The Right Opinion
A Potpourri of Grievances
If you have decided along the way that I despise liberals, it merely proves that you've been paying attention. I don't just think they're misguided or that they have a different take on the issues than I have, I believe they are evil. I believe that if they had their way, America would be a third world nation.
I think they lie, partly out of habit and partly because they know that the equally evil media will aid and abet them by providing cover and by churning out propaganda.
For instance, when some flabby-brained weasel like Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi, claims that Republicans don't care about the plight of old people and would love to just push them off the edges of cliffs, the way they illustrated conservative objections to ObamaCare in their TV ads, does anyone take them seriously? Even their fellow left-wingers must know better, but they belong to a cult that demands total fealty. Catholics will doubt the Pope's infallibility sooner than liberals will doubt Obama's. On the Left, you either fall into line or you stand condemned for heresy.
In a recent article, I questioned the wisdom of the 19th Amendment, the one that gave women the vote in 1920. Insisting that women just aren't very good when it comes to voting shouldn't be taken for misogyny, any more than saying that most men tend to get tongue-tied when trying to express their emotions should be regarded as my clumsy attempt to appear even-handed.
In spite of what the feminists say, the genders are not the same; each has its strengths and its weaknesses. The proof in this case is not in the pudding, but in the voting. Consider that starting with the 1980 presidential election, women gave Reagan only a 1% advantage over Carter. That's Jimmy Carter, for heaven's sake! In 1988, proving that it wasn't a fluke, the ladies gave Bush a mere 1% edge over Dukakis. That's Michael Dukakis, for heaven's sake!
After that, things only got worse. In the next five elections, they not only helped to elect Clinton twice, but they voted overwhelmingly for Gore, Kerry and Obama.
If a major league baseball player struck out that many times, he'd be on the next bus to Trenton or Wilkes-Barre.
One of the most annoying things about this election is that people keep asking the candidates what they'll do to create jobs. The problem is that the only way the federal government can create jobs is by hiring more bureaucrats, which is the last thing any sane person wants to see. The job of the president is to create an environment in which entrepreneurs and small businesses can flourish. That means you cut the tax rate and you get rid of stupid, power-grabbing, regulators, like the storm troopers at the EPA, and you take the jackboot of the federal government off the necks of those driven to succeed and get wealthy. Prosperity is the greatest engine for job creation and it's the only way that a $16 trillion national debt won't sooner, rather than later, turn us into Greece.
Speaking of money, in 2010, during the worst days of our recession, we were sending $4.16 billion in foreign aid to Afghanistan, $1.8 billion to both Pakistan and Haiti, $758 million to Mexico and $615 to Nigeria. All of that would have been bad enough, but that was money we had to borrow and then pay interest on to the Chinese. To me, that sounds a lot like the dumb schmuck who borrows money from a shylock and then races down to the corner bar to buy drinks for the house.
Speaking of Mexico, a nation that has seen 50,000 of its citizens murdered by drug dealers in recent years, I, for one, don't believe that the government couldn't wipe out the creeps if it really wanted to. Those goons may have a lot of automatic weapons, thanks to Eric Holder, but they don't have tanks. I suspect that the cartels are allowed to run wild for the same reason that Mexico does nothing to shut down its northern border: money, money, money.
If it weren't for millions of illegal aliens in the U.S. wiring billions of dollars back to their relatives, and the drug loot that's floating around south of the border, Mexican politicians would actually have to do something for the people or face a civil war. It's the same reason that Pakistan lets its farmers continue to grow poppies, the source of most of the world's heroin.
Finally, although several motives have been suggested to explain why John Roberts sided with the loons on the Court, the one I like best is that by doing so, he not only forced Obama to defend ObamaCare during the campaign, but to defend what is now officially, thanks to Roberts, the largest tax increase in history. Only time will tell, based on his future decisions, if Roberts suffered a brain cramp or if he is so diabolical that people might start referring to him as Mac, short for Machiavelli.
Although Obama's immediate reaction to the Court's decision was one of unbridled glee, by the time this all plays out, he may find himself like the fencing master in the cartoon who apparently dodges his opponent's sword, and says, "Aha, you missed!" a second before his severed head drops to the floor.

The Democrats and the RINOs can't see the forest because the trees are in the way! They talk a lot about cutting waste and abuse (fraud) in the Government, but it is all talk. Cutting spending on foreign aid and many other things is just too simple for them. Maybe these cuts would be drop in the proverbial bucket, but one has to start somewhere!

Burt: Talking about habitual lying for party benefit - have you read "Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg? I'm a recent graduate with a history degree, and I've learned a lot about American and European history, but the quotes, the behaviors, the philosophical and practical connections between Progressives (like Woodrow Wilson) and fascists (like Mussolini and Hitler) are shocking, and I've never read of them before. It's not a screed - it's a well-researched and carefully-expressed work of "historical revision" - since the historians have almost universally been liberals and hence reluctant to be connected in any way with fascism (i.e. "anything we don't like," i.e. Hitler, i.e. "the epitome of evil").
I always enjoy your articles, and read them first when I come to the Patriot Post. Keep up the great work!

I just finished Liberal Fascism a couple weeks ago. I had an inkling of some of the connections, but the depths to which Mr. Goldberg plumbed them astonished me. I have since recommended it to all my conservative friends and family, and I throw it in the face of the liberal troglodytes on the internet when they call me a Fascist Nazi (which happens more often than it really should, but amuses me nonetheless).

