of government requires.
He simply wants more power. He views the Congress, not as a co-equal governing body he must work with, but as an impediment to the "change" he knows in his heart we all need to undergo and which he's been called upon to bring to the country. And that impediment must be done away with. I'd go so far as to say he envisions dictatorial powers for the executive branch.
God Save the Republic.

i think it is in decline based on three things:
1. Respect for and confidence in America to be able to continue their historical role of world leadership
2. America's relative world capability in manufacturing products. We have lost that capability to OCONUS sources
3. Our government does not have the respect, trust, nor confidence from our population to maintain the ideals established by our founding fathers and this governing body has been infiltrated by our worst enemies at all levels.

Eliminate the departments of energy, education and agriculture. Eliminate the EPA and other unsupervised independent agencies. Lower all income tax rates. There is no reason tax money needs to go through Washington, only to come back to states in the form of aid. Institute term limits and forbid lobbying for 10 years after leaving elected office. That should do for the first year. Give me some time to come up with more.

I did see “highlights,” complete with the president’s accomplices in full brown-nosing mode, standing and cheering at every manufactured moment of praise. They remind me of the Kim Jung Il’s mourner’s as they expressed their “grief” at the public ceremonies to honor his death.

It amazes me the back and forth and the single directional attack on Obama. I see a man that was hoping to change the Status quo in Washington and what we are witnessing is a failure. Not the failure of the man but the failure to move a group of I'm always right guys and gals to a "how can we get these problems solved and still rake in the cash before it all goes away" Group. At least that would be a start. Never mind the "I'm here to fight for the American people and create a strong Nation" job. Then the thought comes to me that people disapprove of Congress allot more than Obama so why not take the blame where it belongs. Political Parties are great for elections in order to drive messages, but when it comes to solving problems we should see more intelligence and less Parties. They are not in control. Let's remind them we notice!

And it came to pass in the Age of Insanity that the people of the land
called America , having lost their morals, their initiative, and their
will to defend their liberties, chose as their Supreme Leader that
person known as "The One."
He emerged from the vapors with a message that had no meaning; but He hypnotized the people telling them, "I am sent to save you." My lack
of experience, my questionable ethics, my monstrous ego, and my association with evil doers are of no consequence. I shall save you with hope and Change. Go, therefore, and proclaim throughout the
land that he who preceded me is evil, that he has defiled the nation, and that all he has built must be destroyed. And the people rejoiced,
for even though they knew not what "The One" would do, he had promised that it was good; and they believed. And "The One" said " We live in
the greatest country in the world. Help me change everything about it!" And the people said, "Hallelujah! Change is good!"
The One" said "I shall give 95% of you lower taxes." And one, lone voice said, "But 40% of us don't pay ANY taxes." So "The One" said, "Then I shall give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay!"
And the people said, "Hallelujah! Show us the money!"
. "I shall mandate employer-funded health care
for every worker and raise the minimum wage. And I shall give every person unlimited healthcare and medicine and transportation to the clinics." And the people said, "Give me some of that!"
Then he said, "I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas." And the people said, "Where's my rebate check?"
And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto a rock dropped from a cliff. The banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a crawl. And more of the people were without a means of support.
Then "The One" said, "I am the "the One"- The Messiah - and I'm here to save you! We shall just print more money so everyone will have
enough!"
But our foreign trading partners said unto Him. "Wait a
minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have to pay more... And "The One" said, "Wait a minute. That is unfair!!"
And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic
programs you have embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. Now you shall play by our rules!"
And the people cried out, "Alas, alas!! What have we done?" But yea verily, it was too late. The people set upon The One and spat upon him and stoned him, and his name was dung. And the once mighty nation was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or shelter or hope. And the Change "The One" had given them was as like
unto a poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind that consumed all that they had built.
And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish,
"give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!" But it was too late, and their homeland was no more. You may think this a fairy tale, but it's not.
It's happening RIGHT NOW

Fernando,
The Democrats, or more properly Marxist Socialists, have had control of the Congress from 2006 through 2010. Since 2010 when the Republicans obtained control of the House of Representatives, they have presented many good ideas, but Harry Reid (D-NV), who won only 2 of 17 counties in Nevada refused to even bring these ideas up for discussion much less a vote. Obamacare, or to use its correct name “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, was not presented as a bill for discussion and modification as is supposed to be done, but it was simply a gutting and replacement of a bill originated in the House with Obamacare as a total substitution. It was treated as an amendment and Harry Reid allowed only an up vote on his modification. He did this by refusing to call for a vote until he had counted the vote and had enough to allow for a few defections from his rule. The Senate rules allow for this abuse of power.
Harry presented this as the Republicans refusing to talk with the Democrats and refusing to compromise. In actuality it was the Democrats who refused to even talk, much less compromise
What you have described is not an inability of the conservative TEA Party and the Republicans to propose new workable ideas, but the major flaw in depending on honor and good ethics in politicians who are re-elected more than once.
The oath of office taken by ALL congressmen (In the English language the masculine gender includes the feminine where appropriate.) is:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”
Before bashing the Republicans and TEA Partiers, and praising the Democrats, you should know what they took an oath to support and defend. If yo do not have a copy of the Constitution, you can obtain one copy without cost from either Heritage.org or The Cato Institute. Go to their website and ask for it.

