Bureaucracy Flourishes under Obama

Barack Hussein Obama is busy spinning his rationale for increased taxes and more government "recovery" spending.

Though Obama's deficits are designed to, in the end, break the back of free enterprise, he invariably claims, "I inherited this deficit from the Bush administration."

However, the Executive Branch does not set budgets, Congress does. If you will view the deficits chart below, you will note that from the '09 budget forward, the budget deficits increase greatly. Now, for the record, the Democrats controlled Congress since January 2007. Thus, they controlled the budgets for FY 2008, FY 2009, FY 2010 and FY 2011.

In '08, the Democrats compromised with Bush on spending. However, in FY 2009, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid bypassed the Bush administration by way of continuing resolutions until Barack Obama could take office.

Again, for the Record, Obama was a member of the Senate Majority in 2007 and 2008, which is to say, he voted for those omnibus budgets.

The last deficit that the Democrats "inherited" was FY 2007, the last of the Republican congressional budgets.  The FY 2007 deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. The only deficit Obama has inherited is that which he and his Democrat majorities generated.

In effect, Obama is claiming, "I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I had my Democrat congress expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th."

But really, we need to raise taxes in order to reduce the deficit...

If Republicans Are Serious About Budget Cutting, they should start by identifying expenditures and taxes which are not expressly authorized by our Constitution, and schedule them for termination.
