Obama Speaks

President Obama addressed the nation yesterday to offer his thoughts about the San Bernardino massacre. I ignored his nonsense then, but here’s what he had to say: “At this stage, we do not yet know why this terrible event occurred… We don’t know why they did it. … We do not know their motivations… It is possible that this was terrorist-related, but we don’t know. It’s also possible that this was workplace-related.” That comment borders on willful deception. The efforts of big media and left-wing apologists for radical Islam to dismiss what our own eyes and ears tell us is infuriating.

President Obama addressed the nation yesterday to offer his thoughts about the San Bernardino massacre. I ignored his nonsense then, but here’s what he had to say:

“At this stage, we do not yet know why this terrible event occurred… We don’t know why they did it. … We do not know their motivations… It is possible that this was terrorist-related, but we don’t know. It’s also possible that this was workplace-related.”

That comment borders on willful deception. The efforts of big media and left-wing apologists for radical Islam to dismiss what our own eyes and ears tell us is infuriating.

But perhaps this might help the president understand their motivations a bit more. CNN is reporting that just moments before the attacks took place, “female shooter Tashfeen Malik posted a pledge of allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on Facebook.”

The Left’s Insanity

I mentioned yesterday the initial reaction of many in the media was to worry about abortion clinics. Next they were attacking guns and God. It was truly bizarre.

Well, get this: Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA) and several other members of Congress announced on Wednesday — the day of the terrorist attack in San Bernardino — that they are going to a mosque today for Friday prayers. According to a letter, the congressmen are going to protest “Islamophobia,” and they invited other members of Congress to attend to “show solidarity with the American Muslim community.”

The San Bernardino victims haven’t been buried yet and some congressional liberals are rushing to show their solidarity with Muslims?

They aren’t going to just any mosque. The Dar al-Hijrah mosque is one of the largest mosques in the metro Washington area, and it also happens to have an extremely checkered past.

Several of the 9/11 hijackers attended that mosque. So did Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan. So did Ahmed Omar Abu Ali. The valedictorian of his class, Ali was convicted in 2005 of plotting to assassinate President George W. Bush.

What about the imam who led that mosque on the morning of 9/11? He left the country to be become the chief spokesman for Al Qaeda — Anwar al-Awlaki. He was killed in a drone strike in September 2011.

Clueless Elites

On Morning Joe today, a show widely watched by D.C. elites, Mika Brzezinski (the daughter of former Carter national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski) said that the shooting has implications beyond the people killed and wounded. She fretted about how the incident might impact the Muslim community there.

I’m sorry. I just don’t believe the “community” that needs our priority sympathy and attention is the Muslim community. The community that has been devastated is the community of San Bernardino.

The people who need our sympathy and concern are the families who are planning funerals because their loved ones were brutally murdered, and the police who put their lives on the line and eliminated the murderers.

Our clueless elites just don’t get it. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Eugene Robinson said, “It was a very weird terrorist attack. It’s very weird to attack your own workplace at a Christmas party — limited number of people there… They could have gone to places with a lot more people and done a lot more harm.”

Well, let me hazard a wild guess. If you’re going to perform jihad would you rather kill stranger infidels or the infidels you’ve had to tolerate day after day for five years? The shooter may have given us a clue.

One of his victims was Aneesa Kondokar. She and Farook had attended a mosque together for several years. He shot her several times at point blank range. In other words, he specifically targeted her.

We also know that he stopped going to that mosque and began attending a different mosque where he was described as a “constant presence” and “had recently memorized the Quran.”

Another one of the victims was an Iranian Catholic who fled the Islamic Revolution in 1987. Another victim, Nicholas Thalasinos, was a Messianic Jew who sometimes debated Farook about their faiths. Thalasinos’ wife said he had been recently receiving death threats.

Robinson, the award-winning journalist, also had trouble with the fact that Tashfeen Malik dropped her six month-old baby off before going to wage jihad. He found it incomprehensible that a mother would do such a thing. Where has Robinson been?

Did he miss the stories about Al Qaeda using the people with disabilities as suicide bombers?

Has he not seen the photos of proud Muslim fathers with their young sons holding an infidel’s head by the hair?

Does he not know about Haifa Al-Agha, the Palestinian Authority’s Minister of Women’s Affairs? She recently said that what makes a Palestinian woman special is that she “cries with joy” when told that her son died killing Jews.

Was Eugene Robinson out of town when stories appeared about Hamas summer camps teaching kids how to be warriors for Allah?

And then there is Loretta Lynch, our new attorney general. Speaking to the Muslim Advocate’s 10th anniversary dinner last night, Lynch told the audience that her “greatest fear” was the “incredibly disturbing rise of anti-Muslim rhetoric.” She also announced an investigation into the arrest of Ahmed Mohamed, aka Clock Boy.

Clock Boy & San Bernardino

The official slogan of our domestic anti-terrorism campaign is “See something, say something.” If you see something suspicious report it.

When a Muslim boy from a family that was well-known for its activism brought a clock to his Texas high school that looked like a bomb, teacher after teacher did not follow the advice of see something, say something. Finally one teacher did react by alerting school officials and the police, who detained the boy.

The police, teacher and the entire state of Texas instantly became the villains. Ahmed the Clock Boy became a national hero. He was invited to the White House and received generous offers of scholarships from Silicon Valley corporate chieftains. Now his family has filed a $15 million lawsuit for violating his civil rights.

Is it any wonder why Syed Rizwan Farook’s neighbors, who watched people coming in and out and working all hours at the house now described as an “IED factory,” were afraid to speak up at the risk being called racists and bigots? If they had said something, 14 people might be alive today.

But don’t be mad at the neighbors. Who created this fear? The left. We should make them own it.