Mark, surely you're not suggesting that we "rally round Romney?"
Being a patriot, I will vote for the opposition party candidate, whomever that may be. But your final parenthetical seems to say Republican primary is failing to develop a strong nominee. I would argue that it is tempering the final nominee and denying the DNC that one republican on which they can hone their knives.

Am I the only one that heard this line: "Let’s never forget: Millions of Americans who work hard and play by the rules every day deserve a government and a financial system that do the same. It’s time to apply the same rules from top to bottom. No bailouts, no handouts, and no copouts. An America built to last insists on responsibility from everybody." I nearly choked when I heard the "no bailouts, no handlouts, and no copouts." line from the bailout meister, who handed out half a billion dollars to campaign donors at Solyndra, and has done nothing but make excuses for HIS policy failures since day one. How else would you define a copout?

Before I even heard any reaction from anybody, I thought 'what a lot of empty words that don't mean anything because he does exactly the opposite of what he's saying.' He sounded so good and would to anyone who doesn't follow him closely. If they looked at what he does, his words would mean nothing.

Thanks for setting Fernando straight. I was going to, but with a marxist sister I have come to realize that arguing with a marxist statist is like trying stop the flow of time, impossible, as they utilize feelings instead of facts, and like lemmings follow the annointed one over the cliff. I would wager he would find the Constitution offensive to his beliefs.

An entire speech dedicated to "Me" is not quite what I would term a state of the union address. This preposterous person and his telepromter need to; as they said in the Old West, "Get out of town before Sundown".
I've heard so much tripe in my 70+ years of trolling this planet. I've seen or known people of his ilk many times over that span. Criminal Idealists is a term I use to describe the breed. Arrive from nowhere, have nothing, find a niche and jam themselves into it. It's almost like his keepers decided that this guy; given the best possible job on the planet to pull off the Marxist/Socialistic scheme ala the original Karl Marks and J. Engle, was hand-groomed after landing in the lap of the left-wing socialists with great wealth; incidentally, that wealth came from the entrepreneurship of this nations as we progressed from our founding in 1776.
We do not need this tripe anymore. If the November elections do not put an end to Obama and his band of misfits and goons, I'm heading for Australia. That is, if they let me in. After all I did 48+ years in the American Military and the Department of Defense, maybe the Aussies won't have room for an old-timer who still has the guts, wisdom and strength to lend them support in solving their illegal immigrant and radical Muslim problems.

Is it just me, or do others find Obama's SOTU even more unbearable to watch due to Joe Biden's immense sucking up? His head nodding and grinning after each of his master's idiotic points is very noticeable and clownish. I realize he's mentally defective and that I should be more compassionate, but three years of this is just too much!

At this point in time I'd say that America is in decline, and that the decline will become even steeper if the Glorious Leader is reelected. The ONLY way to reverse this decline is to reverse the entitlement culture. Social Security was never intended to be a pension, I even had a teacher in the fifth or sixth grade make that clear over sixty years ago. People need to learn that. People who've never paid into Social Security don't deserve anything from it. Congress isn't entitled to steal money from the SS "lock box" which has never existed anyway.
Benjamin Franklin was correct when he said that the best way to help people out of their poverty is to make them uncomfortable in it. The job of the government isn't to hold everyone's hand and take care of them from cradle to an (early) grave.
FEMA reeducation camps here we come.

I grant full permission for you to use all or any part of this correspondence without any financial reward or payment to me. I offer this as a patriot and for no other reason.
Subject: Declaration of Independence
I recently received your copy of the Declaration of Independence and thought I would read it. I was amazed at some of the items our forefathers included as reasons for their declaring independence from England. What really captured my attention was the inclusion of items we recognize today. What we have had is not a President acting as our representative of the peoples' will, but a "King" who has ignored our wants and desires while amassing an army of welfare recipients that support his redistribution of wealth.
Please read the following document and pay special attention to the words underlined. Those in bold and underlined are the abuses I feel Obama has committed. You may agree or disagree, or may even find more that you feel he has violated. Regardless of your agreement it is beneficial to read and refresh your knowledge of the words and thoughts that men were willing to place on paper, sign and die for, describing their dissatisfaction with a King.
Please do not misunderstand, I do not support an overthrow of our government because these men of great wisdom provided for a solution --- an election. That is the action we must be prepared to take and support not with just lip service but by action. Regardless of your candidate in the selection process please be prepared to support a Conservative against the liberal actions of Obama. Go to a campaign office and make phone calls, put out signs, take elderly friends and family to vote, offer rides to others --- do everything you can --- how difficult can it be?--- after all no one is asking you to die like so many fine service men and women have done to provide you this opportunity. I believe this is not an election for President but a decision --- a decision for the continuation of our Nation and way of life or a final set of calculated moves to destroy our Nation that has given so much to us and provided us with a wonderful life.
God Bless the USA --- he has!!-- now we must protect that blessing and thank him by acknowledging his gift and fighting to help continue it in to the future for our children and those to come.

As the middle class has declined so has the USA. Strangely no one is talking about the causes of middle class shrinkage. Union jobs in the manufacturing sector were largely responsible for the rise of the middle class. During the Clinton administration scores of these job went over seas. Now we are about a 75% service sector job market. Service sector jobs are notoriously low waged! We need to renegotiate some of the trade deals we have signed on to. And of course, getting rid of Obama would help tremendously! Also, we haven't declined so that we can't make a come back.