Burt - the firearms the ATF let go into Mexico were not Automatic Weapons, but semi-automatics. An Automatic Weapon is a machine gun. Automatics have been regulated since 1934. You need a class 3 license to own one. A favorite trick of the gun banners is to mix up automatic and semi-automatic. This is to fool the people who know nothing about firearms into thinking semi-autos are machine guns. With an automatic you hold back the trigger and the gun keeps firing. A semi-automatic requires a separate squeeze of the trigger each time you want to fire. A M-14 is a full automatic, while a M1A is a semi-automatic. They may look alike but are basically different. The same goes for the M-16 (fires a 3 shot burst) and an AR-15 (semi-auto). Also automatic and semi-auto has no relation to the power or size of the bullet. A M-16 and an AR-15 fire a .22 caliber bullet. A M1A and M-1 both semi-autos fire .30 caliber bullets. BTW, M-1's have been around since the 1930's. Burt, so please don't refer to a semi-auto firearm as an automatic.

Auto Ordinance provided me with a .45 Semi Auto, that looks just like a Tommy Gun. More fun than a human should be allowed to have, everyone that has had the opportunity to shoot it leaves the range with an ear to ear smile. I also enjoy my M1A, I pretty much have the property completely covered and sighted in. Powder is dry! Liberals are not allowed.

When I was in the Army-'63 to '66- we were issued M14's. They were semi-auto, not full auto.

Many M-14 were converted to semi-auto only. This was done to conserve ammunition, as the muzzle was difficult to control in full auto. The M-16 was converted to fire a three shot burst for the same reason.

Howard: Okay, I won't.
OKBecky: Thank you for the kind words. To answer your question, no, I haven't read Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism." Have you read Prelutsky's "Liberals: America's Termites." Very informative and I'm willing to bet, much funnier than Goldberg's.
Capt. Call: Agreed, both parties could do better. The difference is that the Democrats could hardly do worse.

Maybe Roberts got an offer he couldn't refuse, the Chicago Way! He probably has a family and friends he would like to see survive the Obamao reign of terror.

Funny and true! I'll have to remember that one, Burt.
It appears that single women have bought into Obama's "war on women." Could we revoke the 19th Amendment until after the election?

The military is prohibited by law from firing on civilians. But when the big O gets his "just as well equipped" personal storm troopers there won't be any such restrictions. The real point is, that if Mitt Scissorhand don't win in 2012 there may not be a 2016.

Burt, you wrote, "The job of the president is to create an environment in which entrepreneurs and small businesses can flourish." I disagree the job of the president is to defend and protect the constitution of the USA. That means keeping government limited, defined and non-intrusive in the lives of a free people. To expect the POTUS to facilitate job creation through his policies is to grand a power not intended.
Free markets associated with a free society does not need the help of a benevolent leader for success, what it needs is a government to restrict themselves to the limits placed on them by the constitution that was created to assure individual freedom and God given rights that enables individual ability to entrepreneurship. Individual success or failure is not the responsibility of a limited government, staying out of our way is.

Burt, I take offense at you referring to Barbara Boxer as a weasel. That is a HUGE insult to weasels everywhere! To their prey, weasels are efficient, vicious predators and deserve respect for keeping rodent populations in check.
Boxer's more like MRSA, if you ask me....

Anton: You sound like you're running for office, but that doesn't make you right. I will stick by what I wrote. It is silly to pretend that the government isn't involved in business. Everything from the FDA to tariffs to taxes to regulations plunks the feds right in the middle of business. To pretend that is not the case, and that Romney will not foster a better climate for small and large businesses than Obama is to deny the obvious.
Paul Couch: Although a personal militia was apparently on candidate Obama's wish list, it never came to pass. So don't worry about any coups taking place on or before November 6th.
Mac: No need to worry about the Obamas not being able to afford their extravagant life style after they leave the White House. The Clintons made over 100 million dollars in the decade after they left; I'm guessing the Obamas will make twice as much.
Tex Horn: Most single women haven't bought into the War on Women. But they have bought into the notion that the government will provide for them, thus turning Uncle Sam into Sugar Daddy, and, as we all know, the Democrats always use bribery to buy votes, be it from single women, blacks, Hispanics or union members.
William: When the only option is laughing or crying, I prefer laughing. I suppose it comes down to whether one prefers to be an optimist or a pessimist. Even if both have a 50-50 chance of being right, the optimist will be happier in either case. So, try to keep smiling. November 6 is less than four months off and things don't look good for Obama...and they'll look even worse after the presidential debates.

I have to disagree with you on the optomist/pessimist, Burt. I'm a pessimist, I'm sure everything is going to go wrong, so when it turns out right, I'm surprised and thrilled, as opposed to the optomist who is so frequently bitterly disappointed. I do agree that it's better to laugh than to cry over things I have no control over, however. At least, until my ribs start hurting from the hysterics....

Bert, Where did you get that from what I wrote? I am surprised at your reaction to my piece. I am not running for office and do not pretend that the government has not inserted themselves in all aspects of our personal as well as business lives. I simply asserted that if government, i.e. POTUS did the job within the limits of the constitution we would not need a business friendly or otherwise president and we (voters) would not make decisions based upon a candidates claims of how their ideas would benefit us if we would only vote for them.

I reaaaaally despise liberals. They pollute the air we breathe with their foul words. I only wish that somebody would open season on 'em. If Obutthead gets re-ellected by some fluke in the cosmos, I firmly believe we should be going to Civil War - THEN it'll be open season on liberals. And I plan to get my fair quota! ;^)
