A Grand Opportunity for the Grand Old Party

It’s not often you get handed an unprecedented opportunity to forge a paradigm shift in the voting patterns of a subgroup of Americans who have rejected your party for the better part of 50 years. But that opportunity is now at hand.

Dear Republican National Committee (RNC):

It’s not often you get handed an unprecedented opportunity to forge a paradigm shift in the voting patterns of a subgroup of Americans who have rejected your party for the better part of 50 years. But that opportunity is now at hand. In what is best described as a gargantuan level of political tone-deafness, coupled with an arrogance bordering on megalomania, Democrats and the Obama administration have come to the conclusion that they can run roughshod over the concerns of black Americans thoroughly disgusted by the preferential treatment given to illegal aliens at their expense.

If you can’t exploit that disgust, you’re brain dead.

On Friday, July 11 in Chicago, an astounding level of animus was directed at President Obama from black residents of the city’s South Side. What started out as a protest against the violence that has resulted in 189 people being shot and 33 killed – in the month of July alone – turned into an Obama bash-fest. “We got a Mayor in our city, and our President of the United States, who have passed legislation and have given up funding to create opportunities for new citizens coming to the United States, ignoring people who have been born and raised here,” one resident said. “With the president setting aside all of these funds for immigrants, and forsaking the African American community and African American families, I think that’s a disgrace,” said another. “Mr. President … you’re spending billions of dollars in Texas, but we’ve got a problem here in Chicago,” said a female protester.

Another resident compared the fate of today’s black Chicagoans to those who lived as slaves. “Today, if you look at the time that we were brought here as slaves 400 years ago, we got the same results today,” he said. Still another resident was even blunter. “Barack will go down as the worst president ever elected, Bill Clinton was the African-American President,” he declared. “President Barack needs to pay attention to Chicago. If he can not pay attention to Chicago and the African-American community, he needs to resign.”

These complaints followed an even angrier outburst from Ms. Bernadette Lancelin, a black woman in Houston incensed by the reality that the Feds want to take an unused neighborhood school and turn it into an illegal alien detention center. “It’s not right. Billions of dollars are going to be borrowed from the White House to feed and house them,” Lancelin complained. “What about the g—–n kids here? In our neighborhoods? In our country? Not just this neighborhood. Our country!”

Obama has even alienated one of his biggest fans. Prior to the 2008 election, Florida resident Peggy Joseph was completely ecstatic after she heard an Obama campaign speech. “It was the most memorable time of my life,” she told NBC back then. “I never thought this day would ever happen. I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know, if I help him, he’s gonna help me.”

Today it’s a different story. Filmmaker Josh Gilbert, who’s doing a movie about the Obama administration, interviewed Joseph and asked her if Obama was everything she expected him to be. “Absolutely not!” Joseph said. “Mortgage got worse and gas prices got higher … At that time we needed a change but a change for the better not the worse.” During that evolution she discovered something even more surprising: she learned that she was a conservative. “It’s within ourselves to have the determination – to have the courage and the brains to bring us to our destiny,” she told Gilbert.

Is there any reason Republicans shouldn’t be as determined as Ms. Joseph to change the course of your destiny as it relates to black America? Shouldn’t you be in black neighborhoods asking residents what 50 years of loyalty to the Democratic party has gotten them, aside from an unemployment rate that is consistently double that of whites, inner city violence that has turned many black neighborhoods into de facto war zones, an out-of-wedlock birthrate of 72.2 percent, decrepit schools that don’t educate – and entire cities controlled by Democrats, such as majority black Detroit, run into the ground?

Couldn’t you be asking black Americans how they feel about a determination made by panels of ideologically diverse experts, who nonetheless unanimously agreed that illegal immigration reduces job opportunities and depresses wages for black Americans in general, and black men in particular? How asking black Americans if they’ve noticed that anyone who disagrees with allowing the current invasion to continue, or spending $3.7 billion mostly for housing, education, healthcare and lawyers for illegals, is considered a nativist or a bigot?

At the very least, can’t you ask black Americans why they remain unblinkingly loyal to a Democratic party that has taken them so completely for granted they are bending over backwards to court millions of illegals while black American concerns take a back seat?

Even more remarkably, it’s going to get easier for you to make your case with every passing day. For example it’s not particularly hard to point out that while black Americans languish in impoverished neighborhoods, the Obama administration offered $50 million last Wednesday to a charity group aiming to convert a Texas resort hotel with two pools into 600 bed facility for juvenile illegals. The deal fell through, not because the Obama administration cancelled it, but because the charity involved, Baptist Child and Family Services, withdrew its bid when it was overwhelmed by protests. Nor is it particularly hard to point out that while many black neighborhoods are besieged by violent gangs and drugs, the Obama administration is busy importing members of the brutally violent, drug cartel-allied Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang, who have used the Nogales processing center in Arizona to recruit additional members.

I could go on, but the political strategists at the RNC should be getting the picture – shouldn’t you? Isn’t it about time to step up and take control of a narrative that is ripe for the taking? How hard is it to tell black America that even some of their fellow black Democrats are selling them out? People like Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) who believes America “can’t just build a wall or a fence and say no more,” or Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) who insists amnesty legislation will “raise wages” even though the Congressional Budget Office determined exactly the opposite. How about pointing out that Congressional Black Caucus member Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) said the well-being of the illegal immigrant children “must be our first priority.”

America’s first priority?

The Democrats’ first priority is more like it, and Republicans need to get the critical message out there that this is nothing new. Democrats have always been about party first and everything and everyone else, second, even if the nation is harmed in the process. And it is essential to get that message out there right now, when black America can see that damnable reality with their own eyes. Hammer home that it is Democrats and the Obama administration who are all in with orchestrated chaos on the border, and the despicable effort to exploit that chaos by dispersing illegal aliens throughout the nation, making it virtually certain they’ll never be deported.

And virtually certain that black America will be disproportionately afflicted as a result.

Once again: this is an unprecedented opportunity for the party of Lincoln. For far too long, you’ve allowed Democrats to label your entire party as racist, even as they pursue their divide-and-conquer agenda – one that can now be pointed out to black America in no uncertain terms.

You many never get this chance again. Don’t blow it.
