Will President Obama Fire Hillary?
Editor's Note: The column was coauthored by Bob Morrison.
Bing West's column on National Review Online is hard reading. It is must reading for every American. We are more than a month into one of the worst foreign policy debacles in our history. Four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, were brutally murdered in the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. That consulate is American sovereign territory. It is as if the Libyans came across the border into San Antonio and killed American citizens on American soil.
In fact, when the Mexican bandit leader Pancho Villa came across the border into New Mexico in 1916 and killed fourteen U.S. soldiers and ten American civilians, President Woodrow Wilson took action. In an election year, no U.S. President could be seen doing nothing when violent mobs screaming "Death to Americans" shooting, killing, looting, and setting fire to our property.
Wilson was virtually a pacifist. But even his invertebrate administration recognized the need for action. The Wilson administration did not try to evade responsibility for this outrage by stalling, conducting an investigation, and promising to "get to the bottom of all this."
The candidates were probably right in Monday night's foreign policy debate not to get into this Benghazi tragedy too deeply. It is a rapidly developing story with startling new revelations almost daily.
Still, Bing West's column details how everything that happened in our doomed consulate was being recorded in real time by a drone. Sec. of State Hillary Clinton has claimed "responsibility" for this debacle. But that is an empty gesture if she does not immediately resign.
Madame Secretary's feckless conduct brings to mind the last time an American Secretary of State presided over the violent seizure of a U.S. diplomatic outpost. In 1979, Sec. Cyrus Vance was similarly unflappable when Muslim militants took over the U.S. Embassy in Tehran. He maintained his cool, professional demeanor, as our Marines and Embassy staff were subjected to beatings and to mock executions.
Sec. Vance was finally stirred to action five months into the hostage crisis when President Jimmy Carter's rescue mission failed. Several of the rescue aircraft collided and crashed in what would forever be known as "Desert One." America was further humiliated to see turbaned Iranian mullahs surveying the wreckage of our military aircraft.
The action Cyrus Vance took was to resign as Secretary of State. He resigned not because the rescue attempt had failed. He resigned because it had been made. He was so committed to "soft power," diplomatic back-and-forth, that he considered it wrong for Americans to use force to defend American lives.
This is the same mindset we see operating in the skies over Benghazi, Libya. What can be more revealing than the fact that this administration had a drone in the air recording the deaths of four brave Americans?
The lesson to U.S. diplomats and consular personnel is obvious. You put your lives on the line for your country, and if the natives get restless, if they overrun your embassy and kill you, the Secretary of State will "accept responsibility" and the president will make nice comments about you on the Comedy Channel.
President Obama should fire Sec. of State Hillary Clinton. There is no other way to demonstrate that this administration takes its responsibilities seriously. Failure to do that will only guarantee that they continue kicking the can down the road, hoping that they can get past the election before we "get to the bottom of everything." And a terrible milestone will have been passed.
In these same streets over two hundred years ago, captured American seamen were sold into slavery. "Christians are cheap today!" was the cry of the slave auctioneer. We thought we had come far since that time. President Jefferson then fought the Barbary Pirates to stop their preying on American ships and American lives. But once again, we are showing that the lives of our people are cheap today.

American lives mean nothng to these people. It would only mattter to them if it advanced their agenda. The death of those Americans enforced the uselessness of this administrations foreign policy and somehow had to be minimized to keep the American people from learning just how bad the situation was leading up to the attack. If Hillary really meant to take responsibity for the lack of protection she would have resigned immediately.

Chaiman Obamao and his entire regime is criminally negligent in the overseas deaths. Describing this debacle as "bumps in the road" is beyond contempt. Cells at Gitmo are too good for them all.

Cells at Gitmo are too good for them all.
Could not agree more with this statement. Maybe cells in a less hospitable climate.

You left out: lying, covering up, propagandizing and deflecting by accusing others of playing politics as if questions are not legitimate if asked.
Obozo and his Band of Ba$tards needs to be shown the door in landslide fashion in November.

Obama will not fire Hillary. Doing so would trigger her to blow the final whistle on him. Her falling on the sword for the worthless piece of human excrement is a total sham. She will not pay a price for doing so, and it will assure her chances of being nominated for the Democrap standard bearer in 2016. Make no mistake, her taking the fall for Obama had pure political reasoning on her part. She will now be a hero to all the libatards out there.

Negative. It was kabuki theater. Only a couple of days prior to the debate, she decides to finally accept responsibility. This gave Hussein the chance during the debate to nobly claim that HE is responsible. It was all scripted, sez me.

Mr. Blackwell,
The answer to your question is an emphatic yes; the President should fire Hillary Clinton! But we all know that he won’t because he thinks he needs Bill Clinton to get reelected! He might fire her if he gets reelected, but if he tries it before Election Day, Bill Clinton will turn on him like a rabid dog. Most likely what will happen is after the election, regardless of who wins, Hillary will just resign and that will be the end of it. What really needs to happen though is for Obama to be impeached, BEFORE Election Day! But we all know that will not happen, because there is not one single Republican in the House with the courage to lead the charge! And if there were, Boehner would not allow it to happen because he is incompetent and a coward! McConnell in the Senate is every bit the incompetent coward that Boehner is, so even if Obama were to be indicted in the House, McConnell would see to it that he didn’t get convicted! The Republican leaders in Congress are so utterly terrified of the President and his liberals; they are willing to let them get away with ANYTHING! How did we get here Mr.Blackwell? How did our country get to this place where standing up for our founding principles and doing the right thing regardless of the consequences is something to fear?!!!

There is no sense in impeaching "o" before election day. That would leave o'biden in charge and his last act before stepping down would be to pardon his patron. I really don't care to see any more impeachments that don't carry serious penalties with them. Good Islamic penalties.

With all of the cover-up hooplah, I wonder if it is the lesser of two evils and just a smokescreen to keep the REALLY damaging info from coming out.
We still need to know who denied the requests for adequate security and we still need to know who ordered the ambassador to be in Benghazi on 9/11. His meeting a a Turkish envoy could have been done the following day. Where was the Consul when all this was going down? If your boss is in your office, wouldn´t you be there, also?

Let me say if the occupants of the embassy in Benghazi were Michelle or any of Obamas kids the full weight of US forces would have been ordered to respond and Benghazi occupants would have suffered massive collateral damage including the elimination of all the attackers without prejudice. If you are not Obama or part of his family you are part of the mud sill.

Re “President Obama should fire Sec. of State Hillary Clinton. There is no other way to demonstrate that this administration takes its responsibilities seriously.”
That would be an absurd thing for Obonga to do, even he can’t be that stupid. If he did it your next headline would be “Obama tries to pin the blame for Libya on Hillary” or something similar.

Obama and his whole administration absurd! So, yes, Hillary should be fired. And, Obama should be "retired." But Hillary said that she would only stay Secretary of State for one Presidential term. She is running out of time.

While the talkers talk there are people suffering "hard torture" at the hands of savages.
I suggest we offer the savages a deal. One hundred "soft power" talkers for each non-politically motivated American.
