The Patriot Post® · That Horrendous Cold-Blooded Murder In...
By now you have heard about that horrible murder in … Delaware. You thought I was referring to the latest race-bait case in Georgia. Well, there was a tragic confrontation in Georgia, too, that resulted in the death of a black man killed by two white men. More on that in a minute.
First, the case you most likely did not hear about.
According to the Delaware State Police, last Friday a 29-year-old black man, Sheldon Francis, shot an elderly white couple from Elkton, Maryland, while they were visiting the grave of their son at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Lidia Marino, 85, was deceased at the crime scene. Her husband, Paul Marino, 86, an Army veteran, died of his injuries Saturday.
Police identified Francis as the assailant after they exchanged gunfire with him at the scene. Sources indicate the assailant had a scoped rifle and stalked the elderly couple, then fired on the first responders. The manhunt for Francis ended six hours later after he was found dead in a wooded area near the original assault.
Despite the fact a black man targeted and murdered an elderly white couple, the Delaware attack was not even a blip on the mass-media radar.
Meanwhile, the MSM’s latest clickbait lure is the Brunswick, Georgia, shooting of Ahmaud Arbery — a white-on-black incident that is much less common than black-on-white violence — or black-on-black murders. The Georgia case is saturating media outlets because it checks all the boxes for an election-year race-bait feeding frenzy for the Democrat Party and its Leftmedia publicists. Demos are desperately trying to keep their black constituents in line — the voting line.
The Brunswick case is complicated because of the timeline of events, and interest in the case was sparked by a leaked video depicting the sketchy circumstances of the incident 10 weeks ago.
On 23 February, 25-year-old Arbery was pursued, shot, and killed by a former police officer, Gregory McMichael, and his son, Travis McMichael. No charges were filed at the time of the shooting and Arbery was unarmed, which is to say making a case for the use of deadly force in self defense is unlikely. The father and son claim they were responding to reports of a burglary in their neighborhood. A few minutes before the altercation, Arbery did enter a home in their neighborhood. The just-released video of the confrontation appears to show Gregory McMichael attempting to detain Arbery at gunpoint when the two struggle over the gun.
As with most high-profile cases, the media portrayal of Arbery as a nice young man out for a jog may not be completely accurate. Gregory McMichael was familiar with Arbery, having been involved with an earlier prosecution of him. Arbery had prior criminal charges, including attempting to enter a high-school sporting event with a loaded handgun and evading police before being captured. He also had an altercation with police in 2017.
The Arbery case was turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation when the Georgia prosecutor who would have handled the case recused himself after declaring the case a “justifiable homicide.” Subsequently, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr asked for the Department of Justice to take over the case in order to ensure “a complete and transparent review of how the Ahmaud Arbery case was handled from the outset.” Given the racially charged nature of this incident now, DoJ should review the case to determine if there is evidence of a “hate crime,” though as I have written previously, all capital crimes are hate crimes, and differentiating crimes by intent serves only partisan political ends.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms ensured the case would stay in the headlines by calling Arbery’s death a “lynching” — “It’s 2020 and this was a lynching of an African American man.” To maintain the Demo political narrative, predictably, she then blamed President Donald Trump: “I think, again, it’s a part of this bigger issue that we are having in this country with the rhetoric we hear coming out of the White House. In so many ways, I think that many who are prone to being racist are given permission to do it in an overt way that we otherwise would not see in 2020.”
Mayor Bottoms did not mention how many young black men have been involved in interracial assaults or have murdered other young black men in Atlanta, much less nationwide, in the months since Ahmaud Arbery’s death.
While the respective race of the individuals involved in both of these case should be immaterial, the Georgia case fits a disgraceful political narrative that elevates it as clickbait across all Leftmedia platforms. But that also exposes a gross double standard in how such cases are treated by the media and Democrat politicians, who are predisposed to brazenly use the blood of victims when it advances their political agenda. (Expect the so-called Southern Poverty Law Center hate hustlers to start fundraising on this case soon!)
Manhattan Institute researcher Heather Mac Donald has thoroughly documented the racial disparity between interracial crimes. According to the latest Bureau of Justice Statistics survey of criminal victimization (2018), Mac Donald notes: “There were 593,598 interracial violent victimizations…between blacks and whites last year, including white-on-black and black-on-white attacks. Blacks committed 537,204 of those interracial felonies, or 90 percent, and whites committed 56,394 of them, or less than 10 percent.” Mac Donald adds, “That ratio is becoming more skewed, despite the Democrat claim of Trump-inspired white violence. In 2012-13, blacks committed 85 percent of all interracial victimizations between blacks and whites; whites committed 15 percent. From 2015 to 2018, the total number of white victims and the incidence of white victimization have grown as well.”
Dramatically increasing the per capita disparity is the fact that black people represent 13% of the population but perpetrate 90% of violent interracial crimes. Again, Democrats and their Leftmedia outlets have saturated the nation with hyperbolic headlines about the Georgia shooting, which may result in one or more homicide convictions. But where is the justice for the Delaware murder victims – and thousands like them? If the Department of Justice is going to investigate any “hate crimes,” they should investigate ALL hate crimes.
Finally, Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, is insisting that the McMichaels receive the death penalty: “Ahmaud wasn’t given a chance, he wasn’t given a chance to live. He chose to fight and still was killed. So. I think that they should get what Ahmaud got.” Ironically, she is assuming their guilt, which is what the McMichaels assumed about her son.