SOTU, psuedo campaign speech, reminded me of a great song:
Ball of Confusion - The Temptations
People moving out,
People moving in,
Why, because of the color of their skin,
Run, run, run, but you just can't hide.
An eye for an eye,
Tooth for a tooth,
Vote for me and I'll set you free,
Rap on, brother, rap on.
Well, the only person talking about loving thy brother is the preacher,
And it seems nobody's interested in learning, but the teacher,
Segregation, demonstration, intergration, determination, aggravation, humiliation,
Obligation to our nation.
Ball of confusion,
That's what the world is today, hey.
The sale of pills is at an all time high,
Young folks walk with their heads in the sky,
The cities aflame in the summertime,
And oh the beat goes on.
Evolution, revolution, gun control, sound of soul-shooting rockets to the moon,
Kids growing up too soon,
Politicians say, "More taxes will solve everything,"
....
etcetera!
Bottom line on the SOTU...
WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL SHIFT! Yea, huzunga!
The following statement was made earlier this week and could not be more appropriately said:
“When you want to help people, you tell them the truth. When you want to help yourself, you tell them what they want to hear." --economist Thomas Sowell

I think we can all agree on what we think of this socialist/marxist dictator in the White House.
What is more frightening at the moment, however, is the Romney and media attempt to black out the news media here in Florida on this campaign. We are a conservative state, we do not support romney and never will. I am seeing here from the GOP with Obama nation wide. Romney is everywhere attacking Newt. We are hearing no substance from him, no vetting. He goes nowhere without an entourage. Shades of the Obama election only this time it is coming from the GOP. Even Marco Rubio is shoving the Tea Party away and joining the fray in support of Romney. The State Party is carrying only Romney literature. I cannot vote for this moderate. Wall Street experience and Romneycare are the last things we are impressed with here in Florida.
I did hear Ed Rollins say that Gingrich is the conservative in this race and probably most like Reagan.
This is not going to be a free election.

I've been watching the American political scene for nigh on 50 years. To ask if America is on decline would be sort of like asking Mae West at age 80 if she had had better years. The real question is not whether America is in decline, but whether that accelerating trend can be reversed.
Watching the fiasco transpiring in the 2012 race for the GOP presidential nomination offers little encouragement. It reminds one of high schools sophomores flexing their muscles in front of starry eyed young girls. Interesting, but unimaginative and meaningless. These guys better get serious and talk issues. Now they are just providing brother Barry fodder for the fall campaign.
Do I think America can turn round its present decline? The answer is simple, if Obama is re-elected the answer is no. That can only result in the demise of America as we have known it. If he is defeated, then there is an outside chance a reversal could occur or at least the decline abated. I am hopeful, but worried.
I must say

I think this man has no comprehension of what this country is about. All his life has been steeped in communistic and socialistic viewpoints and he does not comprehend the greatness that is liberty and freedom, nor does he have any idea that a president should keep his word when he makes his oath of office. He appears to be bought and paid for by those who would rule us regardless of our rights. It was a sad day in our history when he took over the white house and he is steadily turning the U.S. into another Cuba or Venezuela or Greece.

Trailer trash is a great way to describe them. As I noted in a response in the Post yesterday: No matter how you try to disguise a cow pie, it is, afterall, still a cow pie; it is what it is. A simple solution would be for as many Americans who have a computer is to read Patriot's Post daily. For those of us who have friends without a computer and only access to the MSM,we should impart the information we read daily. Then we all vote Republican in November in order to obtain a Republican President, Senate and House. That will get American back to the Government our Founding Fathers left us.

RE: Fed Up: post yesterday. He made me admit I partook of sociologist programs. I admitted I went to school on the GI Bill, started my business with a GI loan, even though I don't need to (Yet), I use medications I receive from the VA. (Service related.) Heck, my home is VA Financed. Both my wife and I prided ourselves on making it on our own. Did we? We both used government programs. I made the comment I admire those from the south for they are true conservatives, they are neighbors helping neighbors. Of course there's some racism
and other issues but very freeking little so what are the Liberals making it a centerpiece? I can go on tribal land, hunt, fish, whatever. If a Caucasian does, they're toast. This is racism. Heck, half my family are raciest.
I made a point that all progressives, liberals, conservatives, centrist, constitutionalists, shroud all ban together and make this nation great. I say all of the above in response to Alexanders question, are we in decline? It takes more than a bad administration or an political ideology, to decline a nation. It takes moral values, crazy laws infringing on personal rights, as in Rome, to much power and wealth at one end, (I'm not advocating take out the rich, just pay the same tax rate I do.)
What decline a nation is we outsourced everything, we are greedy, we do not follow a conservative principle of watching out for your neighbor. If we don't find a way then we are doomed.
IN closing, we are doomed, we will declined for greed. Allow me this. 5 Years ago before Obamacare, my insurance sky-rocked. I went from 100% coverage to 80% coverage and my insurance has almost tripled. I live in a state where any insurance company can compete. Now they all charge the same. I was told to pay my deductible, 1,000.00 and 20% up front or go blind. that's the deal. I have the money but what those who don't. I was legally blind and had to have someone read it to me. My wife had cancer. Choice is the same. If we didn't have the money, it would've spread within a year. Now we have a greatly shorten lifespan and more money they have to put out.
We are in declined for the corporations, excuse me, the supreme court says a corporate entity are people. We as a people are greedy and only look out for ourselves. We need to view looking out for our neighbor and get a handle on not just jobs which no one seems to care about, but back to our roots.
One of the reasons why I didn't like Bachmann is she talked a good game but she had over 36 request for aid to her district, most of which are socialist programs designed to create jobs and rework a decaying infra structure. I don't like none of the candidates expect for Paul. They all say, "we have a hot button, per-existing conditions. Kill Obamacare, keep the per-existing condition clause in, underwrite for the poor as in Mas and block grant it to the state. federal money to the states. This is socialism.
We are decline and we only have the man in the mirror to blame. Now do we pull together or do we fight. If we fight, Alexander is correct in asking is this country in decline. When we fail, it will be by a self inflicted wound.

Charles Sproull
MATURITY: This is a follow-on of a John Adams quote, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
I believe that Adams' concept of "moral and religious people" can be mapped into the concept of "maturity." The practical application of this is as follows: to be real American citizens and to live in a nation that is effectively governed by our Constitution and Ten Commandments, we need to be "fully developed" (dictionary definition of "mature"). "Fully developed" persons are those who have been taught by their parents and teachers all they need to know about high quality civil life; and through strong good-natured discipline have a conscience that is sensitive enough to discern the difference between right and wrong behavior. Like King David, they are willing to let God's word to be "a light to their feet and a lamp in their path" (Psalm 119:105).
Mature "religious and moral" people are willing to be governed by the moral principles in the Ten Commandments and limited Constitutional Republican Government (ie; by God's word in their hearts). They are unselfish and honest, care for the well-being of themselves and other people; are conservative in their use and reuse of resources; are self-controlled enough to allow objective principles of life and established moral standards to have more influence over their lives than personal subjective feelings; are hard workers and responsible for earning their own living in a free capitalistic society and maintaining their private property; are emotionally able to accept the responsibilities of normal, loving, faithful marriage between one man and one woman and care for their children; in leadership positions are respectful and provide organization and guidance to all under them; and are well educated in important areas like English language, true science and technology, business and economics, moral and civil principles, U.S. and world history, and the Biblical convictions our Founding Fathers had when they settled in America and that inspired them to write our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
People who are not "fully developed" (definition of "immature") are selfish and dishonest, their conscience is too dull to discern right from wrong so they do what feels good regardless of whether it is right or wrong, even if their behavior is detrimental to other people and to our culture, and they tend to be attracted to socialism and migrate into one of two categories:
(1) Leaders who worship the "Aryan idol of masculinity" (like Hitler did) and who desire to rule over other people, are abusive and domineering over followers, are hateful towards freedom-loving conservative people who love high moral standards, and love to get rich by taxing other people. These 1's become political leaders who love to rule over 2's.
(2) Followers are irresponsible, lazy in personal life and on the job, seek as much welfare and union support as possible, more influenced by personal feelings and immoral desires, porn and violence in media and entertainment, less self-control; abusive and unfaithful in normal marriage or engage in abnormal intimate relationships (homosexual and lesbian), don't care about the lives of pre-born babies, aren't well-educated in US history, the Bible, science and technology or economics, and who are nor involved in capitalistic businesses.
This trend toward being not "fully-developed" began in the 1960's and 70's by the so-called Human Rights Campaign,” when spanking children for disobedience in public schools was outlawed, because of a false theory that spanking and strong discipline were harmful to children's self-esteem. But actually, properly disciplined children have higher self-esteem. Also, when prayer and gospel singing was outlawed in public schools because a few atheists were offended, that limited God's influence to put moral values in children's consciences. This downward trend is accelerated by sex-ed (porn) in media and entertainment and schools, which has the effect of blinding them God's high standards of life.
As more American residents are raised in abusive, un-educated, immoral (darkened) home and school environments, and tend to love porn and violence in entertainment, and selfish worldly pleasures more than necessities of life, and shun the responsibilities required for supporting life; then they tend to be attracted to being either leaders or followers in a socialistic government, loving to get rich by from tax-payer’s hard-earned money, or loving to receive welfare from tax-payers.
In Matt 15:12,14 Jesus described the end result of two kinds people who are offended by God's word, "blind leaders of the blind" ... "they shall both fall into the ditch."

Yes, I believe America is in decline. We have elected officials at the state (I live in California) and federal levels that are morally bankrupt, regardless of their party. They spend too much time worrying about looking and sounding good to the press and their fellow elected officials that they soon forget the constituents who sent them to the the state or Washington, D.C. The Republicans (I have been a registered Republican since 1982) are the worst hypocrites. They talk of smaller government at the federal but then do nothing to shrink it. We need honest, good and wise men and women in our state and federal legislatures. As a country, we would do well to throw out ALL of the elected officials and start again. I am disgusted with the pompous asses who think they are entitled to sit in Washington, D.C. for 20,30,40,50 and more years. It was not meant to be a career. You went to Washington, D.C. (or state legislature)to SERVE your country for a time and then return to your vocation or work in your community to improve it. Whether we want to admit it or not, federal elected officials are our modern day aristocracy. They do not live the way the common American does. Why do they have life time medical care and very substantial retirements when they live office. However, too Americans do want to get involved in public affairs so they are informed as to what politicians are doing with their money. We have the exact politicians we deserve in Washington because the citizenry has become disenchanted and apathetic to what really goes on behind the scenes. Until there is more involvement from the masses, the Tea Party movement is a nice start, the downward spiral will continue in the cesspool of humanity that is Washington, D.C.

If the GOP canidate pulls the same timid crap that McCain did, we are toast!! This time we need to expose Obama for the tride and true Commy-socialist he is. He did say in a speech that, "Saul Alinsky" was one of the great mentors in his life. Alinsky is the self described Neo-Marxist, that wrote the book, Rules for Radicals, in which he gives 13 step rules on how to destroy, free market capitalism in America. Rule number one is, "become a community organizer" but their main rule is, "the means justifies the ends" this tells them that 'lying' is absolutely needed to attaining & keeping power. Alinsky even gives an example of when lying is necessary in political campaigns. This is just one of many examples of who Obama really is & why we need him gone!!

Thoughts on the SOTU? Sad. Sad that a President has so little understanding of what America is about, it's history, it's foundation (Constitution) or it's basis (belief in God). Sad that a President believes that POTUS is all about HIM- I,Me, My, Mine, and about what the government should do to/for the people, rather than what the people can do for themselves. His Marxist training is more and more evident every day. Again, Sadly the MSM LOVES it! and the Democrat (Socialist) Party believes in it.
If the country re-elects this man, we are definitely as stupid as the Liberals think we are.

NOT ONE of our Congress/Senate Democrats is upholding their oath of office, and are in fact, usurping that oath. Too many Republicans, are no better and deserve the same.

The Obamacrats are what they are - Marxist/Socialists. We have to get all elected Republicans, especially in the Senate, on the same page. RINO's such as McCain, Collins, Snowe, etc. undermine our Constitution by actively working with and or compromising with the Obamacrats. They take an oath to preserve, protect, and defend; then ignore the oath at their convenience. If something is unconstitutional, Republicans must OBSTRUCT! OBSTRUCT! OBSTRUCT!

Typical OB-BS, not a single true remedy for any of the myriad of problems plaguing the nation. But then, that's an oxymoron; if he offered any true solutions, he would go "poof" and vanish, since he has caused most of the really serious issues.
He offered no solutions, just as no other Progressive has ever offered any, which illustrates the true point of Progressivism--they exist only to create the very problems that will place more pressure on our economic system, eventually overwhelmig the system and causing millions of Americans to quake with the fear of what already is, plus the fear of what is coming.
The end result will be the frantic "grabbing at" a final solution, much as a drowning person will grab at anything that floats. By the time the nation realizes what they have accepted, it will be too late to realize that the object they took hold of is the alligator swimming near the drowning man, and all our cherished freedoms and liberties will disappear down the throat of the progressive alligator.
Unless the nation chooses a new, true leader in November, the current SOTU will look like a veritable paradise compared to the 2016 version.

When I listened to President Obama's SOTU, what came to mind was a cross between "Alice in Wonderland" (white is black, up is down, right is wrong, etc.) and a particular scene from "The Wizard of Oz" ("pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!") The man seems to have no compunction blaming his own failed policies either on the previous administration or on an American public he thinks is too stupid to see his self-described "wisdom." His main problem is, people are starting to pay more and more attention to what's going on behind the curtain and increasingly demand that the dog and pony show come to an end. Let's hope a Republican (any Republican, even if it's a Republican ham sandwich) evicts the man come the next election.

Obama is a failure by the standards of people who believe in our Constitution and our Republic.
By his standards he is hugely successful. He told us he was going to collapse the American economy and he is doing just that. He told us that the Constitution is a failed document because it did not provide for redistribution. Starting with his "botched" oath at his inauguration, he has ignored and undermined our Constitution as his order of business. He has stacked the supreme court with two nominees who had a history of anti-Constitutionalism. There are dozens of unvetted, appointed, radically anti-America, "czars" working secretly against our country. The list goes on and on, but no action is taken. And the Obamacrats don't stop because the Republicans don't stop them. Worst of all! Every Republican presidential candidate has some pet project that is unconstitutional. They fail to preserve, protect, and defend and they haven't even attained the office yet.

State of the Union? It sounded more like State of the Statist. It should have been entitled "There is nothing that Government cannot accomplish". Fair share? Who determines this fair share? First, tell me how it's not already fair for 50% of the population to pay all the income taxes collected?
The collapse saddled us with more debt? Obama's spending habits saddled us with more debt.
As to Fannie and Freddie, my daughter works for a small business in St. Louis, MO. They are moving their business a short distance for better facilities. The union is harrassing them for not using union labor..imagine! If it could be termed worse, the students they recruit into this beauty school business can receive Federal loans. The business is told to alert the students to their obligation to repay the loans (maybe it should be tatooed on their foreheads?). For whatever reason and regardless of the history behind the loans, if their student defaults, it impacts this business' default rating. Now, can this business review the credit history of its students applying for Federal aid? Heaven forbid that they be discriminated against in that fashion! If this applies across the educational spectrum, we are in deep trouble.

I did not watch nor hear the SOTU. I really did not have to. From the discourse regarding such I find that it was just as I would expect it to be; however, I do like the comment that the Obamas are like trailer trash that won the lotto with one exception. Although they may have lived in a mansion is Chicago, they never really rose to the level of trailer trash, but they are surely taking every opportunity to stick it to the 'man' by spending every bit of tax payer's money that they can. On the other hand, they simply wish that the United States would go to hell so that they can take it over like one of the black leaders in Africa. In my entire life I have never heard a SOTU speech that actually reported on the current State of the Union; as is required by Law. The whole thing is a sham, politicking as usual from the podium, with all the sniveling little brats in the room, half clapping at every other word, the other half sitting on their hands and pouting. It is a disgrace to all of us that We let them get away with it year after year. Let this be the last time that happens. Time to hold their feet to the coals and demand they do their job, and abide by their Oath. Now wouldn't that be something unique to see happen? I think we should Tax politicians, just 1 cent for every lie told in an election year by a politician, and 20 cents for each promise broken and new lie told by those elected over the following year, that would let us pay off the whole debt in a year, two tops, and probably less than a year if we paid attention to everything said by each one of them, if we caught ALL the lies they all told.

Yes, in many respects, America is in decline and the main reasons are that we no longer have an informed, participatory citizenry. Too many people, businesses and industries want more government support or rules and regulations to “protect” them. But every dollar of support, every rule and regulation comes with a cost to our freedom. We have allowed ourselves to become what Mark Levin calls an “Ameritopia” where the power and control almost every aspect of our lives and industry is held by those few men and woman we call our judges, legislators and executives—the three branches of government. Ameriatopia could not exist if people took responsibility for themselves, were moral and just, and did not place their lives in hands of the government. But way too many Americans do not take responsibility for themselves. They are not moral, ethical, honest and just. Any number simply want to”get by” with little or no effort on their part. Any number simply think the government should take care of them from cradle to grave.
Who are these people? They are our sons and daughters. We raised them to think that the good life was an entitlement without effort or risk. We castrated our laws and their enforcement as being too harsh. We dumbed down our schools because they were too demanding. We praised mediocrity as extraordinary. Every student deserves an A or a place on the first string line-up. Failure was no longer a fact of life. Personal best became the new non-standard.
Decline? What can we expect except what we have created ourselves? Welcome to Ameritopia!

Is our nation in decline? Absolutely!! How did we get there? By catering to liberal policies & welfare mentality. How do we reverse this trend? The only way to save this nation & return to a stable balanced government is to get rid of ALL of the bureacracy that is not authorized (directly) by the Constitution!! Further, we must stop applying the concept of what is best for the welfare generations but instead govern for what is best for this nation.
Welfare was initially created to provide those in need a TEMPORARY helping hand. The government would pay for those uneducated to obtain a living wage skill. From that they were given a short period of time to find a job. If they failed to apply themselves in the training or in finding (& keeping) a job, they were cut off to fend for them-selves. I know that sounds harsh but it was all dependent on the individual to use the skill (that the government paid for them to learn) to maintain a living wage job. The jobs were out there. This administration (& its predecessors) have regulated, taxed, restricted & in all manner managed to force those jobs out of the country. Therefore, it is past time to reduce the bureacracy to the point where the companies feel safe to return - thus providing jobs.
Everything that we need is spelled out in the Constitution. While welfare is not listed as a need of the government, the founding fathers knew what welfare was & the dangers that could incur by allowing it to grow through government funding. That is why it is NOT listed in the Constitution.

Even though the humiliation of leaving them naked in the street would work for most morally and ethically sound individual, too many of these public miscreants would most likely 'Get Off' on it. Stripping them of assets, or certainly, severly restricting asset accumulation on the Public Watch and Public Payroll, seems more appropriate somehow. But yet it is still not enough. Severe punishment IS warranted for breach of the Peoples trust. It is not a matter that some of the people are ignorant of the obfuscating tactics politicians use to draft convoluted law. It is a matter that purportedly, elected officials 'are not' ignorant of the oficious nature or our political system, and yet like vultures are attracted to the stink of easy prey.
There are so many brilliant people in our country. And reading these posts it is easy enough to tell that the overwhelming majority, herein at least, are totally frustrated.

My best stuff goes like this however:
Who? What? When? Where? and Why? That's the way I determine if a strategy makes goods sense.
How? That's the question I keep evaluating until it gets a pass.
I know that the only Stupid Question, is the one that is not asked. Main stream media seems to be exemplory in not asking the best questions - at all.
I wouldn't want that job forever, and I think that if I earned enough to put food on my table, pay my meaningful bills, while doing something that others could take the baton and build upon, then that would be the best reward.
I think Patriot Post and their direct associates/contributors, have cornered an impressive market share on delivering facts and truth. Except for one or two useful idiots who post an opposite or very secular viewpoint, we appear to be of similar mindset.

First, he made a big deal out of "free markets" and then expounded on all the reasons he doesn't believe in markets, let alone free ones. Second, he excoriated businesses for outsourcing jobs, then had his camera-people keep focusing on Steve Job's widow. No one out-sourced more jobs than Apple. Is his plan to "bring those jobs back to America" another handout to the likes of his best buddy on the infamous jobs council, Jeffrey Imelt?
He came to Colorado today to tout the "green, job creating, and 'money saving' feat of the U.S. Navy because of the navy's recent purchase of a boatload of bio-fuel for their fleet. No mention that they paid almost $16 a gallon compared to less than $4 for the petroleum fuel they would have used.
And we have just cut $2 trillion from our future deficits? What a joke!

As expected, his Democ-rats supported his lies, but I missed that Joe Wilson didn't call him a liar to reinforce fact. As has been noted many times, "If you're 20 and not a Democ-rat, you don't have a heart - If you're 40 and not a Republi-CAN, you don't have a brain". Nancy P proves that continuouisly - even tho' it is a "smear" on Terry Schaivo (God rest her soul)when Nancy P smiles, she has that same "brain-dead" expression.

Alas, America is in fact, in decline. This is not news. It began with FDR's New Deal, and the final stake will come from Obamacare. It was with FDR that Patriots needed to draw the line and say not only no, but HELL NO! That didn't happen, and like boiling a frog in water, we have been ignorant of the temperature. Now it may be too late. Just as Reagan's tax and regulatory cuts fueled our economy despite the dems attempts to stifle it, Obama's malfeasance may endure long enough to kill the Republic. I hope not. I pray not, though after looking back on the performance of we Patriots over the past 70 years, what Creator could possibly still have any sympathy or benevolence for us? It is truly up to us to save our great Nation, and we cannot do it by bickering among ourselves over who is this or that, and who said what 15 years ago. We must ask the questions that a true leader will answer with the firmness to engender support, and then go with that leader. Not the questions they hear in debates, but the questions they hear in every campaign stop and stump speech. Our eye is off the ball right now. What are Obama and the dems doing while we are watching the primary candidates try to out shame each other? Why do our candidates not refuse to sink to their level? Is there not a leader among them who can shame the rest of them into silence and refocus them on the very grave issues at hand? Newt tried it, but his attack was directed to the MSM, when it should have been directed to his peers. Romney tries to stay above the fray, while telling the world he has no control over his super pac. How callow. Santorum should know better, yet refuses to walk the walk or even talk the talk. Paul can't get anyone outside his own faithful to listen to him on anything.
Every one of our candidates needs to be pushing their beliefs and thair plans in response to every single debate question. IGnore the "gotchas" and stay on message. Come up with their own questions, and ignore the moderator if they take the discourse into the gutter. The Obama administration should not get a moments rest from the onslaught of Republican attack ads against HIM, about HIS abysmal record, about HIS failed policies, about HIS arrogance and HIS willful ignorance. None of the candidates should be attacking ANYONE BUT OBAMA, or we are going flush this election down the drain and our country with it.

Yes, America has been in decline for many years. Electing RINOs will not solve the problem any more than electing libs will. It is quickly coming to the point of no return with out blood shed if even that will do it. If it is civil war then the U N will be a huge factor to contend with. The future does not look too bright for America because we may have waited too long to apply the brakes to the decline

Gov't programs can ONLY assist. Transformation comes when the good people in each neighborhood step up and educate/mentor the parents and children to help them thrive.Versus gov't throwing $ at people and having no gauge or performance indicators
to what is a successful outcome other than cradle to grave living on the taxpayers dime.

Yes, America is sadly in decline. Too many of us, including private sector government critics, rely on the very same government programs they publicly curse for sweetheart contracts and income opportunities. Like most public employment, government contracting has become a camouflaged and "polite" form of public welfare. Absolute term limits for all elected officials offers the only hope. One term & out! Maybe then they will have the courage and independence to act properly.

Why are not the Republicans standing up to Mr. Obama when he says "it is Bush's fault"? The Democrats had control of the Senate and the House on November 3, 2000 and they would not pay any heed to the warnings from then President Bush and John McCain or others about Freddie Mack and Fannie Mae that is precisely why it collapsed. It is all on the Democrats shoulders this total mess and it should be proclaimed loud and clear. Stop the lies.

He wants to divide America up amonst his cronies-Rahm Emmanuel, George Soros, Jerimah(?) Wright, etc.

Twelve years ago, following President Clinton’s announcement of 104 policy initiatives in his State Of The Union (SOTU) address, I went through the list to determine how many were legitimate functions of the federal government. I could find only seven. Four years later it was George Bush’s turn for the same test. He scored 6/31 (19%), which was better than Mr. Clinton’s 7/104 (7%), but no reason for celebration –they both flunked.
Last night was Mr. Obama’s turn, and I invite you to review the 22 initiatives he announced to determine how many are legitimate functions of the federal government. To make sure we are all starting from the same base, let’s not use the contemporary politicians’ corrupt definition of legitimacy. Let’s use the general definition supplied by James Madison in Federalist Paper 45: “The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the Federal Government are few and defined” and elsewhere, “powers vested in Congress are specified and enumerated.” In particular, let’s use the detailed definition supplied by Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution. That’s where those “few and defined” powers are “specified and enumerated.” (And if you can’t lay your hands on a copy of the US Constitution, shame on you). As for me, I find Constitutional authority for only 13 of the 22 initiatives. At 59% that score puts Mr. Obama considerably ahead of Mr. Bush and Mr. Clinton; but it’s a moot victory, because they all flunked. By pursuing initiatives for which there is no Constitutional authority, they all violate the Oath of Office they took when they entered office, which was to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.“ Let us hope that our next president has the character and integrity to abide by his pledge.
Cordially,
Chuck Esposito

It is relatively simple to explain the continued popularity of this fatherless POUTS. Our nation has become a nation of fatherless children. They are Fatherless in both the spiritual world and in the natural realm. They have also been educated to be servants of the state and that the state will provide for them, thus the state has by default become their 'father'. Obama the fatherless and motherless POTUS represents the state and is thus has become a father figure to them, with his offers to make the state provide for and take care of all its fatherless citizens.

I've only seen and heard snippets of the SOTU address, but from commentary, it seems to be what was expected. More spending, more government, more intrusion into the lives of Americans. I have never been able to view one of "The President's" speeches in its entirety. I have a strong suspicion that I would become physically ill.
What STILL boggles my mind is that enough people were hornswoggled into voting for this charlatan to elect him to the Presidency. It was very clear what he was (although who is still open to debate) and he campaigned on a platform of "hope & change".
The upcoming election is going to be about division, make no mistake about it. Obama is going to put the mortgage money on a strategy of "us against them". If he is successful in getting re-elected, I believe that we will have signed the death warrant for the country as we know it and the country as it exists physically and politically.

First day:
1. Vote this president out of office and get rid of his entire administration, including all "Czars"
2. Vote out of office all liberals, progressives, RINOs or whateve other name they're hiding behind
3. Elect people who have read, support and fully understand the Constitustion of the United States of America
Second day:
1. Rescind all regulations issued by this administration
2. Abolish the Federal Registry
3. Abolish the Departments of Educaction, Energy, Commerce, and the EPA, NLRB and OSHA
4. Rescind all cuts to the Defense Budget while we have the military figure out what it will really cost us to defend this nation without all of the procurement nightmare regulations, then fund that requirement.
5. Fully implement the 10th Amendment, including a review of ALL federal functions to determine if they are Constitionally required. If not - abolish them and allow the States to pick up the funtion if they so desire.
That should keep us busy for a while.

Yes, America is in decline. It started years ago when politicians that were elected to correct a creeping socialism immediately set about to pacify a liberal press. A defeatist attitude left them only attempting to "hold the line" on advancing, social programs. Now, sadly, we find real conservatives struggling to finance things they never approved of at the start.

Sadly I believe the decline will continue and that nothing can be done to stop it. The differences that divide this country are too great to ever be resolved in a peaceful manner. We are reliving the 1850's. The Republicans are as much a part of the problem as the Democrats and no one running is going to do anything but slow the decline. That is assuming they could win and frankly I agree with Walter Williams that Obama cannot be beat. Look out Roman Empire. Here we come.

Reverse decline:
The US Supreme Court could play a significant role in "reversing the decline" as long it never becomes what amounts to a "superlegislature" (as it was in Roe v. Wade), and sticks to interpreting the US Constitution based on the intent of the Founders rather than broadening the interpretation well beyond what the Founders intended. And the Court should interpret the language of the Constitution and not "read" into the language of the Constitution (a fine line I suppose). For example, it "read into" the Ninth Amendment the idea that the right of privacy is founded in the penumbras of the Bill of Rights. In another example, the Court broadly interpreted the commerce clause, perhaps beyond what the Framers intended, so that Congress could have the broad power to regulate an activity if it could be found as a fact that it "AFFECTS" commerce. Yikes! And the Court (through Hamilton's friend Justice Story) adopted Hamilton's broader definition of the general welfare clause in Article I, Section 8(1) of the Constitution rather than Madison's narrower interpretation of that clause. To reverse the decline, it would help considerably in my opinion if the Court would interpret the Constitution based on the intent of the Framers, and if the intent can't be acertained (i.e. is ambiguous), the interpretation should be narrow, not broad. But perhaps irreversible damage has been done beginning in the early part of the 20th century (e.g. beginning with the Court's view of what a "fundamental right" is) and especially during FDR's tenure.

I knew the budgeet was a WTF thing but didn't know there was such a thing. Now I know WTF is for Winning The Future, Obama should be all set. By the way, is that his real name? To Win The Future, he should insist on providing a budget in the first place and be as 'transparent' to the american people as he promised. He has broken so many promises that you should list them all along with the actual results. He can then try to spin as many webs and lies as he wants and the American People will know what he has done. Along with his budget fiasco, the employment problem and others, please note this. He and 'his' family while the rest of the world look for jobs he didn't provide, he was busy travelling and taking expensive trips. Where was he when his children were called 'senior advisors' for his trip to Africa? When he was busy writing his speeach on fairness and equity to others, Where was he? He surely didn't take anyone I know to anyplace or share his salary with others in need. He is great at talking just not enough doing for the USA! On his first day, the new President should issue an excutive order to overrule all EPA regulations on drilling for oil and then open up all the public lands to drilling so that the Oil companies can have new oil online within one year. Immediately, the price of oil, hence gasoline, will drop dramatically because OPEC will know what will happen to oil prices and this will unlease the most explosive growth this country has ever seen. The drop of prices in gasoline and all other Oil products will stimulate the economy beyond all of the stimuli that the present Administration has spent Trillions on to no avail and it will have cost the government nothing. It's called the "Free Enterprise" which made this country what it has been for the last 200 years and would still be if not for the interfering government and all of it's regulations. It will also reduce the income of all of our enemies that are thriving on our oil money and using it against us.
